Best RV Parks & Resorts near Belgium, WI

Harrington Beach State Park Campground in Belgium provides 30-amp electric hookup sites with no water or sewer connections at individual RV sites. The gravel pads accommodate large rigs but may require significant leveling. For full hookups, Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in Milwaukee offers year-round access with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on concrete pads. Plymouth Rock Camping Resort operates seasonally from April to October with full hookup capabilities for RVs. Westward Ho RV Resort in Glenbeulah accommodates big rigs with electric, water, and sewer hookups. "The sites are gravel but very unlevel. To level my 35 foot motor home my rear tires had to come off the ground by at least 6 inches."

Throughout the region, RV parks vary significantly in their privacy and setup. Harrington Beach sites feature thick brush between spots, creating a sense of isolation despite the open, treeless campground. The dump station at the state park provides a convenient alternative to full hookups for shorter stays. Many parks in the area require reservations well in advance, particularly during summer months and weekends. Wisconsin State Fair RV Park, while essentially a parking lot environment with cement pads, maintains clean laundry and shower facilities for travelers. A review noted that despite being "the only RV site in the Milwaukee metro area," Wisconsin State Fair offers a decent base for exploring the city, though weekend minimums apply during peak season.

    Fairgrounds RV Park

    Dodge County Fairgrounds RV Park

I camped here for a month in July and now a week in Sept. Nicest people ever.
20/30/50 amp service Most sites have water hook-up Restrooms Dump station Campfires in above ground fire pits supplied by you Pet friendly I like some privacy and the opportunity to let's my dogs play freely at my campsite when I can. The site I'm at has plenty of space for them to run around my site without disturbing other campers. They have a camp host on site who is very helpful. They also have events, usually on the weekend that you can visit or participate. While I've been here they've had a circus, a carnival, a flea market, and something similar to a farmer's market. Where I've chosen to camp, I am out of the way and can enjoy the event and come back to my campsite and continue my camping without being disturbed by the event.

Kettle Moraine State Forest Long Lake Campground

    this is a BIG campground

We had been to this area three years earlier, and stayed at Mauthe lake. That suited us better because it is motorboat free, and we have a canoe. Long lake is more suited for powerboats. the sites are also large and would handle big rigs. There are six different campground loops, none near the lake (though the 700 loop has a trail to the boat launch). We stayed in the lower 900 loop, the smallest. Our site, 906, was about 30 feet from site 730. all the sites in this loop are large and deep with the exceptions of 908,910, 912 which are right up against the road and have no privacy. sites 713 & 705 run into each other and are the best for a large group and a pull-through if you get them together.
Pit toilets only. Fire rings are decent. Wood is available 24/7 through a huge "vending machine" that costs $6 (a five and a one, no change) Wood from the shed costs a dollar less, but only when the ranger is at the front gate.
There's a beach with a concession stand and a separate boat ramp with parking.
We went canoeing at the very small nearby Silver lake and had it all to ourselves.
Sad news is that the Parkside general store, with it's ice cream and home-made maple candies is out of business. Zahn's trading post is temporarily closed, and the Woodland Creek Supper club (both in New Prospect) was undergoing renovation when we were there, a shame as we loved it last time.

    Kohler-Andrae State Park

    Kohler-Andre

Living rather close to this park, this is our "go-to" place to camp. It has a great variety of activities available. There is a beach AND a dog beach so it's pet-friendly. Dogs are not allowed on all of the trails, but there are many you can take them on. Being on the water, you can swim, kayak, fish, or just soak up some rays! There are also non-reservable sites available. There are many electric sites, clean bath houses, friendly campground hosts, some rather private sites as well. It's a short walk from the campsites to the lake. Our favorite site is next to the woods where we have seen ample deer, turkey, foxes, and birds. Close to town if you need supplies, firewood and ice is available in the park.

    Wisconsin State Fair RV Park

    Really Great City Park

The quality of most city parks, especially on the east side, is abhorrent simply because they can be. I always have low expectations when I enter a city that basically has one option for RVs.

That being said, this is one of the best I’ve been to. Granted, it features things you would expect from a city park: cramped spaces, lots of noise, high nightly rates. But we lucked out getting one of the bigger spots.

