Best RV Parks & Resorts near Luck, WI

Several RV parks near Luck, Wisconsin provide full-hookup options for motorhome travelers. Country Quiet RV Park and Campground in Cumberland offers water, sewer, and electric hookups with 30/50-amp service on spacious sites that accommodate big rigs. "The designers of this park have clearly never spent a night in an RV. Virtually every site is a blind back in from the driver seat," noted one camper about Grand Casino RV Resort, highlighting the importance of checking site layout before arrival. North Park RV Campground in Amery features electric, water, and sewer connections with boat access to nearby lakes, while St. Croix Casino RV Park in Turtle Lake provides seasonal camping from May through October with electric and water hookups.

Most RV parks in the region require reservations during peak summer months, with availability becoming limited on weekends. Northern Detour RV Site on Poplar Lake maintains 15 sites with electric hookups but lacks water connections at individual sites. Cell service varies throughout the area, with better coverage near larger towns like Cumberland and Amery. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Wolf's Den RV Campground Resort lacks shower facilities despite offering full hookups. Winter camping options are limited, with most parks closing between October and May. A review mentioned that "sites can be a little tricky backing into because of the trees, but ultimately they have enough space even for large rigs" - important information for those traveling with fifth wheels or longer travel trailers.

    Ham Lake Resort

Well Rounded RV Park and Campground

My partner and I scheduled a 3 day / 2 night stay in a new Vintage Cruiser RV for $39.99, in exchange for attending a presentation on private membership.

We checked in Wednesday evening, and the nicest staff I've ever met helped us acclimate to RV living. We are new to this game. They patiently described how to utilize the grey and black water tanks, as well as encouraged us to check-out the canoes, row boats, bikes, horseshoes, ladder golf and many other entertainment items - for FREE!

The map provided was accurate which made locating the cruiser a breeze. There were further instructions inside as well. The RV was immaculate. Provided for our use were all linens (a public very clean bath and shower was just across the road), dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, flat wear, plates, bowls, mugs and pans.

The campground has a couple of ponds, as well as access to Ham Lake where the watercraft is launched. There is a petting arena with goats, ponies, and a llama who gave my partner the stink eye, but fell in love with me rubbing the fence and giving me all googly eyes!

The clubhouse sells bundled wood, ice, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and provides 24-hour fresh coffee. There is also a small resupply area, and gift shop.

There are pull-through sites, back ups, 50 and 30 amp hook ups, and tent sites, covered pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits.

The campground itself seems remote, secluded and peaceful, however, you are conveniently located to two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away. It's also only about 45 minutes from the Minnesota Twin Cities.

One note: We visited in August and needed gallons of bug spray.

We very much enjoyed our get away!

    Grand Casino RV Resort

Park’s designers hav never been in an RV

The designers of this park have clearly never spent a night in an RV. This place pushes all of my buttons for things not to do when building an RV park.

Virtually every site in the park is a blind back in from the driver seat. You’re trying to back your trailer into a site on the right side without being able to see anything over there. Additionally, the site number pedestals for each site are right against the corner of the driveway where you have to back around them without being able to see them. Number pedestals for all sites are also right against the road, limiting the amount that you can swing your tow vehicle to the opposite side of the road to back into the site.  I will guarantee that not one person on the design team has ever backed, a travel trailer or fifth wheel into an RV site. The owners should have checked the credentials of the designers they hired. If they did, they were lied to. If they didn’t, then they just didn’t care about their customers.

Finally, one of my all-time favorites, all of the sewer connections are cut off about 12 inches above the ground. This means that even in a relatively tall fifth wheel, you are going to be trying to make shit filled water flow uphill. These things need to be cut off just an inch or two above the ground level  so that your sewage can flow downhill.

If you were here to spend an evening gambling at the casino, the place is roomy and well maintained. If you just want to spend the night, and not spend half of it trying to get into your site and set up, there’s got to be someplace close that would be better to go. We won’t be back.

    Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

    Great for the kiddos

For a County Park, Lake Elmo has an impressive list of amenities. Before we even get to the campsite let's mention the filtered swimming pond. This man made pond is a sandy bottom and surrounded by a nice sand beach. Large built in umbrellas are available for sun coverage and there is a concession stand and bathrooms with showers. And yes, as I mentioned the water is filtered! No gross goose poop or green algae to deal with! Next to the swim pond is a giant playground with fun for the big and little kids. Other amenities include archery, horse trails, paved and grass trails, camper spots, rustic spots and hike in camping spots. In winter the xc ski trails are lit for evening skiing. Or let's be honest early afternoon. It is Minnesota and the suns down by 4 In the Winter! They also have a newer Nordic center that's open all year round and includes a locker room with showers. The hike in camp spot we chose was on a small lake so it had a nice breeze and made it easy to bring a kayak or paddleboard and hop right in. There is also a boat launch for your larger toys! The trails in the park are quite impressive for its size. We enjoyed a 5 mile loop off the Nordic center and right past the camp spot. A picnic table and fire pit as well as nice flat tent pad were provided. If you're coming in from out of town then you're just a 5 minute drive from Woodbury and all the amenities you'd ever need but the park feels miles away from it all.

    Pathfinder Village-St Croix

    Tall Tall Trees

Lots of tall evergreen trees (not sure of the specific species) here that you are nestled in. Have to know a seasonal site holder to camp here. Sites can be a little tricky backing into because of the trees, but ultimately they have enough space even for large rigs(there were three of us there: 2 5th wheels and one longer travel trailer). A picnic table and fire ring was provided at each site. Nice easy road to navigate getting into the campground. Close to Hinckley if you're looking for things to do!

    Banning State Park Campground

    Winter camping

This is a great place for winter camping! The campsites are large enough (despite the snow) to set up suitable winter tents, and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In the park, there's a lot of ice climbing and cross country skiing. If you take a short walk from the main parking area towards the bathroom, and follow the trail alongside the bluff, you'll find awesome spots to climb and likely a lot of dedicated adventurers. Nearby the campsite you have a great water source, and a lot of peace and quiet at night despite being close to a residential area and town.

    Grand Casino RV Resort

    Rocking RockTember Music Festival

We booked our stay at the RV Resort so we wouldn't have to drive two and a half hours back and forth during the two day Grand RockTember Music Festival. *Please note when there's an event, book early!! This RV Resort has 271 RV/Camping full hook up sites that include a picnic table and fire pit. The sites are very close together with little to no privacy, but it did a fine job as we were there for the concert. Guest Services were super friendly when we checked in, and they give you a pass card to enter & exit the Resort. There is 24 hour security, and shuttle bus service to the casino, although we enjoyed the 1/2 mile walk to the amphitheater. All the sites are back in only, and are a tight squeeze for bigger rigs. They enforced the quite hours well, and we got a good nights sleep. There's a heated outdoor pool, and small convince store in the guest services building. They have a pet walking area, and kennels if you want to spend time at the casino. The bathhouse offered private toilet stalls and showers, and we squeaky clean!!! If you like to golf, don't miss the 18 hole Grand National Golf Course next door. We enjoyed our stay, and will be back again.

Guide to Luck

Campgrounds near Luck, Wisconsin feature wooded sites that accommodate a range of camping styles from rustic tent camping to full-service RV sites. The area sits at approximately 1,200 feet elevation with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F during peak camping season. Local lakes and rivers create excellent water recreation opportunities with sandy beaches at several locations.

What to do

Tubing and river recreation: Country Camping Tent & RV Park offers popular tubing experiences on the Rum River. "This campground is great for everyone! Close to the Twin Cities, right on the Rum River. Great tent sites right on the river. Tubing! They have a bus that takes you into town float back to the campground, love it," shares one camper. The river has a clean, sandy bottom making it ideal for water activities.

Dog agility course: Banning RV Park and Campground features a standout dog park with specialized equipment. A visitor noted, "Remarkably, in addition to playgrounds for children in different places around the campground, there was a huge dog walking and play area that was grassy and beautifully clean—and, of special interest, included a complete dog playground with all the standards elements of a dog agility course!"

