Golden Hill State Park Campground welcomes pets in designated camping areas along Lake Ontario, offering electric hookups and spacious sites for tents, RVs, and cabins. Four Mile Creek State Park Campground provides similar pet-friendly accommodations with lakefront views approximately 20 minutes from Niagara Falls. Both parks maintain clean facilities with hot showers and require proof of rabies vaccination for dogs. Niagara Shores Campground features a large grassy area specifically for exercising pets, though campers note the presence of feral cats that occasionally scatter trash and meow at night. Most campgrounds in the region enforce standard leash policies, with pets needing to be attended at all times and cleaned up after properly. The state park camping pass provides free parking access at other nearby state parks during your stay.
Lakeside trails throughout these campgrounds offer excellent opportunities for dog walking, with many sites providing views of Lake Ontario through the trees. Golden Hill State Park's C loop sites 40-45 provide prime lake-front views where dogs can enjoy the shoreline. Daisy Barn Campground features a giant green space between camp spots and the lake, perfect for throwing balls with pets. Campers should be prepared for mosquitoes, particularly at sites near water. Several campgrounds include designated pet exercise areas, though they vary in size and maintenance. Wildlife encounters are possible, so keeping pets leashed protects both local animals and your dog. Most campgrounds in the area are open seasonally from May through mid-October, with varying amenities and site privacy depending on the specific loop and campground.
"We had site 47 in loop C, which was across the road from the lake view sites. I recommend sites 40-45 for lake-front views."

"There is a lake with non-motor boat rentals, they have a small pub with local brews on tap and a large activity hall. Great staff!"
"While we were right next to the bathroom, we really weren't bothered by noise or traffic, and our site still felt quite private."
"It's located kind of in the middle of nowhere, on the bluffs above Lake Ontario. It's a nice drive on the Lake Ontario Parkway, which abruptly ends here at the park."
from $24 - $26 / night

"This was a beautiful campground right on Lake Ontario. You could even see Toronto from the shore. The host was super accommodating when we realized our assigned spot was close to the road."
"Everything was tidy and clean, from our campsite, laundry room, showers, bathroom, camp store, and walking paths. My only complaint is that all campsites do NOT have a view of Lake Ontario."
"This is a campground of several lakeside cabins and mostly RVs, so they were also seldom in use, making them even more accommodating for us during this time of distancing."
"My dog and I had the best first tent camping trip here. The bathrooms were sparkling and it was very well maintained."

