Best RV Parks & Resorts near Brook Park, MN

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Multiple RV parks operate within 30 miles of Brook Park, Minnesota, with varied levels of hookup service and amenities. Grand Casino RV Resort in Hinckley provides full hookup sites with 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections on mostly paved pads. The park operates year-round and includes a heated outdoor pool. "Back-in site was 90 degrees to the road - if the bathhouse parking lot wasn't across from it, wouldn't have been able to swing in on a 24' travel trailer," noted one reviewer about the challenging site layout. Banning RV Park and Campground in Finlayson offers seasonal camping from May through October with big-rig friendly sites, though some visitors report uneven terrain requiring additional leveling equipment. Fiddlestix RV and Golf Resort features 143 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric options, primarily catering to motorhome travelers.

Pull-through sites are limited throughout the area, with most parks requiring back-in parking. Water hookup locations can present challenges at certain facilities—one camper at Banning reported needing to purchase additional hose to reach a distant spigot. Sewer connections at Grand Casino are positioned approximately 12 inches above ground level, creating drainage issues for some RVs. Most parks maintain on-site dump stations and trash facilities. Several campgrounds implement quiet hours and strictly enforce speed limits within their grounds. Seasonal sites occupy significant portions of smaller parks like Pokegama Lake RV Park, leaving fewer spaces available for short-term stays. During summer and fall weekends, advance reservations are strongly recommended as proximity to both the Twin Cities and Duluth makes these parks popular weekend destinations.

    Pierz Park

Too many kids driving golf carts.

First the negatives. No internet, medium phone signal. The campsites are too small and too crowded. The adults let their young kids drive their cold carts and atvs back and forth from the campground to the beach all day long. I counted one particular one make 34 trips in less than 6 hours. I used to golf and I occasionally used a cart but usually I walked. Kids and young parents are way too lazy now, because it's a small campground and short walk to the beach from the farthest site. I think they do it for 2 reasons, they are bored, and they can. There is only one road in and out so there is constant traffic, and the road is gravel so prepare to eat dust. The sites aren't paved or even gravel, you park on the grass. Now for the positives. Some sites have 50 amp, most just 30 amp or less. Water hookups at most. No full hookups or dump site. There is a beach and swim area on Skunk Creek. A playground by the bathroom and showers. That building is clean, showers are free. Lots of shade from all the trees. Mosquitoes are few, flies plentiful. It is a quiet park after 10pm, but although they say closed after 8pm there was traffic all night long. Ask for a site in the back to avoid headlights shining on you all night long. Rates are $40/night for the pull through site we had w50 amp service. It has a few seasonal sites, all located at the rear. There is a golf course right next door across the creek. That is where the office is located. The town is small, only a gas station and small grocery store, so bring what you need. A Subway and nice drive-in are close by. Oh, the water is in me/my dogs opinion not for drinking. I wouldn't suggest weekends here unless you're into hearing every conversation your neighbors have or want to sleep in. Maybe the week days are better? They do allow leashed pets.

    Ham Lake Resort

Well Rounded RV Park and Campground

My partner and I scheduled a 3 day / 2 night stay in a new Vintage Cruiser RV for $39.99, in exchange for attending a presentation on private membership.

We checked in Wednesday evening, and the nicest staff I've ever met helped us acclimate to RV living. We are new to this game. They patiently described how to utilize the grey and black water tanks, as well as encouraged us to check-out the canoes, row boats, bikes, horseshoes, ladder golf and many other entertainment items - for FREE!

The map provided was accurate which made locating the cruiser a breeze. There were further instructions inside as well. The RV was immaculate. Provided for our use were all linens (a public very clean bath and shower was just across the road), dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, flat wear, plates, bowls, mugs and pans.

The campground has a couple of ponds, as well as access to Ham Lake where the watercraft is launched. There is a petting arena with goats, ponies, and a llama who gave my partner the stink eye, but fell in love with me rubbing the fence and giving me all googly eyes!

