Clayton Park RV Escape in Lake Ariel features level gravel sites with full hookup capabilities and operates seasonally from May through October. Cell service fluctuates throughout the area, particularly in more remote locations near state parks. Pet-friendly policies are common at private RV parks, though specific restrictions may apply. Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Montrose Campground

Family and pet friendly year-around campground

We tried this campground a few times for short stays and ended up going seasonal last year and will do the same this year. It is a little off the beaten path but is great for families (plenty of activities for kids) and pets (our dog LOVES it there). They have a pool, fishing pond, hiking trails, mini golf, playground, large grassy areas for kids to play, and horseshoe pits. There is a store (stocked with grocery staples/snacks but also TONS of RV specific supplies/parts), laundry and showers (a new and improved bath house is currently being built). There are planned activities almost every weekend during the 'season' but they are open all year with some winter sites available. They have all sites available from tent right up to 50 amp full hook-ups. I can't wait for the new season to begin in April!

    Happy Days Campground

Quiet, wooded, natural, lots to do in the area!

We stayed at Happy Days from Friday to Monday with our 21 foot travel trailer. Site P6. Pretty level site. We liked this site and the one next to it the best out of all of the sites. George at the camp store was so helpful and we watched him actively keeping up on and taking care of the campground cleaning, etc. the entire time. Showers had great pressure and bathrooms were super clean. We showered after a Spartan Race Mud Run and they were great. Scenic spot, mature trees, we could hear foxes communicating at night. Firewood available at camp store $7 a bundle. No sewer on sites, but has a dump station. Water pressure at the site was very good. Old school playground for kids, volleyball court. The rec hall had a piano, pool table, ping pong table and more. Close to dining, Kauneonga Lake and Callicoon Farmers Market among others. We will be back!

    Jerry's Three River Campground

    Friendly and fun!

I have been camping at Jerry’s for over 10 years now. The owner is friendly and stops to chat often with us each time we go. The campground is VERY rustic with little to no amenities. There are tent sites, seasonal sites for RVs, group tent & RV sites and group/pavilion sites. There are little to no sites with electric/water hook ups however, there is a centrally located water spout to use. There are bathrooms/wash houses- they are cleaned once or twice a day but honestly, they get filthy. Jerry’s is a good place for a great time with friends; large groups usually visit Jerry’s year after year. No one bothers you and everyone respects the rules, most of the time. ☺️ We have taken our children there often but I wouldn’t recommend or call it family friendly. The location is beautiful and about 2 hours from NYC.

What to Do

Paddling and water activities: Soaring Eagle Campground offers direct Delaware River access for fishing, tubing and canoeing. One visitor notes, "Nice campground right on the Delaware river great for fisherman, hikers also great for tubing down the Delaware or canoeing."

Lake swimming: Visitors at Keen Lake Resort Campground enjoy multiple water recreation options. A camper shared: "We had SUPs and kayaks to take on the lake and our sites were right next to the boat launch. Each day we would paddle over to the swimming area on the lake."

Hiking trails: State parks surrounding Honesdale offer trail systems suitable for various skill levels. One camper at Lower Lake Campground stated: "Hiked 2 short easy trails (Little Falls and the Conservation Nature Loop- which we drove to). Absolutely beautiful!"

What Campers Like

Spacious sites: Many campgrounds near Honesdale provide larger sites than typically found at more commercialized campgrounds. At Soaring Eagle Campground, one camper explained: "Sites are huge, plenty of room for 2+ family campers" while another mentioned the campground "still manages to maintain a more remote and rustic feel by preserving the trees, stream and riverfront property in a natural state without concrete pads or driveways."

Clean facilities: Clayton Park RV Escape receives consistent positive comments about maintenance. A reviewer simply stated it's "A well run, well staffed, facilities are excellent." Another camper who experienced an issue mentioned, "Even though I had a boo boo, they were very forgiving, after I explained that I had a brand new RV and it had an issue with my black water tank."

Family-friendly atmosphere: Campgrounds throughout the region cater well to families. One Keen Lake visitor shared: "My family has been going there for years and finally decided that this was our final place and made it our seasonal camping place 3 years ago. My boys absolutely love it and always have something to do."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: When selecting sites, consider specific RV needs. At Timothy Lake South, a camper advised: "Sites are long but narrow. Best water pressure I have seen on the east coast, unregulated it's over 80 psi."

Winter options: Limited rv campgrounds near Honesdale, Pennsylvania remain open year-round. At Tri-State RV Park, a winter camper shared: "Open during the winter. Easy on, easy off. Lots of pull through sites. Next to grocery store. CLEAN bathrooms, showers, laundry."

Highway proximity: Some rv parks prioritize accessibility over tranquility. A Tri-State RV Park visitor cautioned: "Located just off the highway so lots of vehicle noise 24/7. Sites are on a gravel lot. Restrooms are clean. Not much else to say about this CG, is just a parking lot with hookups."
