    Seaside, Oregon

Just an hour’s drive west of Portland, the oceanfront town of Seaside is a convenient hub for exploring Oregon’s spectacular northern coast area, and all its attractions and activities. Start with the downtown Seaside area, which features a collection of shops, galleries and eateries featuring a Northwest–Pacific flair. At the end of the main drag is a wide sandy beach that invites sunning, swimming and surfing, and is popular for kite-flying. Just south of town, Ecola State Park is a wooded headland with hiking trails and sandy beaches. A little farther south, the small town of Cannon Beach—named in the late 1800s for the rusty cannon that washed ashore nearby—features a variety of cafes, eclectic shops, and fine art galleries. Just offshore of the town’s wide, sandy beach is Haystack Rock, a 235-foot-high volcanic sea stack. North of Seaside, the village of Astoria sits near the Columbia River’s delta on the Pacific Ocean. This historic town features a fascinating maritime museum, and the artistic Astoria Column, which offers panoramic views from atop its narrow, winding staircase. Located just minutes from downtown Seaside and its plethora of fish and chips shops, the Seaside RV Resort is an ideal base for exploring all of the area’s many sights and attractions. The resort features 260 year-round, back-in campsites with full hookups, flush restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and recycling stations. Most sites are open and grassy; some sites and facilities are ADA accessible. A primitive tent camp is located in a wooded area away from the RV section, and there are cabins and cottages available for rent. The resort features picnic areas, kids’ playground, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness center, spa, sports courts, mini golf, and a dog park. Guests are welcome to participate in group activities and enjoy live entertainment. Wifi service is available in resort clubhouses. Dogs are welcome, but must remain leashed outside of campsites. Campsite rates are $44–$61/night; cabins and cottages are $135–$170/night; reservations available.

    Close campground to Cannon Beach

Great campground about a mile from Cannon Beach. There are cabins, RV sites, and tent spaces. It's a little higher in price then a national forest campground, I paid around $40 a night, but was there for the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Competition, which I highly recommend going to. There were several tent sites with some in the shady tree area and others in the sun. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot. At the bath house there was an outdoor sink area, where you could do your dishes. There are even horse stables on the grounds that you can pay to ride on the beach. It is a great campground in the city of Cannon Beach. I would recommend this park to anyone wanting to camp near the beach.

Great time, despite the rain! Bathrooms were super clean and people were friendly. There is a great little hike/walk where you can take your dog just up the hill from the campground. Super pretty! Not far from Cannon Beach, maybe 4 minute drive. Definitely worth the stop!

    Minutes from the ocean

This campground has tent and RV sites plus cabins.

We stayed in a cabin. The cabins are tasteful, spacious and clean and come equipped with kitchen supplies, microwave and coffee maker. What really makes these cabins stand out is that they come with bathrooms, no having to walk to the community bathrooms!!

This campground is unique in that it has an indoor pool and hot tub so swimming is possible in bad weather.

The campground is located within walking distance to an outlet mall but you may want to drive to the free public parking closer to the beach.

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Walk to Haystack Rock

Just east of Hwy 101 in Cannon Beach, this RV resort is an easy (really!) 10 minute walk to the beach, just north of Haystack Rock. A sidewalk underpass under 101 and a path through a small city park makes it a family-friendly, dog-friendly walk to the outstanding beach sunsets. A bit longer walk (or easy bike ride) takes you into the heart of Cannon Beach with all the restaurants, ice cream shops, galleries, coffee shops and candy stores. Campground is open year round, has full hook-ups, good wifi, well managed and maintained, has an indoor pool and hot tub (pool facility was closed during covid, check on availability) decent bath houses (also closed during covid), nice sites with lots of tall trees. They also sell propane, firewood and have a gas station. (And they even have an electric car charging station, if you need it) Fun fact: In the winter months you will likely see the local elk herd around town. Note: no tents allowed and our ATT service only has one bar at our site. Would definitely recommend this place for RV camping.

