We had a long weekend ( 4 day/3 night) stay here. The staff was nice and helpful with finding the your site and guiding in vehicles. The staff also drove through periodically checking on things. The campground is about a 5 minute drive to downtown Gettysburg.
The campsites were all a very good size with nice fire-pits. Very well maintained. The bathroom/showers were very clean as well , and individual units for privacy. The wifi was spotty, but that is to be expected. The cable was great on the HD channels and crustal clear. AT&T cell service was pretty good. Verizon cell service was a little spotty depending on my location in the campground.
This was a great experience overall and one of the best KOA’s we have been too. We will definitely return here for future visits!
Stayed here for the first time. 3 night stay and we made use of every moment possible. We did a beach day, there is a small beach with a roped off swimming area, the bottom is concrete and slippery (there are warning signs) but made for an amazing day. Also rented a pontoon boat and kayaks and explored as much as we could. Rates on both rentals were reasonable and the staff was friendly and good to work with. The the sites were nice, there was some garbage left behind from prior campers but a nice layout. There is a ton of hiking possibilities but we did not have time to get there. Amazing stay would do this again and again…. and again.
Great place to camp. Sites all have fire ring and picnic table. Firewood readily available, $5 a bundle or 5 for $20. Would say you will go through at least 2 bundles a night depending on how long you like your fire lit. Incredibly clean bathrooms and private. Very quiet and family friendly. Great hiking around. Can hear some road noise on occasion, but not all the time.
Beach does get crowded during the day but by dusk it's quieted down.
We stayed in Campground B closer to the lake, not sure how A is.
Bald Eagle camp ground is set in the center of a beautiful state park. There are ~60+ camping sites-- some close to the road and others set back into the woods. We slept so well, hiked and relaxed on the beach. Attn LOVE BIRDS there is also a hotel/ wedding venue within this state park.
This campground helped me finally convince my fiance that not all 'campgrounds' are actually waterpark/family fun/RV parking lots, and that there are a lot of secluded, forest, nature-oriented campgrounds! We came here in mid June so it was a bit chilly at night and warm during the day - bring layers + raincoats as the PA mountain weather can be iffy! The campground can host tents, as well as RVs/campers, and includes clean bath houses with both toilets and showers. You can also buy firewood at the entrance. Sites have a picnic table + fire ring. There is little to no phone service here and it's not super close to town, so come prepared. It's a short distance to some amazing hikes, as well! The park itself has a playground and lake to swim in (though it was too cold for us to use it), as well as the historical furnace itself to explore. The campground is also about 30minutes from State College in case you crave a night on the town during your stay. As typical for campgrounds, some spots are more secluded than others. We stayed in one (forgive me, I can't remember the site #, perhaps 020?) where we were able to plop our tent into a nice tree-surrounded plot. There are also a few tent sites (18A) right next to a hidden creek in the back corner of the campground which we explored while there - these sites are very secluded and you really feel like you're away from it all. We reserved this site for later this summer and will update with pictures & info afterwards.
My in-laws have been coming here for about 8 years, this is my second year, but they have a great 4th of July celebration. Weekend bingo, food trucks, and the friendliest people from all over! The Potomac River runs right by, great for fishing, kayaking, floating, it’s absolutely beautiful here! Very dog friendly and family friendly. Nice shady sites, only downside is, electric hookups only and no public bathrooms with running water, so fill your tanks good. Other than that, we’ll be coming back for many years to come!
Great camp sites and friendly staff.
Clean modern shower and toilets. All sites in shade. Boat rentals. Camp store. Boat launch. Gravel sites. Friendly staff.
Tough cancellation policy.
