      Lake Ozarks RV Resort

Clean campground, close to many attractions

This campground is clean, and is close to many attractions near the Lake of the Ozarks.

Wifi is spotty, but my site was at the back of the campground. The campsite also has a new in ground pool and dog park.

Reason I gave this campsite 3 stars is because it is clearly still under construction (6/30/23), which I was not aware of. My guess is this was the first season it was open. Half of the park still had conex boxes and construction equipment around. The dog park had little grass and was very rocky.

The owners were VERY nice and accommodating.

If I were to return next year in 2024 I have no doubt I would have given this campsite 4 or 5 stars

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

      Great Route 66 stop

The camp area looks new, cute playground, small fenced dog park type area, showers, laundry, fire pits and picnic tables. Very little trees or grass. Would love it if they played up the Route 66 theme they have going. Very convenient for our fishing trip!

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

      Nice area

Good area only a mile off the highway so it made a great night stopping point. Had great access for our starlink. They have a little dog park, kids park, and it was all clean and well maintained. Easy access and some nice pull through spots. Water, sewer, and electric hook ups. Fire pit and picnic table at site. Since it’s close the highway it was a little loud with traffic. 57$ a night for premium spots, 42$ a night for non premium

      Linn Creek Koa

      Great for just popping through.

Great place for a place to stay near the lake of the ozarks attractions. Super close to big surf and not a bad drive from all the lake has to offer. But not a favorite for a trip focused more on hanging out at the camp site. Very hilly (though grade on the site wasn’t bad at all), pull through sites make getting in easy with larger rigs but all roads through are gravel and rutted so not the easiest. Sites close together without much in between. Nice large trees would offer some summer shade but still not much separation between sites. Water and electric at site. Small “dog park” (fenced in area) great for smaller dogs to run off leash and pretty large kid okay ground too. Overall we will stay here again but think of it more as bringing our own hotel to the lake rather than coming to enjoy the campground.

      Finger Lakes State Park Campground

      Didn't feel welcome

We are homeless and we got a campsite for two week here and I got a special needs child. And my boy were up at the water and all I did was call then over to me and I get 3 cops at my site. When cross from me the people at that site start there car off and on all night and dog parks from 6 am to 8 am. But I get told if I am loud I get kick out. Thank you for the welcoming feel

      Dry Fork Recreation Area

      Dry Fork Campground

The Pine Ridge Campground a few miles down the road was full, so we ended up at 1 of the 8 sites here. This is an equestrian campground that allows non-horse campers, but prefers you check Pine Ridge first. We had a fine one-night stay while traveling through, but encountered A LOT of ticks on the overgrown trail. BEWARE of ticks and check yourselves and your pets if staying here. No cell service.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Lake of the Ozarks State Park campground Spring 2022

Lake of the Ozarks State Park campground is located in Kaiser Missouri about 5 miles down highway 134 off of highway 42. This campground is about 1.5 hour from Columbia and Springfield Missouri. It is approximately 3 hours from St.Louis and Kansas City Missouri .

Lake of the Ozarks State Park includes two different areas which are both located on Lake of the Ozarks.

The one reviewed here is located in Kaiser and includes Public Beach #1 , a marina/gas dock , horse stables/trails, hiking trails, beach, fishing dock, shore fishing and campground.

The other is located in Osage Beach about 20 minutes away and includes Public Beach #2, grand glaze marina/gas dock, shore fishing and hiking trails. No camping is available at the Osage Beach location aka PB 2 or grand glaze.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground is a wonderful place to set up camp for the weekend and is one of my all time favorites. The State Park is clean and well maintained with plenty to do for everyone.

The camp sites range from primitive to full hook up 50amp and you will see a range of camping types from tents to class A's . The sites are well spaced out despite how the reservation map appears on the State Park website. I would however suggest staying at the campsites on the outer edges as the interior sites are a bit more cramped.

This area includes bath and shower houses that are of average cleanliness for a State park (typically worn but clean). As well as 3 playgrounds for the kids. Also on site is a Beach so bring a Towel and swimming suit.

A few things to note . If you come in the winter or spring the lake will be low and your lake side campsite will be Lake view instead. You are located about 15 minutes from a grocery store however a camp store is available also bring bug spray.

Your ideal sites are lakeside 160's I stayed at #163 and it was wonderful open with not a lot of tress for the dogs to get tangled in.

This is a true gem at the lake and even though I only live 15 miles away we visit many times throughout the year.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Pretty camping area, lake was filthy and smelly

This was a pretty campsite with lots of trees and simple deer trails throughout. Sites are well spread out. The lake itself was filthy and smelly. Lots of trash and rotting fish on the shorelines. The campground website said they had WiFi throughout the campsite, however it was only available at the front office. No cell service. We had planned to stay for a week to school and work remotely, but had to cut our time here short because of no connectivity. If we hadn’t had the need for WiFi, this would have been a fine campground to stay at, as it is centrally located to many sightseeing locations.

Sties were level, kid and pet friendly, quiet campground, 30/50 amp electricity, no water hookups, firewood avail for fire pits, also had nice picnic tables. Inexpensive.

