Best RV Parks & Resorts near Milford, PA

The tri-state region surrounding Milford, Pennsylvania offers several big-rig friendly RV parks with full hookup capabilities. Mountain Top RV Park in nearby New Jersey provides recently upgraded 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections, with pull-through sites that accommodate larger motorhomes. Tri-State RV Park in Matamoras, PA features full hookup sites with 50-amp service, though the sites are positioned relatively close together on gravel pads. For those seeking year-round options, Black Bear RV Park in Florida, NY remains open throughout all seasons with 74 sites offering both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. "The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup," noted one RV camper about the Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, which provides electric and water connections but no sewer hookups at individual sites.

Cell service varies significantly throughout the region's RV campgrounds, with several parks reporting spotty coverage for major carriers. Most RV parks in the area maintain sanitary dump stations for guests without full sewer hookups at their sites. Seasonal availability differs between parks - Timothy Lake North and South operate from May through October, while others like Black Bear RV Park remain open year-round. Navigation to some Pocono Mountain RV parks requires careful planning as steep grades and tight turns can challenge larger motorhomes. Pet-friendly policies are common across most RV campgrounds in the region, though specific restrictions may apply. During peak fall foliage season, advance reservations are essential as the limited number of full hookup RV sites fill quickly, particularly at highly-rated parks like Thousand Trails locations.

    Jellystone Park Gardiner

    FAMILY HEAVEN

This is a HUGE Jellystone park in upstate NY. There are literally hundreds of cabins and RV sites. We are in site 136, which is a back in spot. Plenty of room between campers. Gravel spot which is pretty level. Full hookups. Picnic table, cable, fire ring, large camp store, showers, toilets, and full laundry area. Also has playgrounds, pillow jump, fishing pond, golf carts, game room, Waterpark, pool, and tennis courts. All of this nestled into the mountains. Nice and family friendly.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Jellystone Park Gardiner

    Chillaxing Getaway

We stayed at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort along the Walllkill River in Gardiner, NY, for a four-night chill-out vacation. We’re so glad we did!

Our site was called Riverfront Red Carpet. It was spacious, level, waterfront, and partially shaded thanks to some mature trees. Site#22 included a large concrete pad, picnic table, charcoal grill, and large fire ring. Everything was in great condition. It was nice having plenty of space to not be on top of our neighbors. We had full hookups with 50-amp electrical service- which all worked fine.

The entire park seemed to be well maintained and clean. There’s a small waterpark which seemed good for younger kids, an eatery, and ice cream shop. The camp store was well-stocked with food, camping supplies, and souvenirs. There is a game room and multiple bath houses(which we didn’t use). The park’s roadways are all paved and easy to navigate. Despite being nearly filled to capacity including tons of young children, the park was quiet each night with no noisy ‘bad campers.’

We found our interactions with the staff to be helpful and attentive. We really appreciate friendly staff.

Overall, this was a great stay at a great RV park. I’d only mention two negatives, neither was a big deal. It took 45-minutes to check-in. In fairness, we arrived at check-in time(3:00 PM) on a Sunday. There were a dozen other RVs checking in at the same time and they just weren’t equipped for that. Also, our Verizon cell service was practically non-existent and the park’s wifi service was just as horrible. If we needed connectivity, this would have been a major problem. I reduced a star in my review simply because it’s 2021 and wifi has become an expectation.

We booked on campspot.com and paid$196 per night+$35 to lock our site+$2 booking fee less a 20% promo discount.

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

    Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

    Nice, small, spacious campground

We stayed at site 15 for 5 days. The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups. No sewer hookup, but there is a convenient dump station. There are no fire rings in the RV section, only raised grills. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. AT&T had ok data connection with 1-2 bars most of the time. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was very inconsistent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. There is a very nice network of trails in the reservation, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. There is a very nice restaurant, Stone Water, less than 10 miles away and is right on lake Hopatcong.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Panther Lake Camping Resort

    Stayed all summer

We stayed at Panther Lake as full timers all season. Great during the week but very busy on weekends. Could be noisy with children not very well supervised.
Friendly, helpful staff. Cable TV poor when it rains. Cell service spotty all carriers. No internet at sites. Lake beautiful and pool nice.

