Capitol Reef RV Park and Glamping

      Brand new March 2025

Everything is new. They still building the office / common room. The private bathrooms and showers are great. Everything is spotless clean. Laundry room only has 2 washers & 2 dryers. Fine now as this RV park is pretty empty. It also has several A-frame little cabins. Maybe a little dusty as they are finishing up all the gravel work. Hookups are good. Pads are level. Every spot has a picnic table & fire pit. Dog park kind of small. All dirt. Lots of areas to walk dogs. Verizon has 3 bars. WiFi is great, but not many campers here.

A couple miles to town. Off the highway. Very quiet. Very dark at night so really nice for stargazing.

And the mountain views are beautiful on 2 sides!

We definitely will stay again if we in the area.

      Canyons of Escalante RV Park

      Great stopover for regrouping

We been dispersed camping with a camper van for a week and this RV park was everything we needed: laundry, showers, recharge devices with power along with the dump, all within a few steps. Each site has a dividing fence with plenty of room in between. The owners know how bad RV parks could be. Never seen cleaner facilities with a spacious laundry room, showers, etc. They even have a dog park. Their communication with you is above par, everything is explained before you arrived via text. And if you are overdue on your stated arrival time, they send you a text with after hours check-in info.

      Sevier River RV Park

      Peaceful river setting

Lovely rustic rv park in a peaceful setting along the Sevier River. The owners have worked hard to make this property nice with many amenities including clean bathrooms, clean showers, communal covered picnic area, dog park, pickleball/basketball area and cabins. I really like the views and how peaceful it is compared to some big RV parks. It wasn’t too crowded when we were here on May 19, but think the area must be popular because of all the ATV trails nearby. We rode right from the RV park to take our e-bikes on a paved bike trail through the Sevier Canyon. Super fun! Owners and staff very friendly.

      Dispersed Campground - Goblin Valley

Awesome spot with lots to explore!

We loved this site! There are a lot of little canyon trails to explore for all ages! Super close to both Goblin Valley and Little Wildhorse Canyon! Highly recommend the Little Wild Horse Canyon / Bell Canyon hike. Bring lots of water and make sure your pets stay hydrated as well! Went over Memorial Day weekend 2021 and it was not as busy as I expected it to be!

Thousand Lakes RV Park and Campground

      Great Views & Super Friendly

Very tidy RV park with various accommodations including dry sites (which we used), tent sites, cabins, and regular RV sites. Saw every size rig. Bathrooms at far end of park are larger and newer. Clean showers. Small pool and on-site BBQ Restaurant. Jeep rentals, pet areas, playground and cool gift shop. Awesome unobstructed views from sites on outer perimeter. We were in D2. Only drawback is you're pretty close to your neighbors. All sites have picnic benches. Large grass area near pool and restaurant.

      Birch Creek Campground

      2 Group Picnic Sites

Camped here 1 night. The 4.5 mile road off the highway is very good though dusty. Creek is lovely. Sites vary in their condition but flat tent or van spots are uncommon. ORV traffic and locals passing by about every hour. WeBoost 3 Verizon bars. My retriever who is used to bears refused to go out in the dark, probably Mt Lions about so watch small pets closely.

      Sunglow Campground

      Pleasantly surprised

We happened upon this campground and luckily there was one spot left - site 1. We caught a beautiful sunset against the red cliffs as we set up camp. Our tent was close to a little stream that was really pleasant to listen to as we fell asleep. The flush toilets were very clean and well maintained. And we had a camp cat show up! Never had a feral cat join us for a cook out before. We loved this site and would definitely recommend it.

    Guide to Teasdale

Dispersed camping sites near Teasdale provide high desert camping at elevations between 6,800-8,000 feet with temperature fluctuations of 30-40°F between day and night. The region sits at the western edge of Capitol Reef National Park where the Fremont River carves through sandstone formations. Access routes include Highway 24 and Highway 12, with most dispersed sites requiring vehicles with moderate clearance.

