Best RV Parks & Resorts near Oberlin, OH

Several RV parks operate within 30 miles of Oberlin, Ohio, providing various hookup options and site configurations. Riverview RV Park in Vermilion offers seasonal camping from May 1st to October 15th with electric, sewer, and water hookups suitable for larger vehicles. Gotta Getaway RV Park in Bellevue features 102 sites with full hookup capabilities including 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service for big rigs. "This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull throughs are flat and easy to get into," noted one camper. Cedarlane RV Resort in Port Clinton accommodates approximately 300 RVs on level sites with full hookups, operating seasonally from May through mid-October.

Dump stations are available at most parks, though accessibility varies by location. The Vermilion Valley Ohio Turnpike RV Lot offers year-round access with electric hookups and dump station facilities as you exit. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, some parks have uneven terrain requiring leveling blocks, particularly at sites with gravel pads. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region, with Verizon coverage reported as strong at most locations. Pet policies are consistent across most parks, with designated walking areas available. During peak summer months, particularly near Lake Erie attractions, advance reservations are strongly recommended as weekend availability becomes limited, especially for premium pull-through sites with concrete pads.

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

    Mohican State Park Campground

    Winter Time But No Snow

We stayed on a full hook up site (turned off for the season) that had a nice concrete level pad. There was also a nice side pad that kept our chairs clean. A little further back in the campground to be close to the shower house that was open. Then found out that comfort station next to us was open - nice! Also close the water which was full and rushing all weekend.

The camp store was open on the weekend and the staff was nice to chat with. They had wood, but it was slab cut which doesn’t burn very well. We decided against it. Lots of snacks and other items still available.

Some sites were really close to the water, almost too close as the water flooded a few spots. The campground is nice to walk if you like to get in a little workout. They also have small camper cabins and them much bigger cabins which a few are pet friendly.

We went on a hike by the covered bridge to one of the waterfalls. Lots of trials to choose from.

    Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    East Harbor State Park Campground

    East harbor state park

Very clean. Close to everything you need close to ferry clean showers camp monitors were friendly sites are paved. 50/30 amp hookups Our site was just a standard electric site. They do have 150 full hook up sites or more. We made our reservations late we were not really concerned about water or sewer as we planned to use the camp ground facilities anyway. Fresh water is available to fill your holding tanks. Dump stations are easily acceptable as are water filling stations Big Boopers restaurant is a great place for breakfast lunch or dinner. If you do t feel like cooking it’s about a 10 min drive. Campground has very good WiFi. We have Verizon had very good reception inland and I. The islands. Bass island is a fun day trip. Sites were level left to right. Had a slight pitch front to back.

Crystal Rock Campground - Sandusky, OH

    Clean & cute

This campground was family friendly, dog friendly, and very clean. About 30 minutes from cedar point. Our only complaint and the reason we’re docking a star is because our site was right next to a giant generator that seems to run 24/7 and sites seemed a little tight. Otherwise we enjoyed this campground very much.

Guide to Oberlin

Campsites near Oberlin, Ohio occupy rolling terrain with elevations between 700-850 feet above sea level in northern Ohio's Lake Erie basin. The region has a humid continental climate with warm summers averaging 75-85°F and cold winters with substantial snowfall. Most campgrounds operate seasonally from May through October due to weather constraints, though a few rv sites near Oberlin, Ohio remain open year-round.

What to do

Fishing access: 10-15 minutes from Mohican State Park. At River Trail Crossing in Butler, campers enjoy riverfront spots with easy water access. "The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family's floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river," notes Brian E., though "Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well."

Biking trails: Direct access from campground. Several RV camping options near Oberlin connect to local trail systems. River Trail Crossing offers direct access to a paved path. "Bike trail access right from the campground," confirms Bob M., who stayed four nights at a riverfront site. The B&O trail behind the campground provides miles of paved surfaces for cycling or walking.