Guide to Milford

Milford, Pennsylvania motorhome parks provide varying levels of service throughout all four seasons. Winter camping options are limited but available, with Black Bear RV Park remaining open year-round. Cell phone connectivity varies significantly by location, with certain campgrounds reporting strong service while others note extensive dead zones. Both private and county-operated RV campgrounds operate within a 30-mile radius of Milford.

What to do

Experience river recreation: Soaring Eagle Campground offers access to the Delaware River for fishing, canoeing and tubing. "Great for fisherman, hikers also great for tubing down the Delaware or canoeing," notes camper Mike S. Sites are situated along the riverbank, creating convenient water access points.

Visit local farms: Regional campgrounds often include agricultural components. Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort maintains a small petting zoo with resident animals. "The farm has goats, a donkey, and a pony within the campground. Very cool," writes Faith D. Children can interact with farm animals during designated feeding times.

Enjoy recreation facilities: Several parks maintain on-site activities beyond standard camping. "They have a nice pool, playground, and activities that include bocce ball, shuffleboard, and horseshoes," reports Kasey M. about Thousand Trails Rondout Valley. Many campgrounds schedule weekend events during peak season from May through October.

What campers like

Quiet locations: Despite highway proximity of some parks, others provide peaceful settings. "A small family run campground on a farm. Large levelled spaces but a little muddy. Good for a quiet, relaxing weekend," writes Erin S. about Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort.

Spacious sites: Mountain Top RV Park receives positive feedback for site dimensions. Jason G. notes: "The newly upgraded camp infrastructure elevated the stay, providing amenities for comfort and entertainment." Mountain Top recently installed 50-amp electrical service throughout the park.

Year-round availability: For off-season camping, specific parks remain operational. "Open during the winter. Easy on, easy off. Lots of pull through sites," states BENdejo about Tri-State RV Park. Winter camping options provide heated water pipes and full hookups, though availability decreases significantly after October.

What you should know

Highway noise levels: Multiple campgrounds near Milford sit adjacent to major roadways. "Located just off the highway so lots of vehicle noise 24/7. Sites are on a gravel lot," reports Michael H. about Tri-State RV Park. Highway-adjacent campgrounds typically offer easier access but increased ambient noise.

Site conditions vary: Surface materials and levelness differ substantially between parks. At Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North, one camper noted: "Very rocky and I don't mean crushed stone, nope just rocks all over the site. Then come to find out no fire ring was available. So we took all the rocks around our site and made our own."

Facility availability fluctuates: Campground amenities may not match website descriptions. "Ignore the web site amenities and pictures, NO laundry, No store, No wifi, No personnel. You have to check in at a completely different campground then drive up here and try to find a site," cautions Rod about Timothy Lake North.

Tips for camping with families

Consider activities: Parks offer varying levels of family programming. "This is a large family campground with tons of stuff to do, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was," notes Katie B. about Thousand Trails Rondout Valley.

Check bathroom facilities: Not all campgrounds maintain similar standards. "Bathrooms for our area looks well kept outside, but, closed due to covid. Other campgrounds have just stepped up the cleaning and remained open for convenience of the campers," mentions Harold C. about Black Bear RV Park.

Verify pet policies: Most parks allow pets but enforce specific restrictions. "Great place to get away and bring your family and dogs," writes Ethan K. Pet areas vary between designated walking zones and open access throughout campground property.

Tips from RVers

Seasonal access considerations: Black Bear RV Park accommodates winter camping but with limitations. "It was more expensive than places we usually stay, and none of their amenities/buildings were open. I was warned about this when I reserved, so it was not a surprise," explains Gabbie Y.

Site selection strategy: First-come systems require planning. "This is a first-come, first-serve park in the Thousand Trails system so we had to drive around looking for a spot," shares Jim G. about Timothy Lake South. Arrive early during peak season to secure preferred locations.

Utility reliability: Water pressure and electrical service vary significantly. Don C. reports about Timothy Lake South: "Best water pressure I have seen on the east coast, unregulated it's over 80 psi. Cell service is ok. Verizon is 25 down 10 up. Tmobile is unusable." RVers should bring pressure regulators when connecting to water sources.