      Roberts Bluff Access

      Great Overnight Spot

Great stop 5 minutes off of I-70! The site has three camp sites available with car pull ins and fire rings. Lots of mosquitoes due to the site being right on the water. Also two cats hang out around the site. No bathroom we could find.

    Guide to Lohman

Dispersed camping near Lohman, Missouri offers varied terrain at elevations between 600-800 feet with temperature ranges from 20°F in winter to 90°F in summer. The area contains several conservation zones within Mark Twain National Forest with specific regulations regarding backcountry camping. Sites often feature oak-hickory forest cover, limestone formations, and access to tributaries of the Missouri and Osage rivers.

    What to do

Hiking and trails: Pine Ridge Recreation Area provides several color-coded trails suited to different ability levels. As one reviewer notes, "Lots of trails, plenty of freshly cut firewood. Excellent spot for overnight or weekends with the family" at Pine Ridge Recreation Area. The trails branch through pine forest sections and connect to wider conservation areas.

Fishing opportunities: Binder Park offers a 137-acre lake with productive fishing areas. According to a camper, "The lake offers amazing fishing whether from boat or shore. Lots of bass crappie and catfish. Lake has a motor restriction and a bait shop. Lots of fun places to paddle and only a short drive to town" at Binder Park Campground. Shore fishing is accessible via several fishing docks open for public use.

River activities: Osage Campground provides direct river access for boating and paddling. "This hidden little gem is a great place to spend some time. Close to Jefferson City and plenty of river activities," notes one visitor. Boat ramps at multiple conservation areas allow for convenient water entry points with minimal crowds during weekdays.

    What campers like

Natural environments: Three Creeks Conservation Area offers primitive wilderness camping in a natural setting. One camper mentioned, "An easy and beautiful spot to camp for free near I-70. About 15 minutes of a stunning drive away from the interstate. Plenty of sites, lots, and places to rest for the night. All free and secluded!" at Three Creeks Conservation Area. The area features multiple creek access points for water purification needs.

Entertainment options: Cooper's Landing provides unique social experiences alongside camping. A reviewer shared, "This is a fun spot with a cool vibe. Right on the river, food truck, bar and drinks at the general store, nice people, fire pit and music. There is a nice biking/jogging trail along the river as well." The venue regularly hosts live music events from Thursday through Sunday that wrap up by 10pm.

Wildlife viewing: Scrivner Road Conservation Area offers abundant wildlife observation opportunities. A visitor described it as "a Swiss Army knife of rugged off the path camping. Rivers, Lakes, Gun range, Horses and hiking can all be enjoyed here... This area has an abundance of wildlife equestrian trails and hiking" at Scrivner Road Conservation Area. Many campers report deer sightings particularly during early morning and evening hours.

    What you should know

Availability issues: Pine Ridge Recreation Area operates seasonally with specific closure periods. One reviewer warned, "I arrived at the site in April of 2025, and was greeted with a locked gate and signage stating rates are $15 per night. Envelopes and lock box are in place." Calling ahead to confirm operation status is essential, especially during shoulder seasons.

Safety considerations: Some campsites experience increased weekend traffic. A camper at Pine Ridge Recreation Area noted, "Busy on the weekends, best time is middle of the week." Another mentioned, "Judging by the beer cans in some site fire rings it might get rowdy on the weekend."

Limited facilities: Most dispersed camping areas offer minimal amenities. "You have to gather your own wood or bring approved stuff in, but it is perfect for a quick overnight trip," explains a reviewer about Pine Ridge. Visitors should prepare to be self-sufficient with water, sanitation supplies, and necessary camping gear.

    Tips for camping with families

Day trip possibilities: Lake of the Ozarks State Park provides family-friendly recreation within driving distance. A visitor shared, "Huge beautiful park. A lot of hiking and biking trails. Boat ramp and store in the park. We saw about 20 deer each day" at Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground. The park offers structured activities suitable for children of various ages.

Campsite selection: When choosing sites for families with children, consider specific locations. At Pine Ridge, one camper advised, "I stayed at #3 and it was a very spacious private spot. If you have kids/dogs I recommend spot #4 it has a long strip of playroom for running around without disturbing other spaces."

Dog friendly options: For those seeking dog friendly campgrounds near Lohman, Pine Ridge accommodates pets with space to explore. "This campground is pretty stripped down. There are vault toilets and that's it for amenities. However, it is also one of my favorites close to home to hike," notes a regular visitor. Most pet-friendly campsites near Lohman require leashes and proper waste disposal.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Osage Campground Retreat provides full RV services near Lohman. One RVer reported, "New gravel, with large flat spots, very clean and quiet. Long termers have been cleared out with only a few left that have well kept spots. Campground big enough for large rigs." The campground includes electric, water, and sewer connections at most sites.

Site accessibility: RV campers should research site dimensions and access routes. A visitor to Osage Campground noted, "Typical campground, pull thru sites, gravel, trees, canoe rental, camper rental, very nice shower house/laundry. Ask for a site around the perimeter for privacy." Some conservation area access roads may be unsuitable for larger RVs due to narrow passages and low-hanging branches.
