A Shell of Its Former Self

Highlights of the trip included a somewhat secluded site by the river, pavilion tater tots and the pool. This campground was once thriving with activities and events and a real sense of community. Now, it seems hollow and unkept. Bathrooms and Showers were filthy.

Nice, lots of sites!

There were a lot of sites that were sort of close together. I was a little nervous for the kids riding bikes because of all the traffic. The campgrounds so big things are far apart and people need to drive to get to the beach, pool, store etc. it was nice just not as relaxing and quite as I would have liked. A

Just o.k., a little too busy

This is a total family playground and if that is what you are looking for, this is your place! There are tons of activities, lots of families and “stuff” going on all the time and not really what we look for in a campground but it fits the bill for some people. Most of the sites are a bit too close for our particular liking but we’ve seen worse. It seems they just jammed in as many campsites as possible.

Our site was fine and large enough to accommodate our RV and tow car but some campsites were pretty small and would not fit large RVs. Roads in the park are confusing because none are parallel or perpendicular so we had to go slow just to make sure we didn’t miss a turn in the RV. Luckily, the receptionist in the office highlighted the route we needed to take to get to our site which was very helpful. The campground is very spread out so people are always driving cars or golf carts to get to the activities, visit friends or go to the pool. The shower building closest to us wasn't very clean but that was probably due to the volume of people using it. We have a self-contained unit and since we had FHU, we didn’t have to use the bathrooms, which we were glad about. The campground is pretty clean and we didn’t see any trash laying around. Most sites were clean and tidy and not full of seasonal campers with lots of junk. The cable tv was a nice amenity since the trees would have blocked our satellite access. Since we camped in May, there were quite a few bugs. Mostly mosquitos that were quite pesky but I’m guessing they may die down in the season and also depend on if your site is near standing water. Park access is easy from the interstate; however, that also means road noise at night if you are camped near the front of the park.

Overall, this was not our kind of campground. There are lots of amenities and activities for kids and families but we typically do not use those. We were there in May (which is early in the season) so not all the amenities were open. Essentially, we were paying for things we did not use. Campsites in the park are pretty inconsistent– meaning some are long and wide with good privacy but others are not. With over 400 campsites there are a lot to chose from and hard to know which is best for you unless you have been there before.

Family Fun

There is a FULL schedule of themed activities for the kiddos, weekly. You’ll also a well stocked store as well as a really good restaurant/bar on site. The purple section is the quietest and the blue is closest to the activities. The river is not accessible from the sites on the river as you must use the designated river access points. Electric scooters, mini bikes and gas golf carts are not allowed. Some sites in the park are fantastic and others really suck. Typical, I think. We will come back, but will aim for shoulder season. Martha’s is a must for local ice cream!

Nasty Bathrooms & Showers

The campground had a lot of great activities, but I can’t say enough about the bathrooms and showers. They were absolutely disgusting. It was very concerning due to COVID-19. They should have taken more care during these times of concern. I would definitely stay away from this campground at least until Covid-19 is over.

Fun tubing and great staff

We stayed here back in 2016 when the Adirondack Safari had their glamping sites here. We loved it. The best part honestly was tubing down the river. They had a great camp store that had everything you can think of including great beer.

Disneyworld atmosphere

I have been coming to Lake George escape for 15 years now and I have watched it's transformation from a family run business to a corporate campground. I loved when it was smaller operational wise, It had a more rustic appeal to it , the camp store was small and just had a dated vibe about it. That being said it's become a big operation. They offer everything now , it really is like being at Disney. The daily schedual for the kids it's non-stop all day , they rent golf carts ,kayaks , pedal carts, canoes .They have cabin rentals , pool , a restaurant ,bar , dancing. It's perfect if you prefer glamping but you can also get a site off grid at the same time. You need to see there website to get a full picture of it.

Nice all around

It’s been a few years since we were there last but always enjoyed going here. Facilities were always clean. Campground is pet friendly and have a small dog park. Pool was looking a bit outdated when we were last there but totally functional. We’d go back in a second.

Convenient and family oriented

I stayed at this campground a couple weekends ago. It was very family oriented in the sense of so many activities to do from laser tag to basketball and so much more. I usually prefer to camp where I’m more secluded, but the convenience of the store and the Schroon river being so close for kayaking was def a plus. If you’ve got a big family to keep busy during the summer months this place is for you.

Friendly staff n guests, Clean, All around great activities.

Campground is placed 10 minutes from the bottom of Lake George with great hiking trails in the surrounding area. The campground it’s self it’s very clean in every aspect. On a river with water activities, beach, pool, a BAR, and so many more outdoor activities. Every night there are wagon tours of the campground, staff is seen frequently but very relaxed environment. Very family and pet friendly (They have their own dog park!) This was my 5th summer going up with friends and about our 8th trip overall and every time it’s a great experience!

Sites-the section we were in the sites were huge and clean, the grass needed to be cut.

Staff was excellent! Helpful and Courteous

If you need a baby sitter this is a place for you,

No adult supervision . Kids riding motorized scooters, mini bikes, and driving golf carts.

Definitely going over the 5mph posted limit.

Dog park needed to have the grass cut.

Bugs are horrible bring bug spray and a screenhouse.

Don't pay xtra for water site on frog pond. That's exactly what you get a grass and frog swap.

Boat launch clearly marked no swimming and no going to the other side. Clearly people can not read.

If you have young children this is the place for you, many activities for children.

Wi-Fi - If you need internet they charge you for it. Most campgrounds offer free Wi-Fi (we did pay the $15 because we needed it for work).

Over priced if you don't have children to take advantage of the activities offered.

Suggestion allow pet swimming at the boat launch.

Glamping at its Finest!

The tent we stayed in was gorgeous! We fit 5 of us comfortably. Linens, blankets and pillows were provided. There was a fire pit, BBQ, picnic table with umbrella, covered platform, and a partition between campsites. There were plenty or outdoor activities to do such as swimming, tubing, kayaking, sports, and bike rentals. They had a gift shop and arcade on site as well. We unfortunately got hit with some pretty bad weather so we couldn't enjoy the grounds as much as we would have liked to but that was obviously not their fault. We had to evacuate the mountain our last evening because of really bad thunder and lightening but the ranger was very helpful and came around to warn us all and encourage us to be careful. They even refunded us for that last night. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a real "glamping" experience! You always see those fancy campsites on Pinterest or Instagram so now you can experience it yourself close to home if you live in NY.

We made the most of our rainy weekend by checking out the town and some caves. Plenty to do in the area of you want to venture out of the campgrounds but if you're there with good weather I doubt you will be bored!!

Heavy summer crowds, but lots to do

This place was fun - pool with slide, access to the lake, surrounded by mountains and quick access to town where everything you need is at your fingertips. Ice cream shops, stores, outfitter, restaurants...but beware in your time of year choice - it gets loud and crowded!

This camp ground is very family friendly and has many different activities that are great for families as well. Wether you are sliding down the water slide, taking a dip in the pools, playing at the arcade or doing some shopping in the area you are bound to have a great time! Areas can be crowded, and beware of those prices at the camp store!

Slide into Summer with a fun trip!

Great Camper camp ground! This place is great for families, it has different activities, a waterslide, peddle carts, kayaks and boats for rent, dancing, and teen specific activities too! Great location with a few pools, arcade room and even some tubing trips! Sites are pretty spacious and encompass that camping feel without roughing it (although you can use a tent here too). Bathhouses are clean and pretty close to sites.
