Disappointed

When we saw the listing we were really excited to stay there: it had a canvas tent and is on Deer Isle (relatively) near Stonington. As we drove out there we realized that is was in a pretty remote part of the island, which was not what we were expecting.

The Con: When we arrived we were shocked…

Cute place, great owners, small sites

The owners of this campground are the best. Ask them about their life story! All the things you need are there - firewood, water, bathrooms and showers, and even electricity at the site. Only thing is the sites are small and close together. I was there when it was still cold and was the only person…

It’s beautiful and quiet here

Even though the sites are close together, it’s quiet. There is a small beach at the lake where you can swim and kayak (for rent). People at the office are very nice, polite and accommodating. Good cell reception.

Quiet campground, on beautiful golf course.

Rick (the owner) is very accommodating, plenty of full hookuo sites and also another section with just W/E.

Not bad for free camping!

Situated right off of Route 9 between Amherst and Wesley Maine, you can access the Machias River Corridor Public Lands. At this particular location, there are 2 RV sites, 3 tent sites and a lean-to shelter, all situated right on the bank of the river.

We spent one night here in the lean-to on…

Love it!!

LOVED this place. SUPER friendly staff. Arcade and well stocked store. Heated pool, campfires, tractor rides. Lots of permanent sites, but friendly, outgoing people!

Quick Trip

I’ll preface this by saying that we got in after dark and left by 10am so this review is limited. First, while being very nice the front desk worker was not very helpful in helping us understand the layout and our best choice for tent camping that night. She was just not very communicative. After…

Foliage paradise

The campsite has a nice pond attached, it also has apartments with bathrooms as well as small cottages with out bathrooms. It is a full service RV campsite so that is always convenient. We went at the end of September to visit Acadia National Park and the foliage was Beautiful! It wasn't even at…

Great family oriented Campground!

We booked Holden KOA for a quick weekend getaway. We booked a deluxe patio site. The site was great, flat and easy to back into. The campground was clean and other campers were very friendly and very family oriented. Lots of organized activities and great Bingo on Saturday night. We did the pancake…

Best of Thousand Trails

Friendly, very clean and quiet. Beautiful sites with mostly hardwood trees. Laundry, showers and camp store. Sites are fairly large. Nice pond for swimming or boating. Close enough to drive to Mt Desert Island. Campground is set way back off the road so you get no road noise! Visit Bar Harbor,…

Remote and private

3 secluded spots on a dead-end road. Wooded, path to the lake. Each site includes fire ring and picnic table, and share a pit toilet. Strictly carry-in, carry-out. Road into camp is dirt and some of it can be rough. Cars can make it just go slow. Atv trail access from camp - can ride to Lincoln,…