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

Close to the beach and well maintained

We loved this campground so much that we extended our stay and were there for 10 days. Really well maintained and just 10 minutes away from the beach in Cannon Beach, it is a lovely walk from the campground to town and to the beach. The staff is very friendly, the campground clean and sites with full hook ups. There are trees everywhere and it provides shade for portion of the day to the campsites. They have great WiFi. I needed because I am on the road, working remotely. I have a lot of teams and zoom Video calls and the connection was great! There is a great hike at Ecola park which is accessible by the road where the campground is located. The laundry is open and only one person is allowed at a time due to Covid-19 and they have to sanitize it after each person uses the facility. Really great to see them following CDC guidelines and keeping the facility sanitizes. The bathrooms, pool and spa were closed due to Covid-19 and you had to be self contained to be able to be there. We had a great time and we will stay there when we go back to Cannon Beach, which has a special place in our hearts. For those who do not know Cannon Beach, that’s where the haystack from goonies is located. The house from Goonies is in Astoria, which is about 35-40 min from Cannon Beach. Great scenic drive when you go south of cannon beach. Oswald State Park is a great hike and you can finish with a walk on the beach. Manzanita is a beach town cute town close by. Keep driving south and go get some fish and chips at Riverside Fish & Chips in Nehalem, cute little town-the food truck is behind a building, by a lake. Keep going south...and you can go crabbing. It was our first time and it was super fun. Got dogs??? Oregon is very dog friendly, which we love because we have two dogs - which we consider our kids! Lots do do in the area! Worth the stay!

    Nice campground with beach access

The location is perfect, with an easy walk to the beach, making it ideal for those who love the ocean.

The campground offers a variety of amenities, including a pool and hot tub, which are perfect for relaxing after a day of activities. For pet owners, there's a convenient dog park where dogs can run and play.

The RV sites nice, but not very spacious. It is super nice that full hook-ups are standard. Tent sites are also available and offer a comfortable camping experience.

    Thousand Trails Seaside

    Very close to ammenaties

The campground is split up into two sides. The north side and the south side. The north side has the getaway cabins, and cottages. It also has the pool/hot tub, cafe, group fire pit, kids play ground, and overflow parking. Pickleball/tennis courts. The north side is also the only side that has 50A power. The south side is all 30A. The tent sites are also on the north side. It gives access to all the amenities here. They took out the propane site, cause they didn’t have anyone to take care of it. We come down here to get away from the heat, inland, area. It’s usually 20-30 degrees cooler, than inland. So when the heat hits the valley, everyone runs to the coastline. So it can get crowded. You have to be careful with your kids. People don’t drive the speed limit. It’s 5mph. They drive like they are in the raceway. The Clatsop county beaches, have the best razor clam digging, in Oregon. On every minus tide, in the winter and spring, you have some of the best razor clams, this far south of Alaska. Usually from he first of October, to July 15th, all minus tides will expose the clam beds enough to walk out and get a delicious meal. Plus the Columbia River estuary is just 10 miles away. Which is the place of the world class Buoy #10 Salmon fishery, every August - October. Both Large Chinook Salmon, and the feisty smaller, Coho (silver) salmon. You also have fresh crabbing available in town, and behind the old high school, or drop a few pots while out salmon fishing, for a great fresh seafood meal.

    Thousand Trails Pacific City

    Quiet stay in the woods

This campground is absolutely beautiful to me. It's nestled in the woods next to the beach with the cute little town of Pacific City just 5 minutes away. The staff was very friendly. We have yet to meet an unfriendly staff member at a Thousand Trails campground. There are two entrances... Just make sure you go in the one with the big sign. The other is actually used moreso as an exit. Some of the roads get a bit steep so be slow and cautious. We have a 38' rig. If you have a bigger rig we were told to avoid the Section I because it's hard to turn around. We went towards Section E instead. With a 2 week stay we needed sewer hookups which are very limited. We got space E1 which was fairly private, full hookups, 50 amp, and right by the bathrooms too. If you come to Section E do NOT turn around at the bathroom. It's too tight. Go straight to the turnaround at the end and come back. We saw way too many people almost trash their rigs. It looks like there are some higher up spots that have amazing views but they were all already taken. Limited services at them though.

