Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for developed sites with hookups during the winter season when snowbirds migrate to Florida. Most established campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, with several offering full sewer connections for extended stays. Flooding can affect riverside camping areas during heavy rain periods. One visitor noted, "The park is quiet at night even though it's close to Highway 27. Campers frequently mention wildlife viewing opportunities, particularly alligators, wading birds, and turtles. Hardee Lakes Park receives consistently positive reviews for its secluded setting and well-maintained facilities. As one camper described it: "This is reclaimed land from an old phosphate mine. The mine was closed 20 years ago and the land was reclaimed and turned into a beautified park and campground. The trees have had time to mature." Pioneer Park and Peace River campgrounds offer convenient access to local attractions while maintaining a natural setting. Most developed campgrounds in the region provide showers, restrooms, and picnic facilities, though amenities vary significantly between primitive and fully-developed sites.

    E.G. Simmons Regional Park

    EG Simmons

Pretty bare campground. Shade is LIMITED. Good water views and paddle sport area. Not a lot of trails to walk or hike. Nice little beach spot by the playground in the back. East side bathhouse is clean but needs updated.

Istokpoga Canal Boat Ramp And Campsite

    Very nice 👌

First, you need a reservation. SFWMD is where you can get a reservation. You need to have an account. It's easy. The campground itself is very clean and well maintained. It's also well manicured. Potable water, bathrooms, no showers. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring, and a stand-up grill. Some sites are fully shaded, and the others are half and half. I recommend ya'all check it out. It's free with your reservation. I say if ya'all don't like it, ya can leave.🤷‍♂️ I did that at another place, but not here. Enjoy.

    Lake Kissimmee State Park Campground

    Beautiful campground

Spent five nights at this beautiful campground. It is absolutely so peaceful. Tons of deer all over, all the time. The campground is definitely nice and pitch black at night. We walked over to the observation tower and could see the cow camp from there. We rode our bikes to the cow camp and snooped around. That was really interesting. Our site was really nice and big. All the palms around the site give it some privacy. Most of the trails are still flooded. Our rainy season just ended and we’ve had a lot of rain towards the end of it.

Laundry is $1.25 per load. Bathhouse was clean each time we used it. Park rangers were friendly each time we saw them.

    Lake Manatee State Park Campground

    Clean campground

This was our first visit. We came from Lake Kissimmmee and it’s definitely a different setting. It was quiet, the bathhouse was always clean and the camp hosts were nice. Our site was a pretty good size. Not much to walk or bike to, which is something we really enjoy. It was nice going to the lake and over to the boat ramp. Our site did not have shade.

AT&T phone worked fine, internet was pretty slow. Which is fine because we unplug while camping. No laundry on site.

    Encore Terra Ceia

Nice resort for short or long stay

It looks a bit rundown from the first sight, but the amenities and infrastructure are really up to date, everything is clean, staff is friendly. Long term residents are also seem to t be nice. Newer (more expensive) spots don’t get too much shadow yet since the trees are still too young. Generally, I would recommend. Google reviews might be a bit outdated / misleading.

    Encore Gulf View

    Alot to offer

We stayed 1 night in the 'elite' spot and not sure it it was. According to their park map it isn't. Oh well it was an in & out one night. Looks good for such but has alot of of full timers

I talked to them about the $10 difference when it doesn't say it is. They insist because it has full hook up it is 🤷🏼‍♀️. Buyer beware of the extra fee cause I'm not so sure

Many of the lots are large & somewhat secluded. Trees for some shade. *Clean, friendly, & a gate code for safety. *Nothing can be tied to trees, including hammocks.

    Buttonwood Inlet RV Resort

    Quiet evening

We stayed in Buttonwood inlet for one night. It was super easy to pull and out and it was clean and quiet to camp from a 30’ class C. Plus there was plenty of green areas for the pups to so the whole family gives this a 5 star review.

What you should know

Site assignment systems: Some campgrounds use lottery systems for premium spots. So everyone that arrived after you has the same chance to get a coveted full hook up site."

Voltage fluctuations: Some campgrounds experience electrical issues during peak usage. One camper at Peace River noted, "Watch the electricity during high usage the voltage drop, ours droped to 108v for a couple hours, i choose to run the gen during that time other then that no problems at all great faculty."
