Revitalized lake beautiful campground

We ventured south to Geode State Park near Burlington, IA. We are getting the travel trailer tweeked in. We weathered a rainy 🌧 day Saturday (all day). There was enough room that it was not uncomfortable. We started having issues with our propane heater. So what do you do when camping and it has…

Beautiful, peaceful, friendly and helpful.

Beautiful surroundings of shade trees. The cleanest restrooms and showers I have ever seen. Can’t wait to return to the new area for RV’s and 5th wheels! Full hookups AND so reasonable priced. Staff was very friendly and helpful especially after a summer cross wind storm went through and took…

What happened to the foliage?

We had hoped to spend the night here but when we got to the site it was or seemed like a flat vacant lot. There was electrical and water at each RV site but absolutely no privacy. The equestrian camp felt like there was a possibility but far from the bathroom. But many trails that start at the…

Quite ......except for the occasional trains. 🤔

It is a small camping area with the standard amenities. I like it because you can se the barge traffic on the river. I have camped here on more than several occasions.

Great campground

This campground is pretty big lots of full time campers. Camp ground is open year round. Have lots of different options if your ten camping or have an rv. They do have very nice cabins on site and a decent sized pond where the campground goes around. Mini golf is available with a pool. Had to go…

All full hookups are in the sun most of the day. So if you don’t have a canopy or awning it’ll be hot. On concrete pads. Fire rings are right behind each site with plenty of room in between. Fire wood available on site. Shower houses 8/10 nice walk down to the lake good fishing and kayaking. Lots…

Fair port camp site

Very small. The playground only had two single swings. Also there’s a train track super close to the site. With a 5:30AM train every morning. I wouldn’t recommend this site.

Awesome

Great area. Several campgrounds in the preserve, from hook ups to primitive. Sites spaced nicely, with picnic tables and fire rings. Bathroom/showers are clean.
There is so much to do here. They have several maintained trails. They rent kayaks, canoes, Jon boats, even pontoon boats so you…

Enjoyable Stay

We have visited Loud Thunder many times as hikers and kayakers but this was our first time as campers. For our maiden voyage with our new camper we decided to stay close to home and Loud Thunder was the perfect place.

Because of COVID the trails were closed so while normally there are a lot…

Nice campground/unsanitary facilities

This campground is OK. Good for families. There are over a hundred sites, some fhu, some just electric, some primitive. It's very clean and well mantained, other than the restrooms. I've been here for 3 days and have yet to see someone clean them! But at $24 for basic site with electric it is…

No frills campground...but perfect for what you need.

The staff are wonderful...they were very friendly and helpful with the questions we asked. They were just enjoying the nice warm weather! Things in the campground are a little out of date, but that is not their fault. The sites are simple...electric, picnic table, and a fire ring. Most of the sites…
