Delaware State Park

Bill and Marge Davis had the dream of creating a place where families like their own could spend time together in the outdoors.  They dreamed of the giggles of small children as they jumped into a pool and the peacefulness of taking a nap underneath a big shade tree.  They visualized small boys with fishing poles over their shoulders walking to the lake.  They could even smell fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, and bacon cooking on a Coleman stove. In 1966 with 5 kids and a hole in their pockets, Bill and Marge invested all they had and purchased land in Galena, Ohio. The dream was shared with their children, and year after year, improvement after improvement, Berkshire Lake Campground grew to what it is today.  What began as open land a few rustic campsites is now 81 acres of primarily wooded area with over 300 full-service lots. 

We have 50 beautiful daily camping sites, all full-hookup, with both 30 and 50 amp service. These sites are available to rent on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis. Centrally located, they are within a short distance from the store, pool, activity center, and facilities!

Rustic Knolls Campground

Come on in, kick back & enjoy some nature in the country. Open on weekends only, Grins & Pickin's CampFarm offers the ultimate return to nature, where the spring wildflowers are spectacular and wildlife viewing is plentiful. Deer, turkey, coyote, fox, mink, opossum, eagles, barred owls, lots of frogs also live here. The CampFarm offers nature-based & homesteading activities where you can even pick your own morning fresh eggs for breakfast! Our primitive campground is an outdoor recreation facility located on a working farm near the very heart of Ohio, where you truly can get away from it all! We charge by the carload & the weight & number of wheels on our fields ($20 tents, $25 popups, $30 small rvs). While our fields are tiled for fast drainage, there is no blacktop or concrete driveways/pads so driving access is limited during heavy rains. There is no hookup for electric, no wifi, bring in your own water. There are 31 very large campsites and 20 acres of farmland, gardens, frog pool, bluegill fishing pond, pollinator maze, prairie trail, woods & a creek; seasonal pyo produce; nature programs; suite rental. All of the sites have a fire pit, half have picnic tables. Available for a fair price is dry firewood, best tastin' chicken/duck eggs, good clean water. 4 miles from Interstate 71 Exit 140.

Alum Creek State Park

Nice relaxing place close to the city. Get out of town, without getting too far. Plenty of river front and peace.

Alder Farm

Scioto Grove Metro Park is a 620-acre park along the Scioto River with mature forests and scenic bluffs overlooking the river. It features more than seven miles of trails, two picnic areas with shelters, tables and grills, a kids play area and several overlook decks. The park is located on a scenic bend of the Scioto River and is a great destination for canoeists, kayakers, anglers and people wanting to see waterfowl and other wildlife. Dogs on leashes are welcome throughout the park, which also features a sledding hill.

Thanks to a generous donation of 193 acres of land from the City of Grove City, funds from the State of Ohio Clean Ohio Program, and passage of a property tax levy by Franklin County voters, Metro Parks has developed this park for people of all ages and abilities to experience nature and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Additional support came from outdoor retailer REI to construct a backpack trail along the river for those just getting into the sport, as well as those seasoned backpackers who want a quick overnight without having to journey several hours.

Scioto-Grove Metro Park

Nestled between the Great Lakes and the Appalachian Mountains, Ohio offers a plethora of unforgettable outdoor experiences. Beautiful Lake Erie beaches give way to caves, escarpments, and waterfalls, so if you’re looking to go camping in Ohio, you’re bound to find the perfect spot!

East Harbor State Park, another camper’s haven along the shores of Lake Erie, offers opportunities for boating, fishing, 10 miles of hiking trails, and three boat ramps make this amazing campground the perfect spot for avid outdoorsmen and family campers alike. 


South of Lake Erie, near the border of West Virginia, campers will find Ohio’s famous Hocking Hills area. Stunning cliffs and waterfalls, deep hemlock forests, and world-famous caves make this area one of the most popular for year-round camping in Ohio. The most well known cave in the Hocking Hills is Old Man’s Cave, so named for hermit Richard Rowe who lived in the cave for 30 years after settling in the area around 1800. The Old Man’s Cave area provides trails along a breath-taking gorge, which was carved 150 feet into the sandstone by the waters of Old Man’s Creek.

## Overview

Both picnic shelters at Dam Site Recreation Area make for a pleasant getaway at Delaware Lake.   
  
Shady Ridge Shelter is nestled under elms atop a grassy ridge, providing privacy from surrounding areas, while Elm Grove Shelter is cradled between rows of trees just 50 ft. from the parking area.

#### Natural Features:

Both reservable shelters are near the dam on Delaware Lake in central Ohio. The lake is hugged by forests, which provide a habitat for groundhogs, pheasants and white-tailed deer.

#### Recreation:

Pack a picnic or fire up the grill with friends and family. Anglers might want to bring their rods and take advantage of excellent fishing opportunities on the river below the dam.   
  
In addition, the Division of Wildlife stocks fishing ponds in the 4,670-acre wildlife area adjacent to Delaware State Park.

#### Facilities:

Both picnic shelters provide water and electric hookups, playgrounds, a volleyball court and easy access to restrooms. An open grassy space is ideal for field sports like soccer.  
  
Shady Ridge provides more privacy, while Elm Grove boasts a textured patio with pedestal tables and a group grill.

#### Nearby Attractions:

Delaware State Park is just over a mile from the picnic shelters and offers lots of activities, from jet skiing to disc golf.  
  
A series of low-intensity hiking trails, ranging from .25 miles to 1.6 miles, traverse the area and connect with the lakeshore.
