    Lantern DeForest

    Cute campground - near Madison

We were in Site# B1. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-thru. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site. My jeep though did not fit. The site was easy to level.

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a larger sized lot with our neighbors not too close (but we did choose a premium site with a patio and paid extra to be on the end).

This specific lot comes with a concrete patio The lot comes with a picnic table and fire hole in the ground.

They have a community Outdoor kitchen-y area with picnic tables.
They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool.
There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes and a volleyball court.

They have a great general store.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes but there are great places to ride bikes outside of campground, especially around Middleton and Madison.

They have cabins for rent and tent areas.

They have one shower house. The shower house has the typical stalls. These are kept mostly clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine.

They have a fenced in dog park and many grassy areas to walk dogs.

There were no trails to hike in the campground.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are the Saturday Farmer’s Market in Madison and multitude of bike trails.

    Christmas Mountain Village Campground

Christmas in Summer but I think I will skip the WInter.

This is a member resort but they do allow the public in.  We went in as Coast to Coast members.  This is an all season resort it does have a ski hill and accommodations for winter.  You can buy a condo resort, Lease a Time Share, buy a camping site ( with a Park Model on it,  Camp in a Motor Home, Trailer or Tent.  You can camp with full hook ups or as they call it the Wilderness Camping, they have some with 110 hook ups.

Facilities are very nice and clean, Swimming Pool, Club House with a lot of things to do. The sites are nice and big most are either pull through or large back in sites.  They also have an 18 holes golf course, since we don't golf really don't know how it is.

They have some WIFi but it is best at the club house the hotspots worked better.

If you would like to  visit Wisconsin Dells this is a great place as it is not very far from downtown and all the activities.  We spent 2 days exploring the Dells even in rain.  Had a great time.

If you are in the area I would check it out.

    Fairgrounds RV Park

    Dodge County Fairgrounds RV Park

I camped here for a month in July and now a week in Sept. Nicest people ever.
20/30/50 amp service Most sites have water hook-up Restrooms Dump station Campfires in above ground fire pits supplied by you Pet friendly I like some privacy and the opportunity to let's my dogs play freely at my campsite when I can. The site I'm at has plenty of space for them to run around my site without disturbing other campers. They have a camp host on site who is very helpful. They also have events, usually on the weekend that you can visit or participate. While I've been here they've had a circus, a carnival, a flea market, and something similar to a farmer's market. Where I've chosen to camp, I am out of the way and can enjoy the event and come back to my campsite and continue my camping without being disturbed by the event.

    Pilgrims Campground

Hillside Tent Camping & RV Bliss

Conveniently located next to absolutely nothing just due northwest of Fort Atkinson, you’ll love Pilgrim’s Campground for its successful delivery of (capital letters) P&Q! What I love most about this location is how they keep all the RV campers penned in up against the slight diagonal embankment, which actually provides some pretty phenomenal views of the surrounding areas (if not your next door neighbors) as well as excellent drainage and subsequently separated from the primitive TV campsites. These latter sites are placed just due southwest of the grounds and are pitched perfectly in a tree-lined meadow, encircled by freshly cut corn fields, where you’ll find no shortage of amazing animals coming to graze throughout the day (and night) from deer, raccoons, opossums and endless tag teams of squirrels.

Because there isn’t so much around, be prepared to bring everything with you (save ice and wood, which is sold on-site). While the bathroom / shower facilities are just passable, what you are giving up in terms of creature comforts is more than made up for in the sheer proximity to all of nature. During the warm summer months, there’s a small in-ground pool on-site, which sits right in front of the main office. All of the standard camping surround-sound elements are here from fire rings and picnic tables to water, electrical (50 / 30 / 20 / 15 amp) and sewer hook-ups. In all, there’s about 100 sites here at Pilgrims Campground, with the lion’s share of this pet-friendly property dedicated to overnight and seasonal RV / 5th Wheelers offering both back-in and pull-through sites.

Insider’s Tips? Here’s a few: (1) If you don’t mind some rough hiking, there’s fantastic ‘spazierengehen’ to be had just wandering around the countryside in the bountiful corn and bean fields or head over to nearby Dorothy Carnes County Park for some decent trails to explore; (2) In the event that you don’t like being awaken too early from all of the nearby roosters, then bring some ear plugs; (3) When you grow tired of having to forage through either your on-board RV mini-fridge or bear-proof Cordova roto-molded cooler, then look no further than ‘What’s the Point’ (no, seriously, that's the name of the restaurant!) for traditional Midwestern comfort food like corned beef & cabbage, fried fish, BBQ ribs and prime rib; (4) Should you come bearing watercraft and looking for a decent spot to dip your kayak or canoe at, then check out Rose Lake State Natural Area, which BTW is quite small, but very convenient, or try out much larger Red Cedar Lake or Lake Ripley; and (5) Cell coverage and WiFi is pretty horrific in these parts, so bring a booster or plan to leave civilization behind you.

