Disappointed

When we saw the listing we were really excited to stay there: it had a canvas tent and is on Deer Isle (relatively) near Stonington. As we drove out there we realized that is was in a pretty remote part of the island, which was not what we were expecting.

The Con: When we arrived we were shocked…

Bee Aware

I don’t have many complaints about this campground. There was a slight bee problem during our stay, but that’s to be expected. Most of the bathrooms in the park were closed down except for one, which our site (29) was next to. They have running hot water showers, a large basin sink outside to wash…

Pleasant river camp and gulf hagas

Perfect campsite for day hiking! We got in late and left early but had a easy set up and plenty of space to explore. Gulf Hagas trailhead with in 10 minutes from site my site. Lots of other various campsite along rivers/lakes within the area. Bring cash for the checkpoints to enter the Katahdin…

Great fishing and camping spot

Beautiful rustic campground on the Penobscot river. Bf and I loved it, 20m from Baxter, right on the water. Would definitely go again.

Cute place, great owners, small sites

The owners of this campground are the best. Ask them about their life story! All the things you need are there - firewood, water, bathrooms and showers, and even electricity at the site. Only thing is the sites are small and close together. I was there when it was still cold and was the only person…

Fantastic of grid camping !!

Wonderful location only 18 sites. I have camped here several times and live in the area. Roads are bumpy and dusty but very passable. Though I’m not bringing my half million dollar Dutch Star here. Basic caper or tent absolutely. Sites are simple with no hookups or dump station. Don’t let my…

Beautiful off-the-grid camping

Big Eddy is about 30 minutes up an unpaved road, towards Baxter State Park. We followed the directions online and got there fine, although it may be harder in difficult weather.

The campsite has really nice bathrooms and showers ($2 per shower). The facilities are extremely clean and the staff was…

My Favorite Maine Campground

I always make an effort to stay here at least one weekend a year. Peaks-Kenney is my favorite State Park to stay at. The sites are clean and quiet, the beach is humble but nice, and the lake is beautiful. I would recommend this spot to absolutely anyone.

Super convenient, nice hosts!

Base camp to Katahdin, close in to Millinocket. Went with a diverse group of campers with hammock, tent and cabin sleeping preferences and everybody found their spot.

Pros are: clean (like super clean) showers and bath house, fire pit and picnic table at each site and cabin, super helpful,…

Awesome!

This is a great campground! It is pet friendly & they will check on your pets or even walk them! Water & electric sites are well spaced, roomy, quiet, & in the trees. It is near Mt Katahdin, Bacter State Park, & water (river/lake/pond). Owners Wendi & Marcel are kind,…

Fresh water lobsters? Don't let the name fool you!

This was the first campsite along our Maine North Woods canoe adventure – about 4 miles from the Lobster Launch. It is a gorgeous campsite along the sandy shores of Lobster Lake, with plenty of room for a group of 8-10 people.  It's called Lobster Lake because it's shaped like a lobster claw.

  • Along the beautiful shores of Lobster Lake.
  • Looking back toward the water from the opposite side of the campsite. Huge site, great for groups.

Little tight but we got it solo

We really enjoyed staying here since we were rafting with them the next day. Cheap spots right next to the river. It was also right off the high way so we heard trucks all night, but I found it pretty reasonable. The sites are all pretty together in a open field, which was okay for us since we were…

Close to Mount Katadhan

This is my 2nd time enjoying this camp. The management is very friendly and helpful in the care of my family pets, they’ll walk and occasionally keep an eye on your pets while you’re out hiking on Mount Katadhan, and will provide a shuttle to and from the mount, for an agreeable fee.