The clubhouse sells bundled wood, ice, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and provides 24-hour fresh coffee. There is also a small resupply area, and gift shop.

There are pull-through sites, back ups, 50 and 30 amp hook ups, and tent sites, covered pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits.

The campground itself seems remote, secluded and peaceful, however, you are conveniently located to two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away. It's also only about 45 minutes from the Minnesota Twin Cities.

One note: We visited in August and needed gallons of bug spray.

We very much enjoyed our get away!

    Grand Casino RV Resort

Park’s designers hav never been in an RV

The designers of this park have clearly never spent a night in an RV. This place pushes all of my buttons for things not to do when building an RV park.

Virtually every site in the park is a blind back in from the driver seat. You’re trying to back your trailer into a site on the right side without being able to see anything over there. Additionally, the site number pedestals for each site are right against the corner of the driveway where you have to back around them without being able to see them. Number pedestals for all sites are also right against the road, limiting the amount that you can swing your tow vehicle to the opposite side of the road to back into the site.  I will guarantee that not one person on the design team has ever backed, a travel trailer or fifth wheel into an RV site. The owners should have checked the credentials of the designers they hired. If they did, they were lied to. If they didn’t, then they just didn’t care about their customers.

Finally, one of my all-time favorites, all of the sewer connections are cut off about 12 inches above the ground. This means that even in a relatively tall fifth wheel, you are going to be trying to make shit filled water flow uphill. These things need to be cut off just an inch or two above the ground level  so that your sewage can flow downhill.

If you were here to spend an evening gambling at the casino, the place is roomy and well maintained. If you just want to spend the night, and not spend half of it trying to get into your site and set up, there’s got to be someplace close that would be better to go. We won’t be back.

    Ann Lake

    Rustic & Family Friendly

This is a great little rustic campground within an hour's drive of the Twin Cities! It has several potable water sources throughout the campground, but no running water for toilets or showers. There are several vault toilets. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. You can buy firewood & ice at the Sand Dunes Stop gas station, just a 10 minutes drive away.

This is a first-come, first-served campground, so no reservations required. This does mean that there is a chance you won't be able to get a site, but I've only had that happen one time when I got there at 6pm on a Saturday. There are usually sites available.

I love going to this campground - it's family friendly, and there is a swimming beach a quick 3 minute drive away! The hiking trails aren't half bad, either! I love coming here to relax for a weekend, spend some time at the beach, and just enjoy nature. If you go in the early to mid summer, you'll also hear local whip-poor-wills serenade you to sleep.

Overall, 4 stars. The only downsides are no running water and no ice & firewood at the campground itself.

    Pathfinder Village-St Croix

    Tall Tall Trees

Lots of tall evergreen trees (not sure of the specific species) here that you are nestled in. Have to know a seasonal site holder to camp here. Sites can be a little tricky backing into because of the trees, but ultimately they have enough space even for large rigs(there were three of us there: 2 5th wheels and one longer travel trailer). A picnic table and fire ring was provided at each site. Nice easy road to navigate getting into the campground. Close to Hinckley if you're looking for things to do!

    Father Hennepin State Park Campground

    Great getaway from the city

Right on Lake Mille Lacs, one of Minnesota’s largest. Walking distance from the bakery and bar! Newer, updated facilities. Boat access. Lake side sites (if you book early enough). You can hit Mille Lacs State Park if you want to knock them both out on one trip! This park seems to attract a lot of long term campers, as I’m sure it’s pretty reasonable to stay at the lake all summer. We went mid-July I think and the trees were literally raining caterpillars… it was tough to want to hang out in our tree canopy-covered site. Sooo.. we ventured outside of the park more at this one.

There was a festival going on in a town west of here that had a couple rides and a really fun patio bar. If you do decide to venture out at night, ask the bartender for the limo driver’s number; he’s the city’s “uber”!