Frisbee golf and recreation: North Park RV Campground in Amery offers diverse activities within the city park setting. "Easy in & out. Just far enough off road to be fairly quiet. In city park. Tennis. Frisbee golf. Skateboard park. BB hoops. Toilets. Showers. Boat launch. Swimming. Easy walk to downtown," reports one camper. The campground's proximity to town amenities makes it convenient for supplies.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Country Quiet RV Park and Campground receives praise for its well-designed layout. One visitor commented, "This is a very nice RV Park. There's plenty of sites and they appear to be expanding. Sites are fairly spread out. Easy loop system makes this campground very easy to navigate through." This spacing provides more privacy than many RV parks in the region.

Pool and splash pad: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River features water amenities beyond just river access. "The campground is nice and clean. Good size spaces. The tubing is a plus. Had one issue with power dropping so we had to pull the surge protector off then it was fine. Also very hot and humid so everyone was running AC to the max. Pool was small but nice. Splash pad was even nice for adults," notes a visitor.

Accessibility to attractions: Wildwood RV Park & Campground serves as a good base for exploring regional attractions. "We love this RV Park & Campground because of the location with having so much to do on and off-site. All the staff is very nice and it is a family-oriented park which we love," reports one camper. Another advises, "Be sure to check out Franconia sculpture garden if you're staying here and have the time! It's such a fun and quirky place."

What you should know

Site layout challenges: Some rv sites near Luck, Wisconsin have challenging layouts. At Grand Casino RV Resort, one camper noted, "Back-in site was 90 degrees to the road - if the bathhouse parking lot wasn't across from it, wouldn't have been able to swing in on a 24' travel trailer." Site positioning can significantly impact ease of setup.

Water hookup variations: Shared water connections are common at some parks. At Banning RV Park, a camper found, "We were quick to learn that water hookups were shared with other sites and required 'y' connections at the spigots. Our water source ended up being 75' plus from our RV." Bringing extra-long hoses is recommended for camping in this area.

Varying internet connectivity: Cell service and WiFi quality differs dramatically between campgrounds. "Sadly I needed 4 hours of internet and my cellular data here was spotty. I spent this time right outside the office," reported a camper at Wildwood RV Park & Campground. Most rv parks around Luck offer WiFi near main buildings only.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Wolf's Den RV Campground Resort & Tavern provides lakeside recreation that appeals to families. "This campground isn't really a campground, it is more like a summer community. A majority of sites are taken up with permanent RV set ups, and some are super huge and elaborate. Very very busy though. Beautiful lake right by, would definitely be a huge draw," notes one visitor.

Paddle sports for all ages: Wildwood RV Park makes water activities accessible for children. "The kayaking/canoeing was an amazing adventure that everyone should try. It was even great for kids 3 and 6," shares a camper. Many parks in the region offer equipment rentals with shuttle service.

Indoor options for rainy days: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River includes indoor activities. "This campground is great for everyone! It has a heated pool, splash pad area, BIG playground area, indoor game room, HUGE sites!" a visitor reported. These alternatives help during Wisconsin's unpredictable weather patterns.

Tips from RVers

Arrival timing: Several RV parks near Luck become difficult to navigate after dark. One camper at Banning RV Park advised, "We would stay here again for a quick get away from the Twin Cities but would want to arrive before it gets dark and bring a lot of hose." Arriving during daylight hours makes finding hookups and setting up considerably easier.

Leveling challenges: RV sites at some campgrounds require extra attention to leveling. "Our sites were grass that was a little long and rutted from what seemed from previous tenants. This made getting leveling a little difficult and our fold out stairs touched the ground before fully being deployed," noted a visitor at Banning RV Park. Bringing additional leveling blocks is recommended.

Electric load considerations: During peak summer temperatures, electrical systems can be strained. At Country Camping on the Rum River, a camper experienced issues: "Had one issue with power dropping so we had to pull the surge protector off then it was fine. Also very hot and humid so everyone was running AC to the max." RV surge protectors are advised for camping in this region during summer months.
