Cliffwood Campground — Mirror Lake State Park

      Big woodsy sites

We have a big private site #138 it’s in the Cliffwood loop at the end where the circle is. We had electric, picnic table, (you have to fill your camper with water after you enter there’s many hoses) we had a fire pit and a private trail behind the campsite that leads to a view of the lake. It has been so quiet in this loop it’s hard to believe it’s opening week due to COVID.

The lake is nice and cold lots of kayaking and canoeing. You can launch at the boat ramp.

There is a swim beach, nice pet area and trails in the park to hike.

There are 3 loops for camping we like the one we’re in. Cliffwood loop Big sites near us ours 138, 137 big but soggy when it rains hard, 136 is nice it has a view of the lake. 139 is ok the back drops down a hill where you park for day use.

Sandstone ridge loop some nice big sites are 74, 75, 77.

Bluewater bay loop has no electric smaller sites we saw all tents in this loop.

Some sites are not level so come prepared.

We ate at Ishnala supper club it’s very pricy yet excellent food. The building is cool with some original parts from the old log cabin it once was. The service is great beautiful view of the lake from a window seat. Several bars and a little gift shop.

Good food in Baraboo at the little village cafe. The chocolate torte is so good. The owners are so nice.

      We would stay here again.

      Silver Springs Campsites Inc

Family Fun & Lots of Space

We came here with a group of four families. It was excellent to have tent, cabin and rv spots available as each family felt comfortable staying there. Very spacious campsites. Clean and well manicured. They have a fully stocked store, pool, kangaroo pad and lake with inflatable slides etc. Their playground is awesome and kept all 12 kids ages 1-12 busy for the whole day. We would stay there again. Showers are 25cents for 4mins. Pretty clean and updated bathroom facilities.

      Blue Mound State Park Campground

Great family spot with pool and splash pad

We visited on July 4th weekend.  This campground is very clean and both shower house and  vault toilets are as well.  Sites are well spaced and each have fire pit/grill and picnic table.  Some are electric and map  shows them as numbered  E sites.

This campground has a nice playground, hiking trails both short and longer and bike trails.  It is a bit hilly and there are several mountain bike trails.  The pool is very nice and very clean.  There  is a pool section and a splash section.   There are chairs and lounges around both and shade awnings.  The cost is $3 for and adult and $2 for child.  Near by is Blue Mounds Caves.  We did not go, but there is much on the internet about the caves and they are recommended for even young children.   Internet signal at the campgrounds was good.  We have Verizon and could stream movies.  We also have AT &T and could access the net but could not stream.   This is one of the nicer WI campgrounds I have visited.

      Wisconsin Riverside Resort

      Camping with all the amenities

We came here to enjoy some river tubing! Free shuttle takes you up river for a 3 hour float trip. We reserved one campsite for 2 couples. There was a picnic table, fire pit and electric hookup onsite. Port o potties and spigot nearby and a dumpster for trash. They have non electric camp sites along with RV sites and cabins with everything you could need including kitchen and tv. Seems like a lot of people stay there for the long haul as there are some trailer homes with heavy decoration.

The general store has everything you would need available for purchase and there's a large bar/restaurant attached. We were there the same day of a wedding reception. Free mini golf and swimming pool for campers. Bugs were a bit of an issue but thats expected. The river is clean with a shallow sandy bottom which attracts many parties and fun times. Not exactly the place for a quiet getaway.

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

      Good Resort Style Campground

Fox Hill is a good place for RV and cabin camping - they have a pool and pond, shop with ice cream and alcoholic beverages, movie nights, dog runs, and a nature trail that runs along the park perimeter. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly and mostly in working order.

Their tent sites, however, are small and crammed together, with most of them on a downhill slope that allows the water from the water faucet to run across the campsite. We had a hard time finding a level, dry area to put a two person backpacking tent on our site. The park also hosts events in the pavilion that were very loud the weekend we were there.

Overall, I'd recommend it for someone looking for more entertainment and amenities and staying in an RV or cabin, but I wouldn't stay here again in a tent.

      Skillet Creek Campground

      Family Friendly Campground

We wanted to see Devil's Lake State Park however were unable to get a campsite at the park. Called Wheeler's and they had availability. The campground was well maintained and a few minutes from Devil's Lake. Bathrooms were very clean and showers were free. Nice playground for the kids and a small fishing pond. Owners were very friendly and accommodating to our family. Large sites with fire pit and picnic table.