    Happy Camping!

    Pilgrims Campground

    Great rates and large sites

Found this great little campground when I was in a pinch to find a place to put my 45ft fifth wheel. Super friendly staff, rates are reasonable and it is big rig friendly.

    Waupun Park Campground

Waupun County Park WI - Campground

Family friendly campground, playgrounds, pickle ball court, showers, clean bathrooms, fire rings, shared water spigots & power at camp site. There is an outdoor pavilion for groups, firewood for sale at host. Lamp posts light camp road but not overwhelming. Nice shaded sites with mature white oak trees. Enjoyed and recommend if looking for full service campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Farms

    Convenient to the highway

General: There is both a north and a south part to this campground with a total of 178 sites. The sites in the south part are all on a grassy field and there is a small man-made lake with an inflatable play area. The sites in the north part are a mix of full hook-up and tent sites. There are also small cabins (only one of which has a bathroom) and three “condos”. These all had air-conditioners, but I did not see the inside of them. The north unit features a pond, which I was disappointed to discover was algae-filled and completely green.

Site Quality: Some are pull-through and some back-in. Some sites have electric and water hookups, some have picnic tables, and some have fire rings (but not all sites have all of these amenities). Only a handful have concrete pads; the rest are all on grass.

Our impression of Sleepy Hollow was influenced in part by the fact that it poured rain for much of our overnight stay. The roads were all dirt and with the rain, became very muddy along with the campsites as well. When leaving the next day, we had some challenges backing out of our site with the amount of mud. There is no clear delineation between the sites other than where the electric and water hookups are placed.

Bathhouse: Was very clean (in both the north and south units of the campground). Showers are available for a fee (five minutes for$1.00) but we did not use them so cannot comment on how well they worked.

Activities/Amenities: In the south unit, there is a small manmade lake with an inflatable play structure and plenty of life jackets. The color is a beautiful Caribbean blue, but it did not look natural, and I was not sure of the source of the color. We were there on a weekday in September, and no one was using the lake. There is a small bar and grill (in the north section) and a concession (south unit) on-site, but both were closed when we were there. Firewood was available (15 pieces for $10); we asked and were granted permission to use the golf cart to bring the wood to our site. Other than the lake, there really is nothing offered for recreation.

We chose this campground for its location; it is very close to Highway 41 in Oshkosh (you will hear road noise) and we were meeting family there. We checked in online the day before and arrived at 3:30 pm. No one was in the office when we arrived but the family members we were meeting had arranged for us to camp in the site next to them (not the original one we had selected). This campground is VERY close to EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), and I imagine it would be completely full during the annual EAA convention. For us, it was a convenient location but aside from spending time with our family, the reason we chose this campground.

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

Good mix of rv and nature

We visited for opening weekend during COVID-19, so the park was quiet but open. The staff and owners here were very friendly and extremely helpful when we ran into some snags with setting up camp. We were able to check in online and drive right to our campsite, to get our enjoyment started right away. Our spot, F-2, was right across from the playground and great for my kiddo. Only neighbors to the sides and woods behind. This park has some nature trails, disc golf, and a good size dog run. It’s well kept and maintained. All site are pretty level with gravel pad and logically positioned utilities. The tent loop is more remote, but not a far walk from the park and pool. Pool wasn’t open yet this early in season. We enjoyed our peaceful stay and even booked for Memorial Day weekend as other campgrounds are closed and cancelling reservations. We are happy to have our social distanced camping experience and we’re very happy with Fox Hill. Can’t wait to come back when summer is in full swing! Compared to other campgrounds in the Dells, the price is reasonable for full hookups. It’s also really close to Devils Lake and Mirror State Park, so a perfect spot to have excellent hiking opportunities nearby and be able to quickly access all the yahoo craziness of the Dells area if you need an Olde Time Photo or a water skiing show. If you golf, there’s a 9 hole course next door that is easy to walk to.

Guide to Pardeeville

Campgrounds near Pardeeville, Wisconsin offer diverse overnight options within driving distance of popular attractions. The area sits on glacial terrain with numerous lakes and marshlands, with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F. Most campgrounds in this region experience peak occupancy during summer weekends and maintain quiet hours from 10pm to 8am.