Jake from the Dyrt here! Quiet Valley is a glamping campground with canvas tents in a slowed down country setting in New York. Check them out and leave a review about your stay on the Dyrt!
Nice secluded place. Quiet surroundings with lots of stuff for kids to do. Swimming, fishing, putt putt, petting zoo. Camp sites are clean and large. Ownership is extremely friendly. Will visit again.
There was a great WiFi connection, so it was difficult to get my boys to go explore! We have a 35 foot travel trailer and had zero difficulty backing into a W/E spot. Gravel pads, decent space between RVs. We did need our extra hose to reach our spigot but I think that was unusual. The dump station was easy to get to and clean when we left.
Playgrounds, beach, mini-golf, dog park, bounce pillow, basketball, volleyball, movie nights, wagon rides twice a day with Jellystone characters, lots of daily activities, water park, kayaks, SUP’s, canoes, LIFEGUARDS!... ALL INCLUDED. My kids did mini-golf 4 times. Snack bar (with good wings and delivers!). Golf cart rentals. What was I most impressed with? Trash pickup. You put it in front of your site, somebody picked it up. Any time of day.
There were three types of cabins I saw, but didn’t go inside. You could fish in the pond. The website says Laser Tag but we didn’t explore that far. The town is teeny tiny so no good grocery store around. The grounds were well kept. Niagara Falls were a little more than an hour away. Great day trip!
We we will come back next year and bring our cousins!
Things I enjoyed about Cherry Hill Campground:
The owners are awesome, approachable, and helpful.
Many sites are separated by hedges, are drive-in sites yet still close to water, restrooms, and shower even a microwave.
There are nature yoga classes and they bring bands in to perform. It is right across from Darian Lake Six Flags theme park. And dogs are welcome without a pet fee.
The only thing I didn't enjoy was a neighbor across the hedge who felt a need to play his music loud and continual, (we were so lucky the music was agreeable to our tastes). Music is supposed to stop at midnight. Call the office and the neighbors turn off the music until starting up again at 2:30 am.
The price we pay for hyper convenience in camping and of course, it is a dice roll and probably not a problem during the week.
Great place to relax and have fun with the family , lots of pets , kids loved the beach and it's only minutes from 6 flags
Quiet campground with close campsites. Nice grassy area for pets. We were parked directly behind the motel. Dated facilities. 12 minutes from the Falls 20 minutes from Canada. We stayed 3 nights and personally would not stay longer than that. There was some sketchy folks with obvious drug activity inside the motel who on occasion would come out back. They never bothered us but not super comforting.
I dont even know where to start 2 water parks for kids and adults play areas for pets DEFINITELY BRING OR RENT THE GOLF CART , very hilly but tons of fun
We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.
Barker, New York sits along the southern shore of Lake Ontario approximately 35 miles northeast of Niagara Falls. The area features a relatively flat terrain with elevations around 300 feet above sea level and experiences moderate seasonal variations with humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Mosquitoes can be particularly abundant during summer months near lakeside camping areas, especially in the evening hours.
Disc golf course access: Golden Hill State Park offers a complete frisbee golf course for outdoor recreation during your stay. "Be sure to visit the light house on your visit. With standard sites and a beautiful water for fishing this camp ground is great for a weekend or even for a day hike or a nice game of frisbee golf," notes Meag F. from Golden Hill State Park Campground.
Lighthouse exploration: The Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse at Golden Hill State Park provides historical interest and scenic views. "The old lighthouse is a beautiful building, and the grounds in general are super well kept. There is a gazebo I would love to sit in for hours with a good book," writes Amanda P.
Wine trail excursions: Campers can explore the Niagara Wine Trail from many campgrounds in the area. "The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground, and Niagara Falls is about a 50 minute drive away," mentions Leah L. from Four Mile Creek State Park Campground.
Waterfront views: Many campers appreciate the lakeside settings and scenic vistas. "The view of Lake Ontario is absolutely breathtaking! The sunset views over the lake each evening were spectacular," shares Brett A. from Four Mile Creek State Park.
Toronto skyline visibility: On clear days, campers can spot the Toronto skyline across Lake Ontario. "This campground is set right on beautiful Lake Ontario, across from the Toronto skyline. It's a quiet simple pretty place," reports Laura Nicole A. from Daisy Barn Campground.
Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathrooms and showers are frequently mentioned in positive reviews. "The showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats," notes a visitor to Golden Hill State Park.
Seasonal openings: Most campgrounds near Barker operate from May through mid-October. "Our problem was that the low voltage power would trip our EMS. Power went to as low as 109 volts that I saw," reports Gary P. from Niagara County Camping Resort.
Site privacy varies: Campground layouts differ significantly in terms of spacing and privacy between sites. "It's pretty clear the planner of this park has never camped outside a KOA in their life. The location had so much potential but the sites are too close together," observes Brad M. about Lakeside State Park.
Limited swimming access: Not all lakefront campgrounds permit swimming. "It's a very nice park if you want to sit by the water but don't want to touch it. There's really not much of a beach if any at all," explains Thomas B. about Lakeside State Park Campground.
Playground locations: Check campground maps for playground proximity when booking sites. "Very small campground. Sites packed close together. ON Lake Ontario- SO gorgeous. Playground for kiddos," reports Ashley I. about Golden Hill State Park.
Open play areas: Some campgrounds feature large grassy areas ideal for family games. "Between the camp spots and the lake was a giant green space- awesome for throwing a ball around with your pup!" shares Jennifer N. about Daisy Barn Campground.
Educational opportunities: Consider campgrounds with historical features. "Lots of history at this place!" mentions a reviewer about Golden Hill's lighthouse, which offers tours during summer months.
Power reliability: Electrical service quality varies between campgrounds near Barker. "Our problem was that the low voltage power would trip our EMS. Power went to as low as 109 volts that I saw. We really wanted to love it there but with no sewer and bad power we had to leave early," cautions Gary P.
Site selection for pet-friendly camping near Barker: For RV camping with pets, look for sites with adequate space for pet exercise. "Very small campground. Sites packed close together," warns a reviewer about Golden Hill, while Niagara Shores Campground offers "a large grassy area specifically for exercising pets."
Dump station access: Not all campgrounds offer full hookups, so plan accordingly. "Not quite sure how that was supposed to work since half the time the gate wasn't manned anyway," notes a camper about navigating facilities at one campground, highlighting the importance of checking amenity access hours.