Pros: LOCATION, Good wifi, great signal, friendly staff, lots of washers and dryers with a change machine, will accept and hold packages for guests.

Cons: The sewage system is strange at this park. We couldn’t reach ours during our stay and a camper had blocked the dump station so we pulled through in a vacant spot to dump. The pipe is highly elevated, making the process more hands-on than one would like. Bathrooms could have been cleaner, but I mostly blame guests for not picking up after themselves. The automated site selection process, which many have mentioned, is frustrating. I received six emails between Mar-Jun indicating they switched my spot. I noticed they placed a lot of large fifth wheels in tiny back in spaces when plenty pull throughs were available. Wonky system.

Kettle Moraine Southern Unit — Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit

    Ottawa Lake Campground

You can camp year around in this campground. Most recent 2 times were winter camping. No host so buying wood is an issue, but pick a site on the edge and there is more than enough free. Bring a saw. Nice place for solitude. No rowdies in winter. Close to hiking. 10 minutes from a town if needed.

    Waupun Park Campground

Waupun County Park WI - Campground

Family friendly campground, playgrounds, pickle ball court, showers, clean bathrooms, fire rings, shared water spigots & power at camp site. There is an outdoor pavilion for groups, firewood for sale at host. Lamp posts light camp road but not overwhelming. Nice shaded sites with mature white oak trees. Enjoyed and recommend if looking for full service campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Farms

    Convenient to the highway

General: There is both a north and a south part to this campground with a total of 178 sites. The sites in the south part are all on a grassy field and there is a small man-made lake with an inflatable play area. The sites in the north part are a mix of full hook-up and tent sites. There are also small cabins (only one of which has a bathroom) and three “condos”. These all had air-conditioners, but I did not see the inside of them. The north unit features a pond, which I was disappointed to discover was algae-filled and completely green.

Site Quality: Some are pull-through and some back-in. Some sites have electric and water hookups, some have picnic tables, and some have fire rings (but not all sites have all of these amenities). Only a handful have concrete pads; the rest are all on grass.

Our impression of Sleepy Hollow was influenced in part by the fact that it poured rain for much of our overnight stay. The roads were all dirt and with the rain, became very muddy along with the campsites as well. When leaving the next day, we had some challenges backing out of our site with the amount of mud. There is no clear delineation between the sites other than where the electric and water hookups are placed.

Bathhouse: Was very clean (in both the north and south units of the campground). Showers are available for a fee (five minutes for$1.00) but we did not use them so cannot comment on how well they worked.

Activities/Amenities: In the south unit, there is a small manmade lake with an inflatable play structure and plenty of life jackets. The color is a beautiful Caribbean blue, but it did not look natural, and I was not sure of the source of the color. We were there on a weekday in September, and no one was using the lake. There is a small bar and grill (in the north section) and a concession (south unit) on-site, but both were closed when we were there. Firewood was available (15 pieces for $10); we asked and were granted permission to use the golf cart to bring the wood to our site. Other than the lake, there really is nothing offered for recreation.

We chose this campground for its location; it is very close to Highway 41 in Oshkosh (you will hear road noise) and we were meeting family there. We checked in online the day before and arrived at 3:30 pm. No one was in the office when we arrived but the family members we were meeting had arranged for us to camp in the site next to them (not the original one we had selected). This campground is VERY close to EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), and I imagine it would be completely full during the annual EAA convention. For us, it was a convenient location but aside from spending time with our family, the reason we chose this campground.

    Harrington Beach State Park Campground

    Somewhat isolated sites

This is a nice park with very friendly staff and 50 amp power. No water or sewer but does have a dump station. The sites are gravel but very unlevel. To level my 35 foot motor home my rear tires had to come off the ground by at least 6 inches. The sites are bordered by natural grasses and foliage. That provides a feeling of isolation. If not for the unlevel sites I could easily give it 5 stars.