    Banning State Park Campground

    Winter camping

This is a great place for winter camping! The campsites are large enough (despite the snow) to set up suitable winter tents, and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In the park, there's a lot of ice climbing and cross country skiing. If you take a short walk from the main parking area towards the bathroom, and follow the trail alongside the bluff, you'll find awesome spots to climb and likely a lot of dedicated adventurers. Nearby the campsite you have a great water source, and a lot of peace and quiet at night despite being close to a residential area and town.

    Moose Lake City Park

    Will come again!

We stayed in site 27 and it was perfect for our truck, 40ft fifth wheel camper, and utv trailer. Its nice that the campground allows utv/atv access. If you are double pulling with a atv/utv trailer it is very challenging to use the dump station!!

Only downfall was all the goose poop and bugs, but thats to be expected on the lake. The weekend host and his wife were very nice people!

South of Sand Dunes State Forest

Nomad crew: Two humans, one adventure-seeking pup, zero bars on the phone 🏕️👫🐶📵

🌲 Backcountry Bliss (with a side of frustration)

Venturing into Sand Dunes State Forest feels like claiming a slice of untamed wilderness just an hour from the Cities. The experience? Rustic and immersive—zero amenities (no toilets, no water, no trash cans) as per MN DNR guidelines . That means real freedom—and responsibility.

You’ll access pull-off dispersed sites along gravel roads south of Ann Lake (Co Rd 233–237). The sites are spaced for solitude, nestled between pine stands and open sandy stretches—perfect for hammock hangs or pooch romps (). One camper even notes:

“Lots of poison Ivy. Weak cell service but manageable.”

    📵 Zero Bars, Zero Interruptions

Bring a journal and some good company—your phone’s chances are slim. Recent check-ins confirm unreliable cell coverage, even for Verizon. It’s peaceful… until you need GPS or an Uber. The upside? You’ll actually unplug and be present under the pines.

    🐜 Wide-Open Wilderness & Pesky Pests

Campers speak of “quiet and serene” nights once side roads thin out . But set foot off-trail and you risk scenic encounters with poison ivy (it’s nearly unavoidable) and mosquitoes thicker than the air . Long sleeves, tick checks, and bug spray are essential.

✅ Highs, Lows & Clever Tips

👍 Pros • Free, legal dispersed camping up to 14 days in summer; 21 in cooler seasons • Privacy and space—even pull-through spots for low-profile trailers • Trails galore—horse, ski, hiking, and horseback routes all crisscross here ()

👎 Cons • Poison ivy is everywhere—avoid off-trail wandering • Minimal cell service—plan accordingly • Primitive roads; bring anything from AWD to 4×4 depending on your rig and route

💡 Camp Hacker Hacks • Drive until a decay path opens, park, then trek 100–300 ft off-road to your camp • Download the MN DNR MVUM and use GPS overlay to avoid gated roads and day-use zones • Bug up at first signs of dusk—mosquitoes and ticks love these woods ()

    📝 Final Take

If you’re chasing raw, quiet, and free dispersed camping near civilization—you’ll find gold here. It’s honest-to-goodness backcountry: phone signal is scarce, poison ivy is a fact of life, and you supply everything beyond a plot of land and forest atmosphere. But those epic silent nights, stars overhead, and pine-scented breezes? Priceless.

Score: 4.5/5—For freeing your soul, but testing your patience (and other survival basics).

Guide to Brook Park

Camping near Brook Park, Minnesota offers year-round opportunities across varied terrains with easy access to rivers, lakes, and forested areas. The region sits in the transitional zone between prairie and forest ecosystems at elevations averaging 930-1,050 feet. Most campgrounds in the area experience significant seasonal fluctuation, with temperatures ranging from summer highs in the 80s to winter lows well below freezing.

What to do

River tubing and canoeing: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River provides direct river access with equipment rentals. "Tubing! They have a bus that takes you into town float back to the campground, love it," notes Tom D., who appreciates the convenience of the shuttle service.

