The tent sites are clustered together near the vault toilet (smelly) and they are all walk in sites. Only tents are allowed in this area. The RV parking lot is by flush toilets and sink area. No tents are allowed. The flies were terrible! It is really hot right now and shade is limited.
This is basically just a big rocky lot. Perfect for one night in our truck bed camper. Some highway noise, but not offensive. No toilet, flat dessert for miles - so you have to be less than shy 😉
You cannot access this campground from National Parks rd. 62 , like the GPS thinks you can!
Didn't actually camp their because we couldn't make it to the camp grounds
When we pulled in we were the 2nd rv there. The lot is huge so we spread out. By the morning 3 more people arrived without any crowding issues. The surrounding area is sparse and beautiful. Be careful of wildlife, though!
Literally a big square of rocks in a desert but the stars made it worth it.
Very cute place, has spots for tents and just rv or car camping. Everyone is respectful of others out there and there is one vault toliet that is pretty clean. Would visit again if i were passing through!
We found the place empty so we took a scenic corner. Big trash dumpster on the gravel.
Great small (free) campground very close to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Surprised at how well-kept it was and the restroom is very clean. There are about 5/6 RV/campervan spots and equal tent spots, each with a picnic table under a canopy, a BBQ and fire ring. There were 3 cars parked at the…
Nice open spot right off the highway. Drive up the paved road and it’s on your left. Gravel has been laid down so it’s nice and firm for campers/RVs. Also has a garbage can there. No hookups or bathrooms. We tented but did so just outside the fence. There was several fire rings out there and the…
Ten or so shade canopies with picnic tables. Pot toilets and no noise from the road. But its always windy. Good spot for motocamping
Lots to do! Short drive to the caverns.
The campground was great the owners were nice. We stayed an extra day due to the sand storms. Shower house was clean and the water was hot!!
As basic as it gets for a free gravel lot used as a base camp, but a view worth a million bucks. Took an evening walk and everyone was very kind and friendly, kids had fun with other kids, and felt safe leaving the camper all day while we were at the national parks.
Stopped here to sleep for a night. Around 30 other RVs/vans, but nice and spread out in order for peace and quiet. Clean. Nice view of Guadalupe mountains as well, nice to wake up to!
Absolutely amazing. This lake is perfect. For walking across or driving any Ford Ranger across. Plenty of trails and dry weeds to burn. From time to time you might even see a few hookers. Top notch and ready for all ford rangers.