What to do

Outdoor recreation opportunities: At Fox Hill RV Park & Campground, families can enjoy both on-site and nearby activities. "Nice campground with spacious sites. The B sites are shaded and seem larger than the rest. We stayed at site B6, which as far as I could tell is the largest site at fox hill," notes one visitor. The campground offers disc golf and nature trails on property while being conveniently located near Devil's Lake State Park for hiking.

Water activities: Most campgrounds provide swimming options during summer months. "The kids loved the blow ups in the pond. The pool was nice, but a bit colder than the pond. It's heated with a solar cover," according to a visitor at Fox Hill. Swimming ponds with water features are common at family-oriented campgrounds in the region.

Seasonal festivities: Campgrounds host planned activities most weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day. At Yukon Trails Camping Resort, visitors find "plenty of activities like a DJ, breakfast, and lunch and donuts! Rentals for golf carts are available and a store on site. Arcade for the kids." Fall weekends feature harvest-themed events at most locations.

What campers like

Proximity to attractions: Ho-Chunk RV Resort & Campground provides a convenient base for exploring. "We stayed here for 1 week and enjoyed the fall colors. The showers were clean and nice. Laundry was less expensive than most laundromats we've used this year," reports one visitor. The location allows for easy day trips to Wisconsin Dells attractions while maintaining a more natural setting.

Site spacing: Unlike some crowded campgrounds, certain areas offer more privacy. "We were impressed by this little gem not too far from the Wisconsin Dells. At has amenities similar to the larger resort campgrounds but keeps a charming in the woods campground feel," writes a Yukon Trails guest. Sites in older campground sections typically provide more shade and separation between units.

Delivery services: Several campgrounds offer direct-to-site conveniences. According to a visitor at Nature's Touch Campground, "LOTS of puddles when it rained so maybe better drainage?" Despite this issue, many reviewers appreciate the firewood delivery service available at multiple rv campgrounds near Pardeeville, Wisconsin. This service saves campers from having to transport wood themselves.

What you should know

Seasonal variations: Campground experience changes significantly throughout the operating season. "We went to the Dells for a wedding. The campground offered a variety of activities for kids which was something that would draw us back to the campground again," notes a Fox Hill visitor who adds, "WiFi is spotty and Verizon cell service isn't 'good' as stated." Early spring camping often means fewer amenities but more available sites.

Site selection considerations: When booking at rv campgrounds near Pardeeville, pay attention to site specifications. At River Bend RV Resort, "This place is a kids heaven! Hahaha. Not exactly the place to go and enjoy peace and solitude. There's little to no seclusion and most here like it that way." Different camping loops often have distinct characteristics even within the same property.

Utility placement: Many campgrounds have unusual electrical and water connection setups. A Fox Hill camper warns, "Make sure you bring 50 ft of electrical cord and water hose. They do offer to barrow their extension cords." Bringing extra-length hoses and cords prevents arrival difficulties at most Pardeeville area campgrounds.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Campgrounds with dedicated children's areas are common. "Great campground for families with kids and teens. Tons of activities all around the campground. There were outdoor movies, put-put, corn hole, two pools, huge trampoline, volleyball nets, disc golf, and a Christmas in July festival all happening when we were there," describes a visitor at Lake of the Woods Campground.

Noise considerations: Some properties have nearby attractions that create noise. "There is a dirt track with racing just adjacent to the campground, so our poor guy was pretty nervous the whole time. The race ended at 11 and we had no problem sleeping, but it is something to keep in mind," advises a Fox Hill visitor about pets. Weekend activities can run until 10pm at most campgrounds.

Group camping options: Several campgrounds accommodate family gatherings. At Lake of the Woods, "The group campsite is phenomenal... tons of space for each family and a great community area for your group." Group sites typically require booking 6-12 months in advance for summer weekends.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Some campgrounds have challenging terrain. According to a visitor at Fox Hill, "Our site was very unlevel side to side. It took two 2x6 and a 1x6 under the camp side to be level. That made the first step into the coach, and last step out of the coach extremely high off the ground." Bringing extra leveling blocks is advisable for most Pardeeville area rv parks.

Site surface variations: Different campgrounds offer varying pad compositions. At Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park, a guest reports, "Campsites are small. If you are looking for FHU sites are level enough. But, if you are needing just water and electric you should look elsewhere. Sites are very unlevel." Most rv parks use gravel for pull-through sites rather than concrete pads.

Water quality issues: Some campgrounds have problematic water that requires filtering. A Ho-Chunk visitor cautions, "Make sure to use a water filter outside your camper. The water left an orange residue in our dog bowls, sinks and pipes." This high iron content is common in well water systems throughout the Pardeeville camping region.