    Guide to Spring Green

Cabin rentals near Spring Green, Wisconsin offer year-round accommodations in a region characterized by the unique Driftless Area landscape—rolling hills and valleys untouched by glacial activity. The Wisconsin River corridor provides a backdrop for cabin stays with temperatures ranging from below freezing in winter to humid 80°F summer days. Cabins typically sit at elevations between 700-1,300 feet above sea level, contributing to distinct seasonal views.

    What to do

Hiking network: 10+ miles of trails at Blue Mound State Park Campground offer various difficulty levels with observation opportunities. "An awesome place to hike especially, but good camping too. Climb up into the firetower if you get a chance too!" shares Grace M.

Water recreation: Kayaking sandstone formations along Mirror Lake provides calm paddling experiences near cabin accommodations. "The steep cliffs and rock formations make for some great views while paddling," explains Steven U. who spent most of his time on the water.

Winter cabin stays: Heated options available at select locations providing off-season access. Blackhawk Lake Recreational Area maintains cabin facilities beyond summer months. "The campground was higher up on the hill, it took a 5 minutes to hike down to the lake with lots of steep steps," notes SmallRVLifestyle V. about the layout.

    What campers like

River tubing: Free shuttle service at Wisconsin Riverside Resort takes cabin guests upriver for approximately 3-hour float trips. "Free shuttle takes you up river for a 3 hour float trip. We reserved one campsite for 2 couples. There was a picnic table, fire pit and electric hookup onsite," reports Joe K.

Swimming options beyond lakes: Pool facilities provide alternatives to natural swimming. "Nice pool area to cool off in. Sand volleyball, ga ga ball, huge park. Has so many different accommodations to choose from!" describes Tracy C. about cabin and camping options.

Fall color opportunities: October foliage viewing transforms cabin stays with seasonal displays. "Beautiful campground with amazing views for Fall. The hike to the caves is about 3 miles with gorgeous landscapes/colors in October," shares a visitor about the scenic appeal during autumn months.

    What you should know

Cabin rental age restrictions: Adults-only options exist at select locations. "Adults only, gated community with firewood, propane and ice! They have RVs for rent also or seasonal sites available! Cedar Hills is 40yrs old, with fireworks at night on weekends," explains James about Cedar Hills Campground's demographic focus.

Highway noise considerations: Traffic audible at some cabin locations. "You could hear traffic at almost all times," notes Hannah O. about Mirror Lake's proximity to roadways.

Cash/check only policies: Some smaller cabin providers don't accept credit cards. "Camping sites reasonably priced only take cash or a check," explains g T. about payment options.

    Tips for camping with families

Shower facility variations: Quarter-operated systems at some locations require change. "They have clean bathrooms and showers. Hot showers are free, although they only have an on and off, no temperature control," advises Melissa K. about Skillet Creek Campground facilities near cabins.

Raccoon-resistant food storage: Secure containers required at many locations. "The raccoons are a bit gutsier than most, though," warns Mallory M. about wildlife encounters.

Kid-friendly water features: Swimming ponds with inflatable platforms available at family-oriented properties. "There is a decent sized pool that is clean and well-maintained with a smaller kiddie pool with a slide. There is also a man-made lake with a beach for swimming and bigger kids to enjoy the large inflatable slides and swim platforms," describes a visitor about recreation options.

    Tips from RVers

Cabin alternatives: RV site upgrades provide more privacy than standard cabin rows. "We stayed in a pull thru site. The camp fire was located under a tree. We didn't have a fire. It's a little unusual location. I think the pull Thru are more fit for travel trailers not more 31 feet," recommends Juliana R. about Wisconsin Riverside Resort configurations.

Internet connectivity varies: Cell service limitations affect remote work possibilities from cabins. "My husband's only complaint was Data reception. We really didn't get good cell service," notes a camper about connectivity challenges in the area.

Multi-family rental strategies: Look for connected sites that share common areas between cabins. "Some loops have group sites where you book 2 sites that are connected. Great for 2 families that want to share common space for kids," explains Karen A. about optimizing layouts for group stays.
