    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Big Buck Campground near Grand Ronde offers free, pet-friendly camping with well-shaded sites that keep temperatures manageable during hot summer days. This primitive campground features 15 designated campsites including 2 spots specifically designed for RVs under 32 feet in length. Pets must remain leashed throughout the campground, particularly important given the nearby creek access and wildlife presence. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and a water pump, though water accessibility depends on seasonal conditions. Campers report the sites are best suited for tent camping, with limited accommodations for larger vehicles. South Lake Dispersed Area also welcomes pets, offering lakeside camping with fishing opportunities where trout can be seen jumping from the water during peak seasons.

The access road to South Lake requires careful navigation, especially with pets, as it involves driving on narrow gravel roads with steep drop-offs. This primitive camping area includes a vault toilet but no running water, making it essential to bring water supplies for both humans and pets. Hiking trails connect South Lake to nearby Hebo Lake, providing approximately 7 miles of dog-friendly hiking opportunities. Wildlife sightings include cougars in the vicinity of South Lake, necessitating extra caution when camping with pets. Camping areas fill quickly on summer weekends, with mid-week visits offering the best chance for securing a spot. The dispersed camping areas near Pioneer-Indian Trail in Siuslaw National Forest provide additional pet-friendly options with more isolated sites for those seeking greater separation from other campers and their pets.

      Big Buck Campground

A free nice campground to stay at for 10 days.

We camped here again in July. Drive 6 miles up a paved road then 1/2 mile on a dirt road. Spent 5 days in spots RV1 and RV2. They were doing some log pickup close to our spot so during the day it was sort of noisy but after 3PM things got really quiet and peaceful. Trees were very plentiful and keep us cool during the 90* days. We went up the hill to tent site#13 where there was water, but you had to pump your own. The water was very clean and tasty. They had 2 buildings that had pit toilets and 1 port-potty by the day use area by us. We walked a trail beside the day use area that went for about 1.5 miles by on of the creeks. There were many other roads that went to other trails that were longer. All was very quiet except for the cars, trucks and Jeeps that sped down the road by our camp going to the trail to the right from 7PM until 1AM. I have no idea why they were here at all because they we not camping here and drove very fast for a gravel road. Be advised even though there are 15 camp sites only(2) RV-1 and RV-2 are actually designated for motorhomes and travel trailers under 32 feet in length. Most all other sites are up a steep road but can accommodate very small RV's but mostly tent camping area. Little to no cell service right at the base of the campground. Just a 1/2 mile back to the asphalt road there is 1 bar at the very least. This campground is 6 miles up a small paved road from Grand Ronde then a half mile on a gravel road in a heavily wooded area to the first RV camp site#1 and#2.

      Tent camping

Well we did not know that when tent camping you can only stay two weeks we were originally told we could stay as long as we wanted as long as we moved and did not stay in a spot more than 7 days. Not a bad campground just don't like the two week stay rule. Plus my cat loves it. There is a natural that can be walked, a dog park, swimming pool, also a place to throw disc golf disc's.

Month Long Stay at Corvallis KOA

Spent a month in an RV space at this KOA. My first experience at a KOA couldn’t have gone better. Staff was friendly, facilities were clean, and fellow RVers were quiet and respectful. We stayed here with a dog and were really happy with amenities such as the dog park and small trail behind campground. Really phenomenal and kind workers as well. Would stay again. We stayed during the wet season, and it was not very busy here. We did have some issues with moisture in RV, would definitely recommend having a dehumidifier. Showers and bathrooms cleaned daily and were very clean always. There is also a nice laundry facility (coin operated) and sink for washing dishes. Two bathrooms and a dog park. Electric hookups, black water dump, and water hookup at site.

      Hebo Lake Campground

      My favorite place

My absolute favorite place to camp in Oregon!!!! Always clean, quite, peaceful, and just perfect!!!! The fishing is always great and when the onshore flow comes over the trees, it's nothing short of a miracle and magic.

      Silver Falls State Park Campground

      Absolutely beautiful

If you want to camp in Oregon this is the place to go. There are several waterfalls and hiking trails. You can see wildlife and you can't beat the beauty. You can tent camp and they also have yurts.

      Nehalem Bay State Park Campground

      Busy

We liked the location and the access to the beaches, however it was very crowded. We have dogs, but walking them was a bit difficult. There were so many pets and people it was hard to enjoy our walks.

      Nehalem Bay State Park Campground

      SPECTACULAR wildlife all around

      [ PROS ]

      • We came during offseason (November) and camped at this State Park for 3 nights. Man, it was so amazing. It was super quiet and empty so we felt like we had the entire park to ourselves.

      • A family of deer visited us every single morning/night during our stay. We definitely didn't try to interact with them, but they were comfortable to roam right around our site which was a really magical experience

      • Nehalem Bay is such a beautiful area and the State Park is nestled in lots of beautiful, lush greenery. There are lots of birds, plants, and other wildlife to observe. We loved hearing coyotes yapping in evenings from the campground.

      • It's very peaceful and serene here. It's right by the beach and an easy walk to the coast. We also got to visit Manzanita for a little day trip and had lunch out there. Such a cute little coastal town worth checking out.

      • Free hot showers and really nice restrooms. I'm starting to realize that Oregon State Parks are SOOO much superior to California State Parks. The amenities at all the Oregon campgrounds I've visited are wonderful. We definitely got spoiled by camping in Oregon that it will be hard going back home to California

      • Very close to stores, restaurants, and gas stations if you need to pick up supplies.

      [ CONS ]

      • While it was a beautiful campground, the sites are rather small and close together. We obviously didn't experience this campground when it's crowded, but I can imagine how packed it would feel.

      Pleasant Valley RV Park

It was ok, some good, some bad

The park was clean and it had a nice dog park for our dog to run in. There were rabbits all over the park which was fun to watch.

The showers and laundry were clean as well. Tmobile was nonexistent in the area and Wifi from the park was abysmal. There are a lot of full time residences here but they were all very friendly.

    Guide to Grand Ronde

Big Buck Campground offers free pet-friendly camping 6 miles up a paved road from Grand Ronde, followed by a half-mile gravel road. This established Forest Service campground provides 15 campsites with designated tent and RV areas, though only sites RV-1 and RV-2 accommodate vehicles under 32 feet in length. Pets are allowed throughout the campground with standard leash requirements. The campground features pit toilets, trash collection, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Cape Lookout State Park and Devil's Lake State Recreation Area also welcome pets at their tent sites, RV spots, cabins, and yurts. Most campers report the Big Buck sites are well-shaded with trees positioned perfectly for hammock camping.

South Lake Dispersed Area provides another pet-friendly option with primitive camping around a small lake. Located on gravel forest roads that require careful navigation, South Lake campsites are designated by rock-ringed fire pits rather than numbered sites. Dogs can enjoy the lakeside environment with easy access to water, though campers should be aware of wildlife—one visitor reported seeing a cougar as they were leaving. The vault toilet is maintained with toilet paper and located on the northwest side of the lake. Trails connect campsites to the lake and surrounding forest, including a 7-mile hiking route between South Lake and Hebo Lake that's suitable for dogs. The lake is stocked with trout for fishing, making it ideal for campers who want to bring their pets along for a fishing trip.
