CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Camping options near Delray Beach, Florida include a mix of RV resorts and county or state park campgrounds within a 30-mile radius of the city. Established campgrounds like Del Raton RV Park provide full hookup sites in an urban setting, while John Prince Park Campground offers both tent and RV camping with waterfront sites on Lake Osborne. For those seeking a more natural setting, Jonathan Dickinson State Park, located approximately 30 miles north, provides cabin accommodations alongside traditional camping areas. Several private RV parks cater specifically to larger recreational vehicles, including Bee Healthy Honey Farms with its unique setting on a working honey farm.

Most campgrounds in the Delray Beach area remain open year-round due to Florida's mild winter climate, though advance reservations are strongly recommended during the peak winter season from January through March when northern visitors seek warmer conditions. Summer camping brings hot, humid weather with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September. Many facilities offer full hookups with water, electric, and sewer connections to accommodate extended stays. Most campgrounds maintain paved or gravel sites with concrete patio pads. A camper noted, "We loved staying here, very nice and quiet. If you're looking for something that is a little different than just the typical RV park with a ton of other campers this is the place."

Waterfront campsites consistently receive positive feedback from visitors, particularly at John Prince Park Campground where lakeside spots provide scenic views and access for paddling and fishing. Several campgrounds feature limited shade, which campers should consider when planning summer visits. Site spacing varies significantly between facilities, with some offering generous separation while others position units close together. Bathroom and shower facilities are generally well-maintained at county and state parks. A recent review mentioned, "Loved this park, so much to do, clean all around, wonderful staff." Wildlife sightings, including iguanas and various bird species, add to the natural experience despite the urban setting of many campgrounds. Proximity to beaches, shopping, and restaurants makes the Delray Beach area practical for campers seeking convenience alongside outdoor recreation.

River Camground — Jonathan Dickinson State Park

    Nice but buggy

Quiet clean level sites. Bathrooms are clean One washer and dryer busy and sometimes jammed Cell reception fine Verizon and att. Could do video calls no problem. My only complaint are the bugs. Lots of bugs. The “no see um” are terrible. They are little tiny bugs that fly. They are so small the go right through your screen on your door or window. You typically won’t notice them until they bit.

    Torry Island Campground

    Easy access, quiet, great staff

What a surprise to find this location at the last minute when  I had to go to Belle Glade. Very easy to book, the staff were wonderful. Nice, large grass-covered spot for a truck with a bed camper. Power was sufficient for my needs, and water was accessible. Glad I brought my fishing rod! What a way to start the day, right on the water! I can see where insects could be bad, but the camp host said they have a program for controlling insects in summer. Bathhouse was clean and water was hot. Only needed one night stay but will be returning! So convenient to local attractions.

    Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground

    Great Park

Clean park friendly staff. Great amenities. There are not many downsides two that I want to discuss. The campground does sit next to a train track i believe its a commuter line so there is an early train 4am which is startling. Other downside is park closes at 8, you can still enter through the exit gate until midnight and then have to call security to get in/out.

    Markham Park Campground

A Great Stay at Markham Park!

I stayed at Markham Park on July 28 and had a wonderful experience. The campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers plenty of space between sites, giving a nice sense of privacy. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of shaded areas, clean facilities, and easy access to nature trails, bike paths, and water activities.

What I loved most was how much there is to do right on site—whether you enjoy kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, or just relaxing by your campsite, this park has it all. The staff was friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy.

Overall, Markham Park is a perfect spot for a quick getaway or a longer camping trip. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Pahokee Marina & Campground

    Stunning Views, But Needs Improvements

This campground offers one of the best lakefront views in all of Florida—truly a hidden gem if you’re looking to camp right on the water. The sunsets over Lake Okeechobee are absolutely breathtaking and unlike anywhere else in the state.

The campground does include a pool, which is a nice touch, but unfortunately the amenities are quite limited. The office is closed on Sundays, so plan ahead if you need assistance or have questions during your stay.

The biggest downside was the condition of the restrooms—they were in very poor shape and had a strong, unpleasant odor. This definitely impacted the overall experience.

With a little maintenance and more attention to guest services, this place could easily be a five-star destination. For now, come for the view, but manage your expectations for everything else.
