Best Campgrounds near Farmersville, TX

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Campgrounds near Farmersville, Texas primarily consist of established sites with various amenities and hookups for both tent and RV camping. The region includes several developed options like East Fork Park Campground on Lake Lavon and Lafon's RV Park in Princeton, which provide water and electric hookups. Most campgrounds in this area feature lakefront or lake-view access, particularly around Lake Lavon, which serves as a central recreational feature. Accommodations range from basic tent sites to full-service RV parks with amenities like showers, dump stations, and picnic areas, though cabin options are limited to select locations like Lafon's RV Park and Dallas-Northeast Campground.

Road conditions and facility maintenance vary considerably across campgrounds in the Farmersville area, with some locations showing signs of aging infrastructure. "It must have been nice at some point but it's obvious budget cuts and other priorities have taken its toll. Bad roads into and thru the park, grass in bad need of cutting," noted one visitor about East Fork Park. Most campgrounds maintain seasonal operations year-round, though Lavonia on Lavon Lake typically operates from March through September. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F, making lakeside camping particularly desirable. Cell service is generally available at most developed sites, though signal strength varies by carrier and specific location. Many campgrounds require reservations, particularly during summer weekends and holidays when waterfront sites fill quickly.

Several visitors mentioned the spacing between sites as a positive aspect of camping in this region. At Lavonia, a camper noted, "Wide open spaces and beautiful lake views. The sites are far apart and lots of green space." The developed campgrounds around Lake Lavon provide boat ramps and fishing access, making them popular destinations for water recreation enthusiasts. While amenities vary significantly between locations, most provide at least basic facilities such as toilets and trash collection. Campers seeking more natural settings may find the Corps of Engineers sites preferable to the privately owned RV parks, which tend to focus on long-term residents rather than recreational camping. The proximity to Dallas makes these campgrounds convenient weekend getaways for metropolitan residents, though this can lead to crowding during peak periods.

    Lake Point RV Resort

Easy Access with Nice Club House/Laundry, etc.

This reservation was made over the phone and was booked by Lake Point RV manager through the RoverPass system. Military discount was applied to our reservation. The park(please note I use“park” as my description in lieu of“resort” for this stay) is easy to find and navigate. Upon arrival I called the number left on the door and did not get an answer or message service. Another camper had a good direct number and Michelle was on sight within 10 minutes, but there is no regular staffed hours at the clubhouse/office. It is one large area with gravel roads and mostly level. Sites are easy to park and adequate space for larger RV configurations. Our site required minimal east to west leveling. Full hook ups all worked at our site, but some utilities can be long runs depending on type of RV(especially sewer). Bath/shower/laundry facilities are very nice and clean. There is a small center playground area and a good dog run. We had Verizon 5G hotspot signal which was adequate for our stay. I believe there is park wi-fi, but no information was provided at registration and we did not request since our hotspot was very good. Highway traffic noise is pretty significant here, especially if parked at the front of the park. The park itself was quiet and everyone was friendly; however, there are a lot of full time/extended RVs at this location and it appears this park is losing some of its RV traveler appeal. Amazon and package deliveries were made to the park. We did venture into Gainesville, TX and found some good coffee and bakery at Sweet Jayne’s. We would highly recommend Tia’s Tex-Mex BBQ in Valley View.

Johnson Branch Campsites — Ray Roberts Lake State Park

    Relaxing near the city

Not far from Fort Worth, but feels miles away when you are there! Big beautiful lake you can enjoy and fish, large park and volleyball courts. My only complaint was our ‘double’ site barely fit my sisters one camper. If we weren’t tenting we probably wouldn’t have had room so wouldnt recommend that specific site for two campers. Also don’t drink alcohol outside of your camper or vehicle the rangers will get on to you for it

    Lake Ray Hubbard RV Resort

    RV Park, Not Resort

The park is average at best. Owners won’t pay for it to be well managed. Rhonda is their best asset and they take advantage of her. Park managers are severely under-qualified, rude, lazy, generally worthless. Minimal maintenance, mostly do everything you need done yourself. They provide mowing but with many restrictions. Only place I’ve ever had to deal with pests—mice, spiders, ants. Mostly long-term residents. Near lake, not lakeside, definitely a drive. They have family activities. Pool is mostly kids. Park overrun by unsupervised kids. Probably would look for different park next time.

    Eisenhower State Park Campground

Nice park overall. Clean and secure.

I’ve been here several times over the last few years (latest oct 2025). I like the hiking trails and the amazing beauty of the outdoors. The lake is pretty and probably fun to fish or boat on. I didn’t do this while I was there. There is a small onsite store. The roads are maintained and paved and the campsites are very nice sized with long parking spots for campers. Some tent sites have power and some even have large screen shelters. The park is monitored by state police throughout the day and night and that is good to keep the trouble away.

    Dallas-Northeast Campground

    Nice place to stop

Clean facilities and great staff. People were working on new features and cleaning all the time. We had lots of laundry to do, and they have plenty of modern machines. A nice pond to walk around.

    Canton I-20 RV Park

Easy to Get to, Cheap to Stay

No complaints, best park I've seen in this area.

Very well maintained, large spaces, picnic tables, nice clean pool, clean laundry room and all machines working.

    Good job.

    15 mins to Buccees :-)

    Canton I-20 RV Park

SUPER EASY ACCESS - VERY AFFORDABLE - CLOSE TO BUCCEES

Canton I-20 RV Park is a solid spot right off the interstate. The sites are large, easy to pull into, and each one has a picnic table which makes it nice to sit outside.

It’s quiet for being so close to I-20, and the park feels open and well kept.

They’ve got a pool, showers, and restrooms that are clean and maintained, plus free laundry, which is a big bonus if you’re staying long term.

Utilities are included in the rent, so the price is straightforward. It’s not a resort, but it’s a comfortable, practical place to stay whether you’re traveling through or sticking around for work in the area.

Guide to Farmersville

Campgrounds near Farmersville, Texas range from basic tent sites to full-service RV parks with most concentrated around Lake Lavon. East Fork Park Campground and Lavon Lake Lavonia provide waterfront camping with electric hookups, while several privately owned RV parks like Patriot RV Park and The Waters offer more developed facilities. Most campgrounds in the area accommodate both tent and RV campers, though cabin options are limited primarily to Dallas-Northeast Campground in Caddo Mills and Lafon's RV Park in Princeton, approximately 10-15 miles from Farmersville.

Many campgrounds in the region have seasonal operating schedules, with some like Lavon Lake Lavonia operating only from March through September. The roads to campgrounds vary significantly in quality, with some requiring navigation of rough, dusty access roads. "To get there, you travel a rough dirt road that has had some oil put on it near the few houses that are there but that stops about halfway to the site," noted one visitor about a local RV park. Weather conditions can impact camping experiences, especially during rainy periods when some lower-lying areas around Lake Lavon may experience temporary flooding. Most developed campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, though amenities like showers and dump stations vary considerably between locations.

Waterfront sites at Corps of Engineers campgrounds along Lake Lavon tend to receive positive reviews for their spacious layouts and views. A visitor to Lavon Lake Lavonia commented, "Wide open spaces and beautiful lake views. The sites are far apart and lots of green space." Most campgrounds provide basic amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and restroom facilities, though maintenance quality varies. Several reviews mention aging infrastructure at some public campgrounds, with crumbling asphalt pads and deteriorating facilities being common complaints. The more developed private RV parks typically offer better maintained facilities but may lack the natural setting and privacy of the lakeside public campgrounds. Cell coverage is generally good throughout the area, with most campgrounds reporting adequate service for those needing to stay connected.
