    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Camping options around Brisbane, California concentrate in urban-adjacent locations with ocean proximity. The closest designated sites include San Francisco RV Resort in Pacifica, which sits on a coastal bluff with Pacific views, and Candlestick RV Park in San Francisco. These facilities primarily serve RV campers, though some accept tents. Several developed campgrounds exist within a 30-mile radius, including Mount Tamalpais State Park's Steep Ravine Campground with rustic cabins, and Anthony Chabot Regional Park with both tent and RV sites.

Most campgrounds in this region remain open year-round due to the mild coastal climate, though seasonal factors affect the camping experience. "This is an interesting RV park on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It has a CA beach town feel, but is just 20 minutes from San Francisco," noted one visitor about San Francisco RV Resort. Campground density increases during summer months and holiday weekends, particularly at oceanfront locations. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for weekend stays between April and October. Many campgrounds have minimum stay requirements during peak periods. Urban proximity means cell coverage is generally reliable, though amenities and spacing between sites vary considerably between facilities.

The oceanfront setting represents the primary draw for campers in this region. Sites near the water typically command premium rates but offer direct coastal access and views. Several visitors highlighted the tradeoff between scenic locations and site spacing. One camper observed, "Spots are tight. Staff is great! Laundry, hot tub, pool are always clean. Right on the ocean (on a cliff)!" Campground reviews consistently mention urban convenience as a significant factor, with public transportation or rideshare services providing access to San Francisco attractions. For those seeking more natural surroundings, the campgrounds in Mount Tamalpais State Park offer a stronger wilderness experience while remaining within reasonable driving distance of Brisbane. Wildlife viewing opportunities include occasional whale sightings from coastal campgrounds.

      Mineral Springs Trailhead

Good spot, but I was waken up by a cop in a car at 2am asking me to leave.

Half Moon Bay State Beach Campground

      Beachside getaway

We stayed at Francis Beach Campground, we snagged a spot the week of since they release a few throughout the week. I’m so glad they do that for locals!

Campground is well maintained, there was an individual picking through the trash though so we made sure to lock up some stuff.

Sites are easy to get in and out of, pretty spacious. The middle sites aren’t too great, but the ones bordering the beach and the bike trail are very nice. We loved our spot, we had a trail right behind our trailer onto the beach!

Dump station is $10. Fresh water smelled a bit off, but we filled up and just used it for washing up.

      Skyline Wilderness Park

We have stayed here a few times. I have a sister that lives here and this place is only about 3 miles from us! $80 for a back in space.

      Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area

Stayed 2 nigths, it was perfect

We stayed 2 nigths, 10$ per night. The staff was very kind. The place has showers and bathrooms clean enough for being it the middle of towns. Each space has a fire ring and a table. There's a little bit of noise in the morning and afternoon because of the cars that avoid the highway and pass nearby. It's first come first served. Overall, it's a very safe and good place to camp

      San Francisco RV Resort

      Beautiful park

Beautiful part, you can see the ocean from your site. There’s a dog park close by if you want to go get down to the sandy beaches within walking distance great hookups water pressure is a little high. If you don’t have a meter I recommend getting one it was at 80 psi which an older rig was older seals. It could easily blow a seal.

Sky Campground — Point Reyes National Seashore

Quiet, cool campsite in the "Sky"

Stayed one night at site 5 over the Fourth of July weekend. Great site at the top of the hill. It's a good distance from the bathroom and water (which is really a good thing). Very private compared to some of the other sites, although it's a little more exposed to cooler breezes than some. I used Sky as the intermediary camp between Glen and Coast. The fog rolled in the morning I packed up, and my tent was soaked. Careful if you have a single wall tent :)

Rabbits, quail, and deer seen around the campsite

Half Moon Bay State Beach Campground

      Popular coastal camping

General: 52 RV/tent sites, four walk-in oceanfront tent sites, and a hiker/biker camp. 28 sites have electric hookups. No sewer (there is a dump station) and shared water spigots.

Site Quality: Sites are paved with room for an additional vehicle and are level. Some sites have decent spacing between them, but others have no privacy/separation (the internal sites with electric have less privacy). IMO, sites 48 and 16 are the best sites.

Bath/shower: Two bathhouses each with all-in-one toilet/sink combos. They could use a little TLC. Showers are standard CA state park requiring tokens to use. Did not use them.

Activities/Amenities: There are three trails for easy ocean access. Beach is long and ok for walking, but in the springtime, the beach is littered with “blue sailfish”. Dogs are not allowed. Walking north is better than south. The 7.5-mile Half Moon Bay Coastal multi-use trail is easily accessible from the campground. Little Free Library. There is a host on site who sells firewood for $15 from 4:30-9:30 pm daily.

There are not many camping options in this area, and the campground was fully booked during the week in mid-May. We had to make reservations several months in advance and could only get two nights, and we had to move sites. Four stars due to the lack of privacy between many of the sites.

      Sherman Island Regional Park

      Kite Surfers Dream

This location is perfect for people who are looking for the wind. Everyone is pretty respectful of one another. First come first serve $45/night. Not well maintained the road was flooded and it hadn’t rained in weeks in the area. Not well maintained. Must have self contained camper: van, rv, trailer. Tight quarters, it’s like a parking lot of vehicles camping right next to one another. There is a boat launch.

      Costanoa Coastal Lodge & Campground

      Outstanding coastal access and amenities!

I loved my stay here! I had a lot of tasks and couldn't have asked for a better place to accomplish them. I particularly appreciated the close coastal access, the birds and the clean, comfortable surroundings. Staff was welcoming and friendly throughout my stay. Highly recommend this gem!

    Guide to Brisbane

Brisbane, California provides access to a range of camping experiences within short driving distance of San Francisco Bay. Anthony Chabot Regional Park offers established campgrounds with tent and RV sites approximately 20 miles east, while San Francisco RV Resort in nearby Pacifica provides oceanfront RV camping. The camping landscape also includes several state parks and recreation areas like Mount Tamalpais State Park and Golden Gate National Recreation Area, providing options ranging from primitive tent sites to fully developed RV hookups and even cabin rentals at some locations.

Campground access throughout the Brisbane area varies significantly based on reservation requirements and proximity to urban areas. Most established campgrounds require advance booking, particularly during summer months when occupancy rates peak. "This RV Park is exactly what one would expect in a city environment. It is essentially a parking lot on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea," noted one camper about San Francisco RV Resort. Urban-adjacent camping often means tighter spacing between sites and higher pricing compared to more remote options. Weather remains moderate year-round with typical coastal fog and mild temperatures, though winter brings increased rainfall. Cell coverage is generally strong throughout the region due to proximity to urban infrastructure, but some state park campgrounds have limited connectivity in canyon areas.

Visitors consistently mention ocean views and city proximity as key benefits when staying at campgrounds near Brisbane. Steep Ravine Campground in Mount Tamalpais State Park receives high ratings for its scenic coastal setting, while campers note that Rob Hill Campground provides rare camping opportunities within San Francisco city limits. Several reviews highlight the trade-offs of urban camping, with many mentioning that sites are typically closer together than in more remote locations. A visitor commented that "if the purpose of your visit is to explore San Francisco this is a great spot from which to base yourself." Campground amenities vary widely, with some offering full hookups, showers, and laundry facilities while others provide only basic toilets and picnic tables. Most campgrounds in the region remain open year-round, reflecting the moderate climate conditions of the San Francisco Bay Area.
