Nice lake, rough road

Great campground for summer. The lake is beautiful and cool. Large boat access area. There is a nice trail through the area, day use and overnight spaces. A little camp store with the basics. Not a lot of shade so make sure to bring sunscreen. Keep an eye out for snakes on the trail. The road is…

A little quiet stay

A little over-priced but super cute and fairly dispersed.

Great location with a caveat

Pull up next to the lake. Electric, wood, toilets, noisy boat docking, gnats available. Office super friendly and helpful. Fishing near dam close by.

Black Sandy State Park

July 20-23, 2019 Will not return. Sites 002 and 021 Electric and water available. Dump station out of order. Flush toilets. In order to use cellular, we had to boost. Dirt roads - windy and dusty. We were packed in like sardines.

Quiet, remote gem along a beautiful babbling brook

Wonderful, quiet site along a little-used forest road. We had the site at the end of the road, which is very close to the babbling brook, leading to Mill Falls. Plenty of space at this site, although the other three main sites are smaller and closer together. There are two overflow sites nearer to…

  • Spacious campsite at the end of the road. Cooling shade, plenty of flat spots for tents, and lots of trees for hammocks!
  • Perfect place for our REI Camp Dome 6 (10'x10').

Not well maintained.

There is a toilet and that's about it. Everything is overgrown. I would not come back here.

Great place for an overnight!

We stayed one night on our way through the area. It was convenient. The campsites are plentiful and not as close to eachother as others. Bathrooms spotless. After hours check-in was a breeze! Will use again.

Very Quiet

About 10-15min drive off of the highway. Last half is gravel. Three hiking trails nearby. Clean long drop toilet. Cold water. $15.00 per night. No power. Big level lots for trailers. The trailhead gets busy with hikers and horse trailers.

Basic RV park

We decided to not stay here, because we are tent camping this trip. If you have an RV or Trailer, this would be a good stop if you are in Great Falls.

Big Nelson not big no no no it is small very small.

Big Nelson Campground is anything but big. This is a tiny cramped campground. I found 6 campsites, but the Forest Service website list this campground as having four. With the exception of site three, all the other sites require you to park in a parking area. Site 3 was the first site I noticed on…

Nice Spot

Lots of hiking opportunities at the campground, The campground sits across the road from a small "lake" which is good for kayaking and fishing. There are some sunny sites but mostly shady. We stayed on site #3 for 3 nights. All the sites are spacious. There is a hand pump for water and a vaulted…

What a gem

Great little campground! Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Overall there are two toilets and one water pump to share. The lake is small but fishing for trout was exciting with catches often! We used dry fly and luer. We were able to walk all the way around the lake on a dirt trail and…
