Best RV Parks & Resorts near Barker, NY

Golden Hill State Park Campground in Barker offers RV sites with electric hookups, fifty-amp service, and sewer connections. The park operates seasonally from April 29 to October 15 and accommodates big rigs with spacious sites. "The sites were level and had a few trees. The campfire ring was right against the pad, which made it difficult to position our pop-up," noted one camper about their experience. Niagara Hartland RV Resort in nearby Gasport provides RV camping from May 15 to October 15 with electric hookups, fifty-amp service, and sewer connections. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron, approximately 30 miles from Barker, features full hookup sites with both back-in and pull-through options on gravel pads, operating from May 1 through October 31.

Most RV parks in the region require advance reservations, particularly during summer months and fall foliage season. Dump stations are available at Golden Hill State Park and most established campgrounds, though some smaller facilities may have limited dumping options. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area, with better connectivity at parks closer to larger towns. According to one visitor, "The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site #15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception." Pet policies generally allow dogs with proper vaccination documentation, and many parks offer on-site amenities such as laundry facilities, camp stores, and recreational activities.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

    Niagara County Camping Resort

    Niagra County Camping Resort

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

    Colden Lakes Resort

    Beautiful Campground

This a beautiful campground with very friendly staff. Our site was a level gravel back in site. The back in sites are very wide and roomy, the pull through sites are a little closer together. There are 4 small pristine lakes. It’s about an hour from Niagara Falls and out in the Country, very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely come back

Summer temperatures typically range between 65-85°F with moderate humidity, while spring and fall camping seasons experience temperature fluctuations between 45-70°F.

What to do

Lighthouse tours: At Golden Hill State Park Campground, visitors can explore the historic Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse. "Be sure to visit the light house on your visit. With standard sites and a beautiful water for fishing this camp ground is great for a weekend or even for a day hike or a nice game of frisbee golf. Lots of history at this place!" notes one camper.

Disc golf course: Golden Hill State Park offers a complete disc golf course within walking distance of campsites. The course winds through wooded areas and open fields near Lake Ontario. "There is also a Frisbee gulf course, basketball court, fishing, boat launch available. I do recommend bringing your own gear," advises a visitor.

Lake Ontario fishing: Multiple access points allow for shore fishing along Lake Ontario. Fish species include salmon, trout, bass, and perch depending on season. Early morning and evening hours typically yield best results. Many campers bring portable chairs and coolers for longer fishing sessions.

Niagara Wine Trail: Multiple wineries within 20-30 minutes of Barker RV parks offer tastings ranging from $5-15 per person. "The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground, and Niagara Falls is about a 50 minute drive away," mentions one camper from Golden Hill State Park.

What campers like

Waterfront access: Lakeside sites at Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging provide stunning views. "The best part of Golden Hill is being right on the shore of Lake Ontario. The Lakeside sites are the best bet as you get an unobstructed view of the incredible sunrise and sunset over the lake," shares one camper.

Clean facilities: Travelers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms and showers across multiple RV parks near Barker. "The showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats," notes a visitor to Golden Hill State Park.

Family-friendly amenities: Southwoods RV Resort in Byron offers recreational facilities for children and adults. "2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball. The employees are so helpful and nice! We enjoyed our stays and will be back," reports one camper.

Quieter atmosphere: Many RV parks near Barker provide a more peaceful experience compared to busier tourist areas. "The campground was quiet at night. The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground," reports one visitor about their experience.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most RV facilities around Barker operate between May and mid-October due to harsh winter conditions. Exact opening dates vary by campground, with most closing by Halloween. "We camped at Golden Hill over the weekend of July 24-26, 2020. Due to COVID, advance reservations are required to book a spot at any NY state campground," notes one camper.

Site spacing considerations: Some RV parks near Barker have tighter spacing between sites, particularly during peak summer months. "Some sites in the A-B loops are right next to each other, and we preferred the space for the sites in the C loop," advises one Golden Hill visitor.

Bathroom access: Facilities may be limited at some campgrounds, requiring longer walks from certain sites. "There are 2 bathrooms in the campground, one near the A-B loops and one near the entrance. It was quite a hike in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom from our site," reports a camper at Golden Hill.

Road noise factors: Hickory Ridge Golf & RV Resort and some other properties may experience traffic sounds from nearby roads. "Basic, clean campground about 20 mins from the Falls. Very convenient with nice workers but likely wouldn't book again. The noises of the town made it very difficult to sleep in our tent," reports one visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Activities for children: Southwoods RV Resort offers multiple play areas and recreational options. "Family friendly park, lots of activities, park hosts/owners are hands on and awesome," shares one family. "Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids," adds another visitor.

Budget-friendly options: Several campgrounds offer non-premium sites at lower rates while still providing amenities families need. Some parks offer weekday discounts of 10-15% compared to weekend rates. "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids. Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked. Golf carts not available," notes one camper.

Weather preparations: Lake Ontario weather can change quickly, especially in spring and fall. Bring layers and rain gear for unexpected temperature drops. "We stayed in August and we really enjoyed the setup and location of all the amenities this campground has," mentions one summer visitor to Southwoods RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Red Rock Ponds RV Resort caters primarily to seasonal campers but accepts transient RVers. "It was kinda close to other campers. Geared toward more seasonal campers. Covid only allows private campgrounds open so this was nice," notes one RVer.

Hookup variations: Different campgrounds offer various hookup configurations. "We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good," reports one visitor to Southwoods RV Resort.

Access considerations: Skyline RV Resort features narrow roads in some sections. "Great campground, a little tight if you like to spread out. The map was not correct and we did not have sewer hook up at the sight. The dumping station was free or included," advises one RVer.

Reservations timing: For RV parks near Barker, New York, book at least 2-3 months ahead for summer weekends and 3-4 weeks for weekdays. Some campgrounds may require minimum stays during peak periods. "The campground is gated and very clean and well-groomed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Southwoods and would stay there again if we were in the area," shares one RVer.