Lake Erie attractions: Within 20 minutes. For campers at Cedarlane RV Resort in Port Clinton, Lake Erie activities dominate the experience. "The marblehead lighthouse is also beautiful for photos," shares Ashley R., who visited during a family trip. East Harbor State Park beach is nearby, though Ashley notes its unique features: "there's a rock wall bordering the lake so you have to either climb down the low wall or walk to the designated opening in the wall."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Multiple shower houses. Cleanliness stands out as a priority at Evergreen Park RV Resort, where maintenance receives consistent praise. "Beautiful, and I mean beautiful park. It rained and rained most of our visit. No mud puddles, not even at water hook up," reports Beth G., adding "Club house and pool are immaculate, including public restrooms and showers."

Amish Country proximity: Shopping and local goods. Evergreen Park sits in the heart of Ohio's Amish region, offering cultural experiences beyond standard camping. "The campground is right in the middle of Amish Country so there's plenty of beautiful scenery, lots of shopping, wonderful roadside produce and cheese stands," explains Bob R., who visits regularly in fall.

Recreation options: Pool, mini golf, fishing. Family-oriented activities dominate at Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park. "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf," writes Kayla S. Another camper, Emily, enjoyed the fishing: "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish. It was catch and release but they were very excited to pull in some big ones."

What you should know

Winter camping availability: Limited options. Most RV parks near Oberlin close seasonally, but Evergreen Park operates year-round with heated indoor facilities. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there," notes Andrea F., adding "The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool."

Site levelness: Varies by location. Terrain at campgrounds around Oberlin requires preparation. At Fort Firelands RV Park, site quality varies. "We had the best lot in the place! We were on the end (which is always a plus for us), and were able to see Lake Erie!" shares Lisa K., though electrical connections may require adaptation: "They only had 50w outlets, but will lend you a converter for $15.00, which is refundable upon leaving."

Off-season quiet: Fewer crowds after holidays. Timing affects camping experience significantly. "We stayed at Evergreen a few days following Memorial Day weekend, so the holiday crowd was gone," notes Beth G. Similarly, Andrea found December camping peaceful with mostly empty sites.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Indoor and outdoor pools available. Many campgrounds offer water recreation beyond Lake Erie. Evergreen Park features an indoor pool for year-round use. "The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January," confirms Bob R. Cedarlane RV Resort offers multiple swimming areas: "They have an adults only pool as well for those looking for a break from all the kids," Ashley R. explains.

Kid-friendly water areas: Shallow beach access. Sandusky Milan RV Park provides family amenities including "nice pool and play area," according to Tracey S. For families heading to Lake Erie beaches, Ashley R. recommends East Harbor State Park: "once in the water it felt like walking on play doh and the water was pretty shallow definitely a great area for kids especially smaller kids."

Seasonal activities: Check for COVID restrictions. Some recreational features may have seasonal limitations. At Whispering Hills, Emily noted "The jump mat was closed due to Covid, We hope to go back when it is open!" Most family-oriented campgrounds schedule their fullest activity calendars between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Tips from RVers

Electric adapters: Bring converters for 50-amp sites. Many campgrounds offer only 50-amp service at RV sites near Oberlin, Ohio. Fort Firelands RV Park lends adapters for a refundable deposit. Verify electrical requirements before arrival or carry appropriate adapters.

Overnight parking options: Service plaza availability. For travelers passing through, the Vermilion Valley Ohio Turnpike RV Lot offers convenient overnight parking with basic amenities. "Clean with electric hookup for $20. Dump station as you exit. Gas and convenience items are extra helpful," reports Susan B. Another traveler, Gayle N., agrees: "Felt completely safe and not crowded by the campers on either side. The actual service station across the way was incredibly clean and comfortable."

Military discounts: Camp Perry option. Active military personnel qualify for discounted rates at Camp Perry Lodging and RV Park. "Great place to stay!! Everything is black topped. Sites are very long, water hydrants are boxed in with stone," explains Mathew H., noting thoughtful infrastructure design: "Sewer hook up is flush to the ground with a manhole cover over it. Won't drive over it & break it."
