    Lake Ozarks RV Resort

Clean campground, close to many attractions

This campground is clean, and is close to many attractions near the Lake of the Ozarks.

Wifi is spotty, but my site was at the back of the campground. The campsite also has a new in ground pool and dog park.

Reason I gave this campsite 3 stars is because it is clearly still under construction (6/30/23), which I was not aware of. My guess is this was the first season it was open. Half of the park still had conex boxes and construction equipment around. The dog park had little grass and was very rocky.

The owners were VERY nice and accommodating.

If I were to return next year in 2024 I have no doubt I would have given this campsite 4 or 5 stars

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

    Great Route 66 stop

The camp area looks new, cute playground, small fenced dog park type area, showers, laundry, fire pits and picnic tables. Very little trees or grass. Would love it if they played up the Route 66 theme they have going. Very convenient for our fishing trip!

    Linn Creek Koa

    Great for just popping through.

Great place for a place to stay near the lake of the ozarks attractions. Super close to big surf and not a bad drive from all the lake has to offer. But not a favorite for a trip focused more on hanging out at the camp site. Very hilly (though grade on the site wasn’t bad at all), pull through sites make getting in easy with larger rigs but all roads through are gravel and rutted so not the easiest. Sites close together without much in between. Nice large trees would offer some summer shade but still not much separation between sites. Water and electric at site. Small “dog park” (fenced in area) great for smaller dogs to run off leash and pretty large kid okay ground too. Overall we will stay here again but think of it more as bringing our own hotel to the lake rather than coming to enjoy the campground.

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

    Nice area

Good area only a mile off the highway so it made a great night stopping point. Had great access for our starlink. They have a little dog park, kids park, and it was all clean and well maintained. Easy access and some nice pull through spots. Water, sewer, and electric hook ups. Fire pit and picnic table at site. Since it’s close the highway it was a little loud with traffic. 57$ a night for premium spots, 42$ a night for non premium

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Lake of the Ozarks State Park campground Spring 2022

Lake of the Ozarks State Park campground is located in Kaiser Missouri about 5 miles down highway 134 off of highway 42. This campground is about 1.5 hour from Columbia and Springfield Missouri. It is approximately 3 hours from St.Louis and Kansas City Missouri .

Lake of the Ozarks State Park includes two different areas which are both located on Lake of the Ozarks.

The one reviewed here is located in Kaiser and includes Public Beach #1 , a marina/gas dock , horse stables/trails, hiking trails, beach, fishing dock, shore fishing and campground.

The other is located in Osage Beach about 20 minutes away and includes Public Beach #2, grand glaze marina/gas dock, shore fishing and hiking trails. No camping is available at the Osage Beach location aka PB 2 or grand glaze.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground is a wonderful place to set up camp for the weekend and is one of my all time favorites. The State Park is clean and well maintained with plenty to do for everyone.

The camp sites range from primitive to full hook up 50amp and you will see a range of camping types from tents to class A's . The sites are well spaced out despite how the reservation map appears on the State Park website. I would however suggest staying at the campsites on the outer edges as the interior sites are a bit more cramped.

This area includes bath and shower houses that are of average cleanliness for a State park (typically worn but clean). As well as 3 playgrounds for the kids. Also on site is a Beach so bring a Towel and swimming suit.

A few things to note . If you come in the winter or spring the lake will be low and your lake side campsite will be Lake view instead. You are located about 15 minutes from a grocery store however a camp store is available also bring bug spray.

Your ideal sites are lakeside 160's I stayed at #163 and it was wonderful open with not a lot of tress for the dogs to get tangled in.

This is a true gem at the lake and even though I only live 15 miles away we visit many times throughout the year.

    Turkey Creek RV Park

    Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

    Great experience overall!

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Pretty camping area, lake was filthy and smelly

This was a pretty campsite with lots of trees and simple deer trails throughout. Sites are well spread out. The lake itself was filthy and smelly. Lots of trash and rotting fish on the shorelines. The campground website said they had WiFi throughout the campsite, however it was only available at the front office. No cell service. We had planned to stay for a week to school and work remotely, but had to cut our time here short because of no connectivity. If we hadn’t had the need for WiFi, this would have been a fine campground to stay at, as it is centrally located to many sightseeing locations.

Sties were level, kid and pet friendly, quiet campground, 30/50 amp electricity, no water hookups, firewood avail for fire pits, also had nice picnic tables. Inexpensive.

    The Devils Elbow Campground

    Quiet little campground

We had whole the campground basically to ourselves, another couple came the second night. When we arrived Angie helped us get in and met up with us to check in after we got all unpacked and everything. She even went out of her way to give extra details and help us with entry. There is running (hot and cold) water as well as wood and a few other little things for sale at the entry. It was very well kept and we could hear the river while we were sleeping in our tents (which was super relaxing). This little camp ground has float across and is so close to some super awesome trails! We took a 10.5 mile hike about 15 mins away from her site! Not to mention the cute little town surrounding it. I absolutely recommend this little hidden gem. Just watch your dogs, there are some owners in the homes around the campground that let their (big) dogs wonder. We have every intention of returning again!!