Long Lake Campground — Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit-Iansr

    Site 907

Our site was a bit less secluded than I’d prefer but still very nice. The loop we were on the lower 900 loop, had quite a few sites that could be combined to be group sites. Two sites completely adjoining or with very little separating them. This loop would be good for an option if the group sites are unavailable. Especially the inner loop sites that back up to each other. We walked some of the other loops and the did not all seem this way, stuff especially in the 700’s loop being a bit more wooded with some nice sites being my favorites, and also some nice sites in the upper 900’s loop that were spaced out nicely. Great hiking nearby, flush toilets, showers, nice little beach, plenty of downed wood around and also available to purchase 5$ a stack, pet friendly except no dogs allowed on the beach. There is a dog friendly picnic area near the water though. Nice get away pretty close to Milwaukee, Chicago, etc...

Guide to Belgium

In southeastern Wisconsin, Belgium's central location puts campers within 30 miles of Lake Michigan and numerous inland recreation areas. The area experiences warm summers with temperatures reaching the mid-80s and cold winters that drop below freezing. Most campgrounds in the region are open from April through October, with a few offering year-round access.

What to do

Hiking along dunes: At Kohler-Andrae State Park, trails wind through unique sand dunes and marshlands. "This campground has everything! Trails, dunes, marshes, forests, and Lake Michigan. Very well kept. Bathhouse very nice. Very nice nature center," notes Kathie M.

Beach activities: Lake Michigan offers swimming and beachcombing from May through September. "Right on Lake Michigan, had nice and clean beaches. Campsites are a nice-not the most private but its a big park, and the facilities are stocked and clean," reports Elliot Q.

Fishing opportunities: Many local lakes support panfish and bass fishing. Long Lake is particularly accessible for anglers. "Good fishing," mentions Haley K. about Mauthe Lake Campground, which offers shoreline access and boat rentals.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Naga-Waukee Park offers wooded sites that create natural barriers. "A very nice, woodsy campground. Feels like you are further north than you really are," writes Gina L. The campground maintains a natural setting despite being close to urban areas.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms and showers. "The campground facilities are clean, 30 amp at the electrical site worked perfectly. Other campers amazingly friendly," reports Elizabeth S. about Mauthe Lake.

Proximity to attractions: Long Lake Campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the region. "This campground is great for family and offers many wooded sites. The lake is rather shallow so best for swimming in early summer or warm fall days," notes Chris A.

What you should know

Seasonal constraints: Most campgrounds close by late October. "This campground is seasonal from April to November," states a park notice. Winter camping is limited to a few facilities.

Reservation requirements: Summer weekends book 3-6 months in advance at popular parks. Holiday weekends fill immediately when reservations open.

Noise considerations: Some rv parks near Belgium, Wisconsin experience traffic noise. "This is a nice campground. We didn't like our site no trees I felt like I was in my front yard," writes Lauren P. about Plymouth Rock Camping Resort.

Weather preparedness: Lake Michigan creates unpredictable conditions with sudden temperature drops and wind. "I wasn't planning on it being that cool at night, I know better now," admits Lillix E.

Tips for camping with families

Beach access: Harrington Beach State Park Campground offers family-friendly shorelines. "Took my 2 year old for first time tent camping, we were at site 231, which was huge and very nice. There is so much to do we couldn't do everything we wanted in the one night we stayed," shares Jenny L.

Playground options: Several campgrounds feature play equipment near camping loops. "There is a large open area and play area for kids to run around walkable from the camping, lots of little paths to explore," reports Kendra G.

Swimming alternatives: When Lake Michigan is too cold or rough, inland lakes provide calmer options. "Nice beach/swimming area, bike path, and playground for the kids. Also the most beautiful sunset over the lake and pines in July," mentions Kaylyn C.

Tips from RVers

Electric-only limitations: Camping options for RVs near Belgium typically offer electric without water hookups. Water fill and dump stations require planning.

Site leveling challenges: Be prepared with leveling blocks at most rv campgrounds in Belgium, Wisconsin. Sites can require significant adjustment.

Alternative full-hookup options: Wisconsin State Fair RV Park offers complete services for those needing full hookups. "Perfect campground for what it is! Big paved parking lot with full hookups. Very close to downtown, right off of interstate. Clean facilities," explains Mary G.

Reservation timing: Reserve early for summer months, particularly for larger rigs. "Summer months May through April you do have to book 2 nights minimum. That was a little annoying as it already seemed high price of $60 per night," advises Shane T.
