Tomorrow Wood Campground provides lakefront pet-friendly sites with full hookups for RVs and tent campers, offering economical rates for pet owners seeking water access. Campgrounds near Hancock generally permit pets with standard leash requirements and waste disposal rules, though specific restrictions vary by location. Bathrooms and shower facilities at many area campgrounds receive high marks for cleanliness, particularly at Coloma Camperland where exceptional bathroom cleanliness was noted alongside their pet-friendly policy. Most campgrounds offer water and electric hookups with designated pet areas, though amenities like dedicated dog parks are limited compared to larger resort-style campgrounds.

Pineland Camping Park features gravel sites that accommodate pets but can be rough on paw pads, prompting some visitors to bring protective dog boots for comfort. The surrounding area offers numerous recreational opportunities for dogs and owners, including nearby hiking trails and water access at campgrounds like Tomorrow Wood where the lake provides cooling relief during summer months. Seasonal camping is available at several pet-friendly locations, including Oasis Campground where the sandy beach area and water recreation prove popular with families and their pets. Winter camping options are limited, with most campgrounds operating from spring through fall. Wildlife considerations are important when camping with pets in the region, as the wooded surroundings typical of central Wisconsin campgrounds can attract various animals, necessitating proper leash control and food storage.

      Wisconsin Dells KOA

Good campground for families with kids

A central playground and pool are the biggest draws for families with kids. There's also a prospecting 'sluice' that you can buy for the kids to look for 'fossils' and interesting rocks.

The campground is located just north of the main attractions of Wisconsin Dells.

Campsites are not overly generous in size -- typical KOA, where some are 'stacked like cordwood'. Don't go there if you want any privacy from your neighbors.

Cabins are available for those wanting to 'camp' without a camper.

      Very small dog park area.

Friendly check in staff. However, we were given a map with our campsite noted and told to wait for a person driving a golf cart to escort us and help us get situated. We waited...and waited...and waited...golf carts came and went, but passed us by. We finally gave up waiting and found out site by ourselves.

      Ho-Chunk RV Resort & Campground

Convenient RV Stay Near the Dells

Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells RV Park is a nice option if you want an easy RV stay close to the casino and Wisconsin Dells attractions. I like that it feels convenient and low-hassle, with full hook-up sites, Wi-Fi, showers, laundry, a playground, pet area, and access to some hotel/casino amenities.

Pros: great location, full hook-ups, convenient amenities, close to entertainment.

Cons: it is more practical than scenic, and it is RV-only, so no tent camping.

Overall, it’s a good pick if you want a comfortable RV base near the Dells instead of a rustic campground.

      Glacier Valley Campground

      Fun place

Nice, clean, well maintained campground with something for everyone. Swimming pond is huge with toys for everyone. You can bring your own pool toys. Sites are decently spacious and decently level with some gravel and some grass. Bathhouse is nice & clean. Office/store has some logo goodies as well as any necessities you may need. They had a beer tasting going on, live music at the pavilion- both on a Saturday during our stay. A couple trails around for walks with dogs & a dog park. Lively campground during the day but nice & quiet at night with quiet hours being 11pm-8am.

      Rocky Arbor State Park Campground

Wooded, beautiful, and secluded but nearby the Dells!

This park gives the option of both tent and camper sites. Many of the sites are separated from others by some space and numerous trees, tucked back away in the pine forest. The secluded nature gives it the feel of a National Park with beautiful stretches of pine and rocky ledges. Most sites are quiet, with only the slightest hum of the interstate in the background (although a couple may be loud, so beware which site you book). Staff is friendly and helpful, firewood is available at the park. Many pit toilets are available, as well as running water/showers. Playgrounds are also in the park, a pet area, water fill up station, some trails (nothing much for hiking). Very very close to the Dells as well! Mosquitoes are terrible during the summer, but that’s to be expected anywhere in Wisconsin.

      Duck Creek Campground

      Great place for the kids

The staff here was extremely friendly.  We did not spend a lot of time at the campground since we were there for the Dells on a long trip from Atlanta, GA to Duluth, MN.  The kids did have a blast in the pond and there is a really nice dog park that our pup enjoyed.  There is also a restaurant on site and a small bar down by the pond that were both closed while we were there (we came in after 4th of July weekend and they were taking some time off after the holiday) but seem like they would be great amenities.  We would definatley stay again if going to the Dells (about 30 min away).  Also, do yourself a favor and stock up at the Lodi Meat Market!

