It's more of a picnic area than campground, there are only ten sites. Large area for picnics and gatherings with campsites around two sides.
Site #1 is below the road level, but next to the long hill down to the canoe launch. This is not a direct put-in to the Wisconsin river, but into a marshy tributary. The mosquitoes are notorious. Most sites are on a short bluff over the marsh. Site #5 is the largest and nicest. #6 has a stone BBQ, but the grate is missing. #7 is possibly the most unique in the state, it has an old, restored wood burning oven. Utensils are available at the office (book ahead) and you are expected to mop it out when finished. Pizza, bread, one pot meals, whatever you can make. the remaining sites are sloped and small.
There is a CCC pre-fab style hall available for large groups, it has a fireplace at one end and is no-frills. No Elec or flush toilets anywhere.
A total of 3+ miles of trails, up to the historic, restored shot tower with an exhibit and great views of the valley.
The whole park is up against county road C, which is not heavily trafficked, but you won't be completely away from engine noise.
This is the closest camping to Taliesen and town of Spring Green. Nearby is Peck's Farm, which has produce, Cheeses, jellies etc... and a free zoo that kids will love. The pygmy goats alone are worth a visit.
A central playground and pool are the biggest draws for families with kids. There's also a prospecting 'sluice' that you can buy for the kids to look for 'fossils' and interesting rocks.
The campground is located just north of the main attractions of Wisconsin Dells.
Campsites are not overly generous in size -- typical KOA, where some are 'stacked like cordwood'. Don't go there if you want any privacy from your neighbors.
Cabins are available for those wanting to 'camp' without a camper.
Very small dog park area.
Friendly check in staff. However, we were given a map with our campsite noted and told to wait for a person driving a golf cart to escort us and help us get situated. We waited...and waited...and waited...golf carts came and went, but passed us by. We finally gave up waiting and found out site by ourselves.
We stayed here 4 th of July. We stayed in a pull thru site. The camp fire was located under a tree. We didn’t have a fire. It’s a little unusual location. I think the pull Thru are more fit for travel trailers not more 31 feet. We had 5th wheel 40 feet it felt tight to get into to. They have more spacious campsites near the lagoon for bigger rigs. This was our first time here we didn’t know that but now we do!The river felt amazing on a 95 degree day. If you have a kayak we suggest bringing it to get to the sandbar to hang out. We brought a tub and swam to the other side.If your not a strong swimmer don’t attempt if the river if running fast.I really loved our stay. My husbands only complaint was Data reception. We really didn’t get good cell service. Up the road is a spring green dog run which I really appreciated being so close that we could take our dogs in there and run them and get their energy out.
Paddle trip in early June 2023. From Prairie du Sac to Spring Green, about 21 miles? Went mid week, saw one Boy Scout troop but generally nobody else.
Campsite was beautiful with a fire pit and some left over wood from the previous group. BUT, even though you couldn’t see the road you could hear it. It’s a truck route so at 6:30am it was busy with trucks and noisy which definitely took away from the vibe of dispersed camping.
Water levels were good. Weather was beautiful.
Only camped one night. We rented the canoe and they ran the shuttle for us, which was very easy to arrange. Would do this again!
This is a RV campground, with both seasonal and weekend sites. Coin laundry and shower room with 4 showers. They have nice level site in a grassy and sandy area, with enough tree coverage for shade but not so much you’re freaking out parking your camper. Big rig friendly. Decent wi-fi and plenty of space on your site. Dog friendly. They have a big playground for kids, and activities. For us, this was a great place for us to easily set up our camper and use it as a base camp for hiking at Governor Dodge, visiting House in the Rock, and tubing on the Pine River. The staff here was super helpful and friendly, and the seasonal campers were all nice and chatty. We have camped at another RV campground in Spring Green that has a party vibe, and this was a more relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely come here again!!
Overall my family LOVED this campground. There is a decent sized pool that is clean and well-maintained with a smaller kiddie pool with a slide. There is also a man-made lake with a beach for swimming and bigger kids to enjoy the large inflatable slides and swim platforms. The campground is right on the river, and provides rentals for canoes, kayaks, and tubes. They will shuttle you as far up the river as you'd like to go, and you float or paddle back while enjoying all the sand bars along the way.
As an RV campground, the sites were level and grassy with at least one tree per lot. In the sites closer to the pool and lagoon (swim lake), they offer little privacy but are great for multi-family groups. We got a site with some woods in the back, so it was more quiet and private. The electrical and water hook ups were conveniently located, and the site was easy to get into. There were a lot of big Class A motorhomes, so the sites are plenty big. The tent sites are further away from the action, but have easy access to another bathroom and shower. They're also close to the river, and back up to a large corn field. There's a row of pine trees for easy hammock set up, and open grassy areas to let your group sprawl. The bathrooms were clean and nice, but they do have a $1 min for a shower. There is a change machine in the laundry facility.
The Resort also has an extensive camp shop and a huge restaurant with outdoor riverside seating. With live music and a full bar, this made for a really relaxing atmosphere if you're not up to campfire cooking.
We enjoyed this campground and it's friendly staff and campers. Even through there are a lot of people there so you're not isolated in the woods, it wasn't loud or obnoxious with partiers. It's Wisconsin, so everybody was drinking beers and having fun but it wasn't loud and rowdy. The best part is the location on the Wisconsin River- you can get your fill of quiet solitude on the water, or float in a tube with a case of beer if you like. We enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back! It’s a great spot to use as home base for river trips, and don’t forget the Spring Green Desert conservancy nearby. Who knew there were cactuses in Wisconsin? Total hike is about 3.2 miles round trip, with a gorgeous view of the valley.
Pond, pool, snack shop, kayak rentals, fishing pond, family bicycle course with helmets, dog park, lots of activities/themes, reasonably priced, and clean!

At Fireside Campground, Troy S. shares that activities may be limited: "Their mini golf was over ran with tree branches and was just concrete. Just needs a few fixes." However, Kim L. notes it provides "a great place for us to easily set up our camper and use it as a base camp for hiking at Governor Dodge, visiting House in the Rock, and tubing on the Pine River."
