Site 46- Love love love this place! Camp host are great, bathrooms/ Showers are very clean.
We spent a weekend in early May in campground 1 backing right up to one of the creeks. The sound of running water alone would have me back. Electric only and not very level site but loved it! Lots to do and see at the hatchery and play in the river. Hikes were overgrown but beautiful. Highly recommend!
I stayed in the Echo Hollow section EH4. It finally got quiet at around 9 pm. With the recent rains that just came through, the flies were really bad. I didn't cook anything just so I didn't attract more flies. There were very few people here maybe because it is the beginning of May and not peak season. It was well kept. Water and electric worked and there was a fire ring that I did not use. There was also a picnic table at each site and trees around the area. Shower house was not close to me so I did not shower until I left in the morning. The toilet house had 2 stalls with no doors or curtains in front of the toilets.
We were in Bentonville, Arkansas and decided to take a gamble on this and it was about 40 minute drive when we got there. There was plenty of space for the dog to roam without getting into high grass where ticks would be festering and it was a sweet little private getaway for a night before driving on. We highly recommend. Starlink didn't work but Verizon did for phone calls only.
We spent the night in the parking lot in our Sprinter Winnebago Revel van. The view, sounds and feels of the natural dam are stunning, relaxing and cool. A bit muddy for our dog, but great view for coffee in morning. We mountain biked Devil's Racetrack earlier and relaxed here - about 20 minute drive. The sheriff drove by early Sunday morning but didn't speak with us. Some local traffic/Saturday night dates taking photos of natural dam. It stormed at night but we were on the right side of the dam in case it flash flooded. Starlink and Verizon very spotty here. Overall a really nice campsite and we were grateful we made the drive.
A downed tree blocks part of the view, but still has a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The disbursed sight is large, but only part of it is level enough to camp on in my opinion. Spy Rock overlook is down the road and the view is spectacular. There are also nearby waterfalls to hike to.. The road was well maintained upon our arrival, but the frequent off-road vehicle traffic of the four wheelers and side-by-side that go by constantly have combined with the recent rains to degrade it over the past couple of days. Even with the traffic, we did find some time to listen to the birds and sit in silence under the dark skies. T-Mobile has anywhere from one bar LTE to three bars of 5G extended to 2 bars 5G here. I was able to stream video on my phone before bedtime each night and use my phone to plan for the following day. There are too many trees to use Starlink so this was very helpful.
This camp is well maintained. Not many Van sites less than 10. About the same tense spaces. Clean and well done showers and bathrooms. Need to make reservations for in advance three months? Workers were very helpful.
This site doesn’t have a lot of overwhelming features like playgrounds or things like that but it is beautiful and you can hear the water moving constantly. It’s just off the highway so there is some road noise, but with that being said, it allows you to basically pull off the road and pull right on. There’s no formal check in sight so if you book here you do have to book online. there is a camp host staying here but that be prepared to bring your own firewood if you want to fire if you need anything, you will have to go outside of the campsite to get it
Campground is currently (April 7) closed for maintenance and flooding. Call before you go!
