    Fish Lake Acres Campground

    Quiet, Lake Views

This campground is great especially when compared with state park camping. Full hookups available, quite a few pull through lots and close to the twin cities! No wifi, so make sure you've got decent cell service and hotspot if you need internet/wifi. Verizon gets ok coverage here, T-Mobile does too. Showers/bathhouses are clean and the hot water runs forever and not coin operated or push button like some others I've been to! Bonus! Good toilet paper in the bathrooms not the cheap stuff. The lake is literally out your door and they do have a small swimming beach and boat launch. MN Horse and Hunt club is about a mile or so up a trail access that is Almosy directly across from the camp entrance. There is an ATM there along with a bar and restaurant. Be prepared to hear gunshots regularly but it's not really bothersome unless you aren't prepared for it. The trail to the club is safe to walk though. The campground ONLY accepts cash so be sure to hit the ATM before you get here. They also charge $2 extra per dog if you have them. Nightly rate for the full hookup site I had was $32 with the dog. They charge .50 c per log for firewood. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The staff are really nice and laid back. It's a really nice little campground!

    Lebanon Hills Regional Park

    Friendly staff & quiet

Great location for easy access to mountain bike trails. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Nice trail within the campground. Some sites are more shaded than others in the east loop so look at photos if you want shade. Sites that back up to the green space are very sunny. 87 is a great site! Plenty of space for a trailer or tent with a private “nook” for the fire pit.

    Tresure Island RV Park

    It’s a parking lot…

We are here for a show at the casino and thought it would be fun to bring the camper down and glamp for the weekend. It is just a parking lot but the sites are all pull through and there is plenty of room between sites and ours was perfectly level.

We have dogs so the fact that it’s all asphalt and rock is a bit of a bummer but we are close to the exercise area and they do love little walks. It also seems to be controlling some of the normal bad pet parent behavior we see at even parks. Like letting the dogs run with out leashes or tethering them all day to bark at everything.

The sites do not have fire rings but there are some community ones and it appears the other campers brought their own smokeless fire pits to use.

There is a shuttle to the casino and at 7pm folks seemed to clear out to head over. It was honestly one of the quietest campgrounds we’ve been to on a Friday night.

The bath house is newer and super clean- not a single creepy spider web in any corners.

On Verizon I have full bars so we haven’t tried the park WiFi but we’ve been able to use our chrome cast and two iPads off my cell phone with zero issues. Because it’s in a river valley the air tv single is terrible so we are glad to have the chrome cast with us- since the forecast called for a raining day.

    Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

    Great for the kiddos

For a County Park, Lake Elmo has an impressive list of amenities. Before we even get to the campsite let's mention the filtered swimming pond. This man made pond is a sandy bottom and surrounded by a nice sand beach. Large built in umbrellas are available for sun coverage and there is a concession stand and bathrooms with showers. And yes, as I mentioned the water is filtered! No gross goose poop or green algae to deal with! Next to the swim pond is a giant playground with fun for the big and little kids. Other amenities include archery, horse trails, paved and grass trails, camper spots, rustic spots and hike in camping spots. In winter the xc ski trails are lit for evening skiing. Or let's be honest early afternoon. It is Minnesota and the suns down by 4 In the Winter! They also have a newer Nordic center that's open all year round and includes a locker room with showers. The hike in camp spot we chose was on a small lake so it had a nice breeze and made it easy to bring a kayak or paddleboard and hop right in. There is also a boat launch for your larger toys! The trails in the park are quite impressive for its size. We enjoyed a 5 mile loop off the Nordic center and right past the camp spot. A picnic table and fire pit as well as nice flat tent pad were provided. If you're coming in from out of town then you're just a 5 minute drive from Woodbury and all the amenities you'd ever need but the park feels miles away from it all.

    River View Campground

Our LGBT family wouldn't stay here again

First of all, the good - we appreciated the campground being able to accommodate our last-minute reservation. The bathrooms and showers were small but nice, and my kids liked the playground. Full hookups. They also have a camp store that seemed well-stocked, and an activity room for weekly Bingo, etc.

The bad - while the long term sites were pretty, level, and relatively private, our site was definitely none of those. Very unlevel gravel and mud and very close to our neighbors. We were excited for the laundry room but they had to shut it down because of a leak, and the clothes we did wash didn't seem to come out clean. Finally, our LGBTQ family didn't feel very comfortable because of the amount of conservative paraphernalia displayed by both the owners/staff and some of the other visitors.

Overall, our family wouldn't stay here again.

    Tresure Island RV Park

    No frills, well-maintained, and clean

This is a typical casino parking lot RV "park" with full hookups. It is basically a parking lot with mostly pull through sites. The last row consists of "deluxe" back-in sites with a few trees. That being said, it is well maintained, the sites are level, the park was clean, and the utilities were in good working order. It was quite and easy to get in and out of. The shower house was adequate as well. We would stay here again. We camped at Treasure Island RV Park in a Motorhome.

Guide to Randolph

Camping opportunities near Randolph, Minnesota include several full-hookup RV parks within a 30-minute drive. The area sits at approximately 920 feet elevation in Dakota County's rolling farmland, with seasonal camping typically running from mid-April through October. Summer temperatures average 83°F with high humidity, making water access particularly valuable for campers seeking relief from the heat.