The facilities all looked great! Well kept and nice. The lodge is the one place with internet since the repeaters weren't functional yet. Someone mentioned people keep hitting them too much to get them up and running yet. The  indoor pool is clean and next to an outdoor hot tub. Some of the recreational amenities are a bit worn but I can understand not keeping them up as it doesn't seem like people use them much anyways. There are a few spots to just sit and look out at the ocean that we enjoyed. There's also a nice trail that goes down to the ocean. You do cross the road so just watch out there. It's marked for cars to be aware too.

The sand dunes nearby are a great spot to see. We also hung out for a bit at the beach in Pacific City. Tillamook is a short drive and worth the trek as well as Cape Meares to the north.

Great spot to stay in Cannon Beach

This is a great campground to stay at if you’re visiting Cannon Beach and nicely centrally located along the coast to visit the surrounding areas. You can walk into town (2.5 blocks) and the spaces are very green with picnic tables at each. Good size spots, not super spacious but good size flat spaces. There are RV(12’-40’)/Tent sites as well as various size cabins. They also have a general store and coffee bar. During the summer they have various horse 🐴 rides along the beach including night rides.

Full Hook-Up $62.00/night Water and Electric $57.00/night Tent Site $45.00/night Small Park Cabins $105.00/night (sleeps 2) Large Park Cabins $120.00/night (sleeps 3)

    Sea Ranch Resort

    Small gem, great location

I am not normally super spontaneous but on Friday afternoon I looked at the weather in Cannon Beach and decided yep, we’re going camping. I have both of my kids this weekend so it was a great opportunity for a family trip. As much as I wanted to throw my hammock and a couple tents in the jeep and head out on an adventure, I needed to accommodate the vast requirements of 2 teenagers. One who does not particularly like camping, especially if it’s in a tent so I wanted to find a cabin. With such a late booking I knew not to get my hopes up.

I headed over to The Dyrt and started my search. Looking up "Cannon Beach" with the cabin filter on I was able to see a few campgrounds there, I saved them to my list and started making calls to find an opening. I lucked into“Sea Ranch” and although I must have driven by this location dozens of times, It is kind of in a hidden spot right when you get into Cannon Beach’s north end. The manager who answered the phone was straight to the point but friendly. I booked 2 nights. She let me know check-in was at 7pm but if we were running late to just call and we’d be fine. She also went over a covid symptoms check and let me know the park rules. I rushed to pack all of our stuff and get on the road to make it in time to check in!

After a mildly congested drive out to Cannon Beach, we pulled off the 101 into town. Sure enough, we were late. I called and it was no issue. The map only showed the address so we had a couple turnarounds to find the entrance. It’s tucked away behind a park and a bridge and easy to miss off the road. We pulled up to the building and got our key as well as a portable heater which was a surprise(with such a warm weekend we didn’t end up using it). The campground is fairly small and the sites follow suit setting close together and not overly private. I am not sure this would be my first choice for tent camping. Although some of the sites towards the back of the campground are a bit more spacious and wooded and have nice trees for hammocks, if that’s your thing. I was relieved to see the cabin we were staying in was off the beaten path. Parking was a breeze and we parked right next to our weekend shelter.

The cabin was small, cozy, and clean. The kitchen area had plenty of cabinets to store stuff and decent counter space. A microwave and small refrigerator were also helpful. The small bathroom housed a mid size shower(with enough hot water for 1 shower) and full size toilet. The beds were pretty comfortable and the futon was in good enough shape. A large patio and fire pit outside gave us plenty of room outside. Lot’s of trees around gave nice shade and lot’s of small animals were around, chipmunks, bunny rabbits and various birds.

The campground also looks like it has some nice features that weren’t available due to COVID. A large general store, a horse ranch, ice and firewood. Still open was a building that housed bathrooms and showers, RV features including a sanitary dump and water. It also looked like there was a big sink area to clean dishes and whatnot. A large dumpster was also near this building for dumping trash. All in all this is a gem located a couple blocks from the beach and downtown Cannon Beach.

I would 100% stay here again and have added it to my saved campsites list.