    What to do

Hike the waterfall trail: 1.5 miles round trip from Singletree Campground to a scenic cascade. "There is a short trail that leads to a beautiful waterfall if you follow along the creek. This campsite was pretty high in elevation, so expect colder nights," notes Chris P.

Explore historic fruit orchards: Fruita's historic district offers seasonal fruit picking opportunities during summer months. "Having the campground amidst the orchard is a beautiful thing. Should've planned my stay around harvest time!" says Justin S. about Fruita Campground.

Stargazing at dispersed sites: The dark sky areas provide exceptional celestial viewing opportunities. "The night sky was magnificent and may have made up for our inability to shower for a couple days. We were the only ones in the park, Winter camping. It's located in a dark sky area, so the skies are clear and the air is clean," reports Carlyne F.

    What campers like

Weather variation between sites: Higher elevation campgrounds offer cooler temperatures during summer. "After visiting two very popular Utah parks -- Zion and Bryce Canyon -- Capitol Reef was a breath of fresh air. And one of our favorite parts about visiting this park is that it was almost totally free!" shares SwitchbackKids about Capitol Reef National Park Dispersed Camping.

Natural wildlife encounters: Many sites feature regular wildlife sightings. "This is one of my favorite places to be in the summer. Red rocks and in the mist is a green lush valley. I love going and seeing the big deer in the campground and park," explains Brad B.

Proximity to red rock formations: Campsites positioned near distinctive geology. "This is a great spot not far at all from the Park. You're up on a beautiful bluff but we won't stay again due to relentless wind. Zero wind in the park just a 15 min drive away but the wind here was just terrible," warns Jenn C. from Beas Lewis Flat Dispersed.

    What you should know

Weather extremes require preparation: Strong winds affect exposed campsites particularly in spring. "This site has the basics (clean toilets and showers). The site had nice views but is very exposed and very very windy which means we kept time outside of the van to a minimum as it wasn't very relaxing," explains Kayleigh T. about Sand Creek RV, Cabins, Tents.

Limited cell coverage: Signal strength varies significantly between campgrounds. "Easy to get to. Spacious spots, away from other sites, and stunning view. Close to gas and restaurants and Capital Reef," notes C L.

Wildlife hazards: Be aware of nocturnal animals that can cause damage. "Convenient spot for stop over on your way further. Plenty of road to get beyond the crowded campers always near the entrance. Was only here for an overnight and a rat crawled up into our warm engine bay and chewed through our fuel injector copper wires," warns Alysha C.

    Tips for camping with families

Seek shade structures: Many sites offer minimal natural coverage from sun. "We stayed in loop C and there was plenty of shade to stay cool. There were also lots of people cooling off in the river that runs through the campground. There were abundant mule deer that walked through the campsite," shares Hattie R.

Consider campgrounds with recreational areas: Several sites provide dedicated play spaces. "This campground was clean and calm. We liked having the store on site, and the drive to Capitol was an easy one. The staff was very friendly, the showers and bathrooms were very clean, and we loved the open lawn in the middle," writes ACE M. about Thousand Lakes RV Park.

Schedule activities around heat: Plan morning explorations before temperatures rise. "It can get hot here in the summer and it is nice that they have drinking water at the campsites. They have a big group site that can be reserved and it will hold lots of people. Lots of fun hills for the kids to climb," recommends Brad B.

    Tips from RVers

Choose wind-protected sites: Position vehicles strategically to minimize exposure. "Many spots to select from. The road is a little rough in spots, so slow is good. Great views," advises Larry S. from Overlook Point Dispersed Site.

Manage clearance challenges: Many dog friendly campgrounds near Teasdale require careful navigation. "The entrance and exit have rocks you need to navigate around but don't let that worry you. Contrary to other posts here, it does have 2 porta-potties. It's a clean area," explains Ron M.

Consider seasonal closures: Some facilities operate on limited schedules. "Located in Torrey, Utah this RV park was a great place to stay when visiting Capitol Reef National Park. The National Park was a 10 minute drive away from the park. They're still open in the Winter, but we didn't find out they closed their showers and bathrooms until we were told upon arrival," notes Carlyne F.