What to do

Fishing access points: Lake Byllesby Regional Park offers shoreline fishing opportunities with catfish and bass catches reported. "We didn't get to swim at the lake because it was shut down due to a chemical spill at the time, but we did walk over and check it out. The views are great!" noted a visitor to Lake Byllesby Regional Park.

Biking trails: The paved trails near Cannon Falls provide scenic routes for cyclists. "Near lake and excellent bike path. Great brewery and winery close by," mentioned one camper about Lake Byllesby Regional Park. The Cannon Valley Trail connects to multiple camping areas.

Casino entertainment: Several RV parks offer direct access to casino entertainment. "Shuttle takes you to casino, but sometime we don't even go there and just enjoy the area," reported a visitor at Dakotah Meadows RV Park, which provides regular transportation to gaming facilities.

Mayo Clinic proximity: Hidden Meadows RV Park serves as a convenient base for medical appointments. "This is very convenient if you have Mayo Clinic appointments. The campground was nice with grassy sites along with electric and water hook ups, there was a dump station also," explained one visitor about the campground's practical location.

What campers like

Quiet, well-maintained sites: Crystal Springs RV Resort maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization. "Nice, quiet 50+ campground. Everything is nice and well kept," noted one visitor at Crystal Springs RV Resort. The campground enforces quiet hours after 10 p.m.

Security features: Several parks provide enhanced security measures for campers. "Security patrols regularly and there is shuttle if you want to visit casino," mentioned a reviewer about Dakotah Meadows RV Park, which includes regular staff monitoring of the grounds.

Level concrete pads: Many parks offer stabilized parking areas for easier RV setup. "Beautiful campground with cement parking pads with full hookups. The grass around the lots is very green, lush and well maintained," commented one visitor about the thoughtful site design at Dakotah Meadows.

Community fire areas: When individual fire rings aren't available, shared fire pits create gathering spots. "The sites do not have fire rings but there are some community ones and it appears the other campers brought their own smokeless fire pits to use," noted a camper at Treasure Island RV Park.

What you should know

Summer reservation requirements: Booking well in advance is essential during peak season. "It's not too easy to get spots on the holiday weekends, but somehow we managed it," mentioned a visitor at Lake Byllesby Regional Park. Most parks require reservations 3-6 months ahead for summer weekends.

Limited grass at some parks: Several RV facilities have minimal natural ground cover. "First time camping with our new RV. No grassy areas so if you have animals you need to walk a bit to get to the grass," noted a Treasure Island RV Park visitor, highlighting the predominantly paved nature of casino campgrounds.

Age restrictions: Some parks cater specifically to older campers. Crystal Springs RV Resort is designed as a "Nice, quiet 50+ campground" according to reviewers, with facilities and activities geared toward adult campers rather than families with children.

Variable internet access: WiFi quality differs substantially between parks. "On Verizon I have full bars so we haven't tried the park WiFi but we've been able to use our chrome cast and two iPads off my cell phone with zero issues," reported a camper at Treasure Island, while another park noted "WiFi is not great, less than 1MB download speeds from our site."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Cleary Lake Regional Park offers recreation areas for children within walking distance of campsites. "I really like the hike in sites. Short walk from the car and right by the water yet spaced nicely for privacy," mentioned one visitor about the family-friendly layout.

Swimming areas: Water recreation options vary seasonally at local parks. "The lake had a blue green algae problem. Other than that it was great and had fun geocaching spots," noted one family about their experience at Lake Byllesby Campground, highlighting the importance of checking water conditions.

Site spacing considerations: Family groups should consider how close neighboring sites are. "Camping spots are rather close, but we have two little ones so they made friends quick with other children," reported a visitor to Lake Byllesby Regional Park, noting the social advantages for children despite the proximity.

Geocaching opportunities: Several parks offer geocaching as a family activity. "When we went the lake had a blue green algae problem. Other than that it was great and had fun geocaching spots," mentioned a visitor at Lake Byllesby Campground, highlighting alternative recreation when swimming isn't available.

Tips from RVers

Level site selection: RV campers emphasize the importance of level parking areas. "The utilities are in the middle of the site and worked well with water pressure near 45 psi. The sites are decently spaced for this type of CG," noted a visitor at Crystal Springs RV Resort about the practical setup.

Winter accessibility: Limited options exist for cold-weather camping. Town & Country Campground in Savage remains open year-round, though with reduced services. "If you're looking for an RV Park in the Shakopee/Savage area this place is nice. Game room small pool unfortunately all closed due to COVID but super cute little park," mentioned a visitor at Town & Country Campground.

Utility placement: The location of hookups can affect RV positioning. "Oddly spaced power hook up with sewer and water placements. Overall not a horrible experience but not a great one," reported a camper at Hidden Meadows RV Park, noting the importance of checking hookup configurations before arrival.

RV washing facilities: Some parks provide cleaning options for vehicles. "There is a RV wash bay available for a fee and the campground even has gasoline available 24 hours a day using a credit card," noted a visitor about the practical amenities at Dakotah Meadows RV Park.
