      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

      Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Oberlin

Camping options near Oberlin, Ohio provide access to sites within a 40-mile radius of the college town. The region features relatively flat terrain with elevations between 700-900 feet above sea level, and summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F. Most campgrounds in this area stay open from April through October, with limited winter availability at select locations.

    What to do

Hiking and trail exploration: Findley State Park Campground offers multiple hiking trails within its 838-acre property. "Findley state park is well maintained large park! We can easily get lost on 3 mile hikes in the woods and still be on marked paths! The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating," notes reviewer Kimberly C.

Fishing and water activities: The 93-acre lake at American Wilderness Campground provides stocked fishing opportunities. "We love the fishing available here we also had the kids they enjoyed the arcade and gem mining," shares Jessica J. Most fish caught include bass, bluegill and catfish.

Swimming and beach access: Multiple campgrounds feature swimming areas with designated beaches. A camper at Willow Lake Park mentions, "There's a good-sized fishing pond and a separate swimming pond." Summer beach hours typically run from 10am to 6pm, with some locations requiring children under 12 to be accompanied by adults.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Despite being an older park, Timber Ridge Campgrounds maintains well-kept facilities. "This campground was clean and the staff was friendly. We only stayed one night but had a pretty sight by the pond," reports Stacy E. Many campgrounds in the area have upgraded their shower facilities in the past five years.

Extra-wide campsites: Campers appreciate the spacing between sites at several local campgrounds. At Timber Ridge, "Sites could handle the largest of rigs," according to The Wandering Shores. Typical site widths range from 25-35 feet, providing adequate separation between camping units.

Weekend entertainment options: Willow Lake Park Inc offers regular weekend activities. "Stay here for the holiday weekend, they offer plenty of activities for everyone. Had a band each night! Bad Juju was definitely a favorite of mine," writes ivory L. Most entertainment events run between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

    What you should know

Reservation windows: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially for summer weekends. Jeffrey L. notes about Findley State Park, "Only downfall is trying to find an open spot for reservations. Place is booked most of the time. If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance."

Cash-only policies: Some smaller campgrounds operate without card payment systems. A visitor to Timber Ridge mentions, "Hit up the ATM prior to arriving, as this park is cash / check only. It's gorgeous with super large sites."

Water quality concerns: Several campers mention water issues at certain locations. At Willow Lake Park, a reviewer warns, "I'm not sure what's up with the water, but it smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water." Consider packing drinking water when camping in this area.

    Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Cleveland/Sandusky Jellystone Park focuses heavily on child-friendly activities. "Large campground with a nice mix of seasonal and overnighters. Clean common areas. Nice pool, camp store on site with a nice selection of camp gear. Snack bar with pizza, ice cream etc. Tons of planned activities for the kids," notes Kathryn P.

Playground access: Most dog friendly campgrounds near Oberlin feature playground equipment. At Willow Lake Park, a camper states, "The playground was good for the kids. The grounds are well maintained."

Swimming options: Family campers appreciate dedicated swimming areas separated from fishing ponds. "The swimming pool is good for keeping kids occupied during hot summer days," mentions a visitor to American Wilderness Campground, where water activities remain a primary attraction.

    Tips from RVers

Overnight turnpike stops: For travelers passing through the region, Vermilion Valley Ohio Turnpike RV Lot offers convenient overnight parking with hookups. "Clean with electric hookup for $20. Dump station as you exit. Gas and convenience items are extra helpful. Safe environment to snooze overnight," shares Susan B.

Utility access considerations: Many pet-friendly campsites near Oberlin offer partial rather than full hookups. "I was disappointed we didn't get a full hook-up site, only to find out they don't have any," notes a visitor to Willow Lake Park. Prepare accordingly with proper tank management when staying multiple nights.

Reservation timing: Most campgrounds in the Oberlin area require advance booking. During summer months, weekend spots often fill 3-4 weeks ahead. For holiday weekends, booking 3-6 months in advance is recommended, especially for RV sites with electric hookups.
