Tucked out of the way along the iowa river. My kids love this campground and it's cheap. They have a shower house, bathrooms, and a playground. How ever it does flood quit a bit and does not have a dump station. Convenience store in town a couple miles away with a big new city playground and a drop in point on the river right over the bridge you cross to get there for tubing and kayaking.
Decent fishing. Quiet campers. 2 campgrounds, newer one with modern facilities, no trees. Other side of park is older one, with mature trees, portable toilets, power, water, 15 or so sites. Close to i35, but not to close. Make reservations, facilities this good are full by Friday.
We love hiking here, and the cabins are campground are very nice.
Great for tent camping, very spacious and grassy sites, clean, grill/fire pit was really very nice. Very clean and modern bathrooms, easy access to water. Hiking trails were well maintained. Can't wait to come again.
Beautiful views, wonderful trails, cramped campground, poor tent camping conditions.
This was a super cool state park, great amenities, level and spacious RV spots. We loved it and will go back if we're in that area again.
Close sites, little shade. Nice owner's, quiet. Have church with non denominational service on sunday, which is nice.
Undergoing big upgrade to lake and facilities. Nice campground, lots of paved trails. Once lake is filled will be a class A area.
Loved it! Both our teenage boys agree it was one of the top 3 places on our South Dakota trip. We would definitely stay here again!!!
Comfortable and scenic park in Iowa with forested trails, gorge, and natural water features amidst the farm fields and rolling hills. Campground sites are well spaced and mostly level, many with shade and decent privacy. Mix of hookups for different needs; access to water and trash was easy. The bathrooms were a bit dated and unclean when we visited, but not terrible. Good cell coverage in the area and we could do work and school with our Verizon Hotspot. Beware of the raccoons! They were not aggressive from the standpoint of approaching us, but they were brash in approaching camper and supplies after dark, and they were a constant presence at the dumpster. Do not leave food out! Deer and other small game/wildlife seem abundant. Trails were poorly signed, but the park is relatively small and getting lost or wandering does not have bad consequences; you'll find where you wanted to go without too much trouble.
