Prospect Park features multiple ponds and an extensive network of walking paths immediately behind Applewood RV Resort that connect to virtually endless greenway trails. Despite their urban locations, these parks remain surprisingly quiet according to multiple visitors, offering a balance between city convenience and outdoor recreation. Both properties are strategically positioned for exploring Denver attractions while maintaining pet-friendly policies. Most sites accommodate multiple pets without breed restrictions, though all dogs must remain leashed in campground areas. Not bad for Colorado, I would stay here again .

Prospect rv park This park in the city of wheat ridge co. It's a nice place, close to stores, gas, and Denver. The prices are reasonable for Co. $42 plus tax. It's an alternative to chatfield state park because chatfield fills up quickly especially for the weekends. The owners are very friendly and accommodating.

    Applewood RV Resort by Rjourney

This is now Applewood RV resort

The name has changed; there was an abrupt change of ownership recently.   The web page for Prospect RV Park will get you nothing, and the phone number is disconnected.

The new contact info is Applewood RV resort, 303-872-0091, web page https://rjourney.com/locations/co/wheat-ridge/applewood-rv-resort-llc

Seems from reviews to be nice; it's annoying that "Prospect RV Park" seems to have evaporated from the planet, and it took a lot of googling to find out about the name/ownership change.  It would be nice if the phone/web page had some forwarding.  (That's why just three stars; I may change that after we've stayed there.)

    Spruce Lake RV Park

    Great location for RMNL

The selling point of this campground is location. It’s as close to Rocky Mountain National Park as you can get without actually camping on NPS property. You are completely surrounded by the mountains and the views are amazing. There’s a beautiful river flowing nearby. Easy access to Estes Park. I biked into downtown and back easily. Close to a great little market and several restaurants. Sites are very tight with no privacy unless you are along the edges of the park. Nice laundry facilities, mini golf, and a small pond. There’s a small dog park but I’d recommend taking your dog to the city’s dog park about 10 minutes away. It’s worth the drive and your dog can go swimming on a beach.

    Chatfield State Park Campground

Popular and large campground near the lake

As it is very close to the city, the temperature stays consistent with Denver temps. So in the summer, it will not be as cool as some mountain spots. That being said, it is very easy to get to and you’ll have the lake right there to cool off!

Entrance into the state park is about $7/day. There is a dog park within the state park that allows off leash and has some ponds the dogs can swim in. Entrance to the dog park is $2.

    Riverview RV Park & Campground

    Riverside Camping

We had a great time at this campground. We spent 4 days in a spot right next to the river. Close to Rocky Mountain National Park. Really enjoyed the river, dog park, live music on sat. night and laundry.

    Cherry Creek State Park Campground

A piece of nature tucked into the city.

Located in the city, but once you’re in the park you don’t feel like you’re in the city at all!!! The RV spots have full hookups and are nice and spacious, as are the neighbors. We were able to set up a tent too! Great place to stroll and relax. Beautiful sunsets. Clean bathrooms and laundry facilities with a little vending machine.

A great place for camping (RV and tent spots), fishing, wildlife/nature viewing, hiking, boating (all water activities), has a swim beach, marina, off leash dog park, shooting range, horse stables that you can do a beautiful hour horseback ride.

FEES: Campsites $41 full hookup, basic campsite $28, daily park pass is $11, annual park pass $83, daily dog park pass $3, annual dog park pass $25, and group camping is available too.

    Cherry Creek State Park Campground

    City Camping at it's Best

Great campground here at this state park. We have always stayed in the Arapahoe Group Loop for holiday weekends. Arapahoe Group Loop has a great pavillion with outdoor kitchen and bathroom. Overall Camper amenities are great and very clean. Many well shaded individual sites are available. Campsites are far from other park amenities like Dog Park, Shooting Range, Marina. Swim beach is a 10 minute walk-able distance from campground. Recommend driving to get around the park.

What to do

Hiking at Golden Gate Canyon State Park: Located 25 miles from Wheat Ridge, Golden Gate Canyon State Park offers extensive trail networks for hikers of all abilities. "This small, but clean, campground is located perfectly a walk, or bike ride, away from the town of Golden. The site parking spot could hold all 4 of our cars, but we only left 2 there since that is the limit."