    Guide to Hancock

Hancock, Wisconsin sits within the Central Sand Plains ecological landscape, characterized by flat, sandy soils and numerous wetlands. Summer temperatures typically range from 75-85°F with cooler evenings dropping to 55-60°F. The region features several lakefront campgrounds with swimming beaches and fishing opportunities that remain accessible through early fall, with most facilities closing by late October.

    What to do

Hiking trails: Hartman Creek State Park features accessible hiking paths for various skill levels. "There is ample hiking opportunities in the area, some you can walk to from the campground, some requires a small amount of driving," reports Jimmy P., who found the park's mix of trails accommodating for families.

Fishing opportunities: Buckhorn State Park provides multiple fishing spots along Castle Rock Lake. According to Stephen T., "The fishing is fantastic with Striped, Largemouth, and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Musky, and all kinds of panfish." The park offers free fishing poles and tackle for beginners.

Water recreation: Oasis Campground & Waterpark features lake inflatables popular with families. Ellen A. notes, "Love the pool and lake with inflatables. Great bar too!" The campground maintains water features throughout the summer season.

Wildlife viewing: Petenwell Park offers lakefront sites ideal for wildlife observation. "Our campsite was secluded and was right next to the water," states one visitor who enjoyed the natural setting while launching kayaks directly from their site.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Coloma Camperland receives consistent praise for maintenance. Chuck W. emphasizes, "VERY CLEAN showers & restrooms. Very safe area for a good night's rest." The campground's proximity to I-39 makes it convenient for overnight stays.

Private beach access: Buckhorn State Park offers walk-in sites with personal waterfront. "We got one of the spots that you needed to hike out to but it wasn't far at all... We had a little slice of beach and it was very beautiful during sunset," shares Stephanie S. about the secluded camping experience.

Spacious sites: Vista Royale Campground provides larger sites set among pine trees. Jason W. appreciates that "sites are very roomie, tons of stuff for the kids to do." The planted pines create natural separation between neighboring campsites.

Ranger programs: Hartman Creek State Park offers interpretive activities. Ashley Y. recalls, "Wisconsin state parks has a really great junior ranger type program for kids my parents checked us out an interpretive backpack loaded with fun park activities that kept us all busy the whole weekend."

    What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer storms can impact camping conditions. Jeremy W. notes that at Pineland Camping Park, "Prior to our stay they had excessive rain which flooded a lot of parts of the campground and also caused it to be unbearable with mosquitoes even with heavy layer of deep woods off."

Insect preparation: Bug protection is essential from May through September. Kalene H. warns about Buckhorn State Park: "I may be biased because I really hate mosquitos and ticks but wow! The ticks here are so tiny they're very easy to miss so look out for those. Also the mosquitos never let up - even in the rain."

Limited services: Many campgrounds near Hancock have minimal nearby amenities. "Bring what you need as the closest gas station is 15 miles away," advises Jay about Petenwell Park, highlighting the importance of arriving prepared.

Road noise: Some campgrounds experience highway sounds. Stephen T. observes about Roche A Cri State Park: "Adams County is rather flat and sound carries. You will hear cars on the highway at night in the distance."

    Tips for camping with families

Geocaching adventures: Buckhorn State Park offers free GPS units for treasure hunting. Liz M. shares, "When we arrived and checked in we grabbed one of their pre-loaded GPS units for Geocaching; It's something the park offers for free. They give you a bag, GPS and information book on all the Geocaching sites."

Theme weekends: Vista Royale Campground schedules special events throughout the season. Cassie W. mentions, "We return yearly for trick or treat weekend. We also camp during the summer as well! Had my kids double birthday party here and it was fun!"

Swimming options: Dog friendly campgrounds near Hancock often include swimming areas. Ginny B. enthuses about Petenwell Park: "We stayed at sites right on the lake and they were hands down the most beautiful sites I've personally ever camped at! We didn't need to leave our site!"