Guide to Kaiser

Lake of the Ozarks offers diverse terrain for pet friendly camping near Kaiser, Missouri, with over 1,150 miles of shoreline throughout the region. The area features oak forests surrounding the lake with elevation changes creating both level camping sites and more challenging terrain with stairs to water access. Seasonal campers should note that many campgrounds near Kaiser experience high occupancy during summer months while offering quieter experiences during spring and fall.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground provides access to excellent fishing spots where campers can catch various species. As Elizabeth W. notes, there are "plenty of trails, fishing, and swimming" options directly accessible from the campground.

Wildlife observation: Multiple campgrounds offer chances to observe local wildlife in natural habitats. According to Anthony C. at Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground, "We saw about 20 deer each day" while camping at this "huge beautiful park."

Miniature golf: Cross Creek RV Park includes on-site activities beyond standard lake recreation. Keidra P. mentions that "Kids love the mini golf, shuffleboard, and basketball" among the many amenities that make this her "favorite place to stay at the lake of the ozarks."

Boat rentals: Military Park Fort Leonard Wood offers affordable watercraft options according to Jason B., who notes that "The marina has boat and jet-ski rentals (pontoons, wave runners, jet ski's, ski boats, fishing boats) that are much more reasonable then other rental places in the area."

What campers like

Private fishing spots: Cross Creek RV Park includes unique camping options with water access. Barrett C. describes their experience: "We tent camped on the island for 2 nights. It was awesome, you can fish right off the bank of your own private island within in minutes of waking up."

Convenient location: Osage Beach RV Park offers campers proximity to town amenities. Tom B. appreciated that "this campground offered so much more and was closer to town so we could walk to restaurants" when staying with their pet.

Clean facilities: Several campgrounds maintain well-kept bathrooms and common areas. Melissa H. found Osage Beach KOA had "excellent WiFi that had boosters all throughout the campground" along with "very friendly, helpful hosts and nice laundry facilities."

Off-season tranquility: David W. experienced the quieter side of Lake of the Ozarks State Park during spring: "I was just there during spring break. I was the only tent camper. Maybe 8 RVs or so out of nearly 150 campsites. It was nice and quiet."

What you should know

Site access challenges: Some campgrounds have terrain difficulties that affect site accessibility. Jenny H. warns about Lake of the Ozarks State Park: "Our site was kinda tricky to get into, especially if you have a longer trailer. Seemed like quite a few were that way, so do your research."

Water availability: Seasonal water access varies at campgrounds. David W. notes that at Lake of the Ozarks State Park during early spring, "The water was off until the end of March but luckily the pump near the registration kiosk was on. It was just a bit of a drive to get it."

Road conditions: Access roads to some campgrounds may present challenges. Sean reports that at Cross Creek RV Park, "The road to get in and out of this place is absolutely ridiculous. You can try to go 1mph to avoid potholes or washed out area."

Military restrictions: Military Park Fort Leonard Wood has specific eligibility requirements. Kate B. clarifies it's "limited to active or retired military or vets with service related disability" though offers "spectacular views" for those who qualify.

Tips for camping with families

October events: Majestic Oaks RV Park hosts seasonal activities that appeal to all ages. Hattie mentions "the events around halloween are always so fun for kids and adults alike. They truly put so much work into making it the best experience for their guests."

Duck watching: Water's Edge Campground provides wildlife viewing opportunities for children. Keidra P. describes watching "duck families swim by and come up to you on the grass" at the adjacent lake.

Playground access: Several pet-friendly campgrounds include play areas for children. David E. found that despite Osage Beach RV Park being "completely full" over Memorial Day weekend, it remained "nice and peaceful" with "spaces not too close to each other."

Island camping: For adventurous families, Cross Creek offers unique accommodations. Barrett C. appreciated that their island site "had a restroom on the island, big plus for a family with 5 little ones" despite some amenities being closed due to COVID.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Linn Creek KOA offers relatively level sites despite challenging topography. Charles A. noted "Spacious and mostly level sites, which is outstanding as this park is on face of a hill."

Winter camping options: Several campgrounds remain open year-round. Tadd B. describes Military Park Fort Leonard Wood as having "All pads are level asphalt so minimal pad shimming necessary" with quality shade for summer camping but also accessible during cooler months.

Site spacing: Campground density varies significantly throughout the region. David E. found Osage Beach RV Park appealing because "the spaces were not too close to each other and ours backed to woods" providing more privacy than some alternatives.

TV hookups: For RVers needing connections, Osage Beach KOA offers cable service. Human B. notes this as one of the "pros" along with "sites have trees for added shade" though noise from the nearby freeway is mentioned as a drawback.