    Sea Ranch Resort

Nice Campground in the Middle of Cannon Beach

Even though I tend to stay mostly at public campgrounds whenever possible, every once in a while a sweet private campground will pop up and make me rethink my ways. Sea Ranch Resort is one of the nice private campsites that still feels homey and unique rather than cookie cutter. Add to it that the campground is practically right in the middle of Cannon Beach, and both the location and the grounds are winners.

There's a wide variety of places to stay including tent sites, RV sites, and cabins, along with clean bathrooms and showers. I especially appreciate the nice strolls, flowers, and pathways throughout. If you're looking for a nice place to lay your head while in the area you've found a good one.

    Indoor pool was great!

Close to Cannon Beach, but not as close as I was expecting. The indoor pool was exactly what we were looking for. My kids had a blast. The basketball court and game room was a bit worn down, but my kids still enjoyed them. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of wilderness, privacy. RV park is right next to houses. I was hoping for more trails to walk our dog. The bathroom was clean. The store was not very well stocked. It was very convenient that they sell propane and gas though. Not sure if we’d stay again, but it was a nice two night getaway.

    Adventure Awaits!

Such a great place to stay on the Oregon coast! I love this campground because it’s on the coast, very beautiful and spacious. Great sites around to see including the mouth of the Columbia River. Spacious sites you can reserve and electric/water etc. There is even an area for hiker and bikers. You’re close to Astoria, Gearhart, Cannon Beach and Portland is only an hour and a half away.

    Great spot in Cannon Beach

I love this campground for its closeness to the beach. There are not a lot of campgrounds near Cannon beach so this one is my favorite because I can walk to the beach. Clean restrooms with hot showers for this Pacific Northwest Campground.

    Cannon Beach Glamping

This is a really nice RV Resort right in the middle of Cannon Beach. You almost don’t feel like you’re camping. With an indoor pool, jungle gym for kids, basketball court and of course the beach down the street what more could you want. Safe, clean and a beautiful area to be in.

    Great location!

For a place right in Cannon Beach this place is great. Clean and green. Beautiful landscape and you could easily walk or ride a bike to the beach a few blocks away. The spaces are a bit small so I’m not sure you’d want to bring an RV here but for tent ⛺️ it’s definitely a nice spot.

    Elk Bugles and Chuckles

Tucked away in the trees of Cannon Beach is this nice little RV Resort. All amenities were top notch for your needs at a park. The Elk greeted us and were eating all the flowers as we entered. Gas station, propane, laundry, showers, convenience store, pool and two shower/restroom facilities. Paved parking spots with fire pit, picnic tables and full hookup.

    Fort Stevens State Park Campground

Oregon State Park at its finest

Fort Stevens State Park in Warrenton, OR is a clean and well maintained park for all levels of camping from tents to large RV’s. They even have Yurts, many which are pet friendly. There are many miles of hiking/biking trails through forest and beaches. The old fort is fun to visit . For those wanting to explore further, there is Astoria to the north and Seadide and Cannon Beach to the south. I highly recommend a visit.

Clean, close to town, friendly staff

Great campground and $20 cheaper than the other option I found in Cannon Beach. Full hook-ups. No tents allowed. Paved spots with surrounding grass and lots of trees. 10-15 minute walk to the South end of town, a bit longer to get down to the boutique shopping and more dining. 15 minute drive to Ecola State Park with great view points, hiking trails and a beach where surfers frequent. 2.5 mile Clatsop Loop was beautiful. Loved the large expansive beaches. Found easy parking at Tolovana Beach.

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

Great family campground with close access to beach.

We stay here often. Easy to get to from our home on the west side of Portland. Friendly staff, clean restrooms ( not open recently due to COVID) and other facilities.

Walk to beach, coffee and restaurants if desired. Wonderful coffee at Sleepy Monk Roasters! Wayfarer is a great restaurant and they deliver to the park. Nice short hike on beach into main part of Cannon Beach for many more restaurants, and shops.

Central place to stay for access to Ecola State park to the North and Oswald State park and Beach to the south for hikes trail.