Winter ice fishing: Hidden Bay RV Resort transforms into an ice fishing destination during colder months. "I'm talking winter camping on the lake on the Ice in an 'Ice castle' catching walleye. Had a great time fishing in the camper (Ice Castle) well plowed roads, nice showers," shares Michael V., who caught numerous slot fish during January and February visits.

Golf access: Fiddlestix RV and Golf Resort offers integrated camping and golfing. "The seasonal guests can golf on the weekends/holidays for free as part of their package, so tee times are needed," explains MickandKarla W., noting the course was undergoing redesign but remained playable during construction.

What campers like

Pool and splash pad amenities: Country Camping Tent & RV Park receives praise for its water recreation options. "Great variety of things to do for everyone. Group sites, tent sites, covered wagon sites! Floating on the Rum River, swimming pool with splash pad, little camp store, Golf cart rentals!" shares Carol H., highlighting the range of accommodations and activities.

Quieter alternatives to state parks: Banning RV Park and Campground serves as an overflow option when nearby state parks fill up. "With easy access to both the Twin Cities metro area and Duluth, with desireable whitewater paddling and rockclimbing both available in the area, Banning State Park campground fills quickly especially in summer and on weekends, and the Banning RV Park is an excellent backup alternative," explains Janet R.

Dog-friendly facilities: Several campgrounds feature dedicated pet areas, with Banning RV Park offering an exceptional setup. "It was not just some small dog area it was top of the line dog park, we are going back again for our 2nd visit," states Matt P., while another reviewer noted the facility included "a complete dog playground with all the standards elements of a dog agility course."

What you should know

Site visibility challenges: Grand Casino RV Resort presents unique parking difficulties. "Virtually every site in the park is a blind back in from the driver seat. You're trying to back your trailer into a site on the right side without being able to see anything over there," cautions Adrian G., noting the site number pedestals are positioned in difficult-to-see corners.

Water hookup locations: Many campgrounds feature shared water hookups requiring Y-adapters and extra hose length. At Banning RV Park, one camper discovered "water hookups were shared with other sites and required 'y' connections at the spigots" and needed over 75 feet of hose to reach their site, warning others to "bring a lot of hose."

Seasonal guest concentration: Pokegama Lake RV Park reserves many sites for seasonal campers, reducing availability for short-term stays. "A good portion of the campground was occupied by seasonal campers. There were some sites that were well cared for and some that could use some TLC," observed Sam C.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Banning RV Park and Campground features multiple play areas. "Remarkably, in addition to playgrounds for children in different places around the campground, there was a huge dog walking and play area that was grassy and beautifully clean," notes Janet R., indicating separate recreation spaces for children and pets.

Activity centers: Some facilities offer organized entertainment beyond typical outdoor recreation. At Banning, the campground pavilion included "picnic tables, family bathrooms with showers, playground, activity center with craft classes etc, and laundry room," providing indoor options during inclement weather.

Affordable multi-family sites: Large tent sites accommodate group camping at reasonable prices. "We had two families with 3 tents and two vehicles, plus bought firewood (which was delivered in generous quantities) and the total price was $48," reports one camper, comparing this favorably to the cost of multiple sites at nearby state parks.

Tips from RVers

Drainage challenges: Grand Casino RV Resort features elevated sewer connections that create drainage issues. "All of the sewer connections are cut off about 12 inches above the ground. This means that even in a relatively tall fifth wheel, you are going to be trying to make shit filled water flow uphill," warns Adrian G., recommending nearby alternatives for overnight stays.

Big rig accessibility: Most parks claim big rig friendliness but have limitations. Banning RV Park offers pull-through sites that benefit less experienced drivers: "The staff was great and willing to help with any questions or concerns we as rookies had! They have pull through sites that made our first time that much easier," shares Matt P.

Leveling requirements: Expect variable site terrain requiring equipment adjustments. "Our sites were grass that was a little long and rutted from what seemed from previous tenants. This made getting leveling a little difficult and out fold out stairs touched the ground before fully being deployed," reports a visitor to Banning RV Park.
