Best Campgrounds near Rockledge, FL

Campgrounds near Rockledge, Florida primarily consist of established RV parks and developed camping areas along the Space Coast region. Encore Space Coast in Rockledge offers full hookup RV sites, while nearby options include Sonrise Palms RV in Cocoa and Jetty Park Campground in Cape Canaveral, which accommodates tents, RVs, and cabins. The area's camping landscape is characterized by waterfront locations along the Indian River and proximity to Kennedy Space Center, with most facilities providing electric hookups, water, and sewer connections. Several campgrounds in the region feature amenities like swimming pools, picnic tables, and shower facilities.

The subtropical climate influences camping conditions year-round, with hot, humid summers and mild winters making this area popular with seasonal visitors. Many campgrounds remain open throughout the year, though reservations are strongly recommended during winter months when "snowbirds" flock to the region. "Very friendly folks working there! Many of the campsites are waterfront sites. Dolphins and manatee swim alongside your kayak," noted one visitor about a nearby park. Hurricane season (June through November) requires monitoring weather forecasts, as coastal campgrounds may close during severe weather events. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the area, though some waterfront locations may have spotty coverage. Most campgrounds in the Rockledge area feature paved or level sites suitable for large RVs, with limited primitive camping options available.

Waterfront camping receives consistently positive reviews, with campers highlighting opportunities to view wildlife and rocket launches from Cape Canaveral. A recent review mentioned, "You will get to feel and hear rocket launches from Cape Canaveral," highlighting a unique experience available to campers in this region. Manatee Hammock Campground in nearby Titusville offers views across the Indian River to Kennedy Space Center, while Jetty Park provides beach access and fishing opportunities from its pier. Campers should be aware that sites can be closely spaced at many of the commercial RV parks, with limited privacy between camping spots. For those seeking more natural surroundings, state parks within driving distance provide more secluded options with greater separation between sites and access to hiking trails, though these require advance planning as they fill quickly during peak seasons.

    Lake Kissimmee State Park Campground

    Laid back camping

Nice spot to just get away and relax. Lots of hiking trails and some wildlife. Deers all around even among the campsites. Some tours available close by for airboats. We will be back here again.

    Encore Sherwood Forest

    Tent camping spring trip

I booked this for a first time car camping with my 4 year old. The tent spots are ok just placed on corner spots with traffic. The spot I got was close to restroom with kids is a must if you don’t have other options. Front people were nice and tried to help. Got rained out of my check out time. Had to extend check out.

    Vero Beach Kamp

    Absolutely the worst choice

Watch out for these predators — they will charge for anything they can, they won’t give refunds for early departures even when it’s family medical emergencies, the staff is wildly rude in the front office (you’d think at least one person who worked there wouldn’t be a complete horror show of a human, but no such luck). And they hose down their bathrooms which is just plain gross. The sites are too close together, and even in summer (low season) they’re too stupid to put any space between guests.

If you can possibly stay anywhere else, do yourself a favor and keep away from this nightmare of a place.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake

    Horrible

Very rude lady at the front gate. Online it said they have primitive camping by the lake THERE'S EVEN A SIGN for it. She said they stopped doing that a long time ago. Soooo why does it still say it online and the sign still up. Now they closed the entire campground?? This campground really needs to get it's sh*t together. Get Better workers & management. The actual campground is fine.

    Jetty Park Campground

Quiet Midweek Stay, Helpful Staff, Rustic but Clean Facilities

We stayed here with a tent in mid-June, during the week. The campground was quiet, with about two-thirds of the sites unoccupied— a peaceful atmosphere overall. I originally booked site#30 based on the photos, which showed some tree cover. In reality, the site was mostly exposed, likely due to outdated imagery. Thankfully, the staff was understanding and allowed us to move to a shaded spot directly across the road. The full shade was much appreciated in the heat, though it made our solar panels essentially useless— and since rustic sites don’t include water or electricity, that did limit options. Restrooms and showers were clean, but completely unventilated and without air conditioning. In summer temperatures, that made things uncomfortable and is the main reason I’m deducting a star. Overall, it’s a quiet and well-kept campground. If you’re prepared for the rustic setup and come midweek, it’s a pleasant place to stay.

    Sebastian Inlet State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

The inlet has friendly, helpful rangers, easy to access campsites, and is in a beautiful location. Great for fishing, surfing, boating, and going to the beach. It’s Florida though, so bring bug spray for the no-see-ums and mosquitoes.

Guide to Rockledge

Camping sites near Rockledge, Florida primarily consist of RV parks and developed campgrounds along the central Atlantic coast. The subtropical climate creates year-round camping possibilities with summer temperatures averaging 90°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 50°F. Weather patterns affect campsite availability, particularly during hurricane season when coastal facilities may implement closure policies.

What to do

Space launch viewing: Find prime viewing spots at Manatee Hammock Campground where campers can watch rockets from across the Indian River. "We saw two rocket launches while here," reports one camper, highlighting this unique regional experience.

Fishing opportunities: Cast a line from waterfront sites at Jetty Park Campground which offers both ocean and inlet fishing access. A reviewer noted, "Great location, good sites. Easy access to restaurants/bars. Good beach biking, fishing, watching the cruise ships come and go."

Wildlife observation: Paddle alongside marine life in the waterways near camping areas. "Nice laundry room swimming pool and we watched the manatees and dolphins swim right by us on the real nice fishing dock," mentions a visitor to Manatee Hammock, describing the natural encounters possible in this region.

What campers like

Waterfront camping: Sites along the Indian River and Banana River provide scenic views and cooling breezes. At Manatee Cove Family Campground, "They have waterfront sites available. Amazing views watching the sun set in the evening. The view faces west. Ocean beaches are right outside of the gate."

Proximity to attractions: Many campgrounds serve as convenient bases for exploring regional points of interest. A camper at Encore Space Coast mentioned, "Approximately 30 minutes from Cocoa Beach, and Cape Canaveral...The park is clean, quiet, safe, and near attractions we love."

Winter accessibility: The Rockledge area attracts seasonal campers escaping colder climates. One review noted, "Nice campground if you want to travel around the Cocoa Beach area," explaining why many sites fill quickly between November and February.

What you should know

Site spacing considerations: Many RV parks in the area have limited separation between campsites. A visitor to Joy RV Park shared, "The sites were large however had a lot of ruts. The grounds were not very well manicured although there were people working to try to freshen up the place."

Reservation requirements: During winter months, demand exceeds capacity at most facilities. "Manatee Hammock...reservations are not accepted except for active duty personnel and you are encouraged to call ahead as sites are only available on a first-come, first-served basis especially during the months of November thru February."

Fire restrictions: Several campgrounds prohibit ground fires due to dry conditions. At Jetty Park, campers must bring elevated fire containers: "Downside is...no fires unless you bring your own fire pit and must be at least 6" off the ground."

Tips for camping with families

Shaded sites: Look for tree cover during hot months as temperatures regularly exceed 90°F. At Wickham Park Campground, "Nice wooded lots...nice change of scenery here on the Florida coast. Quite and Peaceful. Not a 'party' campground."

Activity options: Choose campgrounds with multiple recreation facilities for children. "We love camping here! It's very close to shops but it doesn't feel like it when you're in the campground...Disc golf, food trucks, farmers market, playground the list goes on!"

Pet amenities: Several campgrounds offer dedicated pet areas. A visitor mentioned, "It is so nice, right on the Indian river. There is a large fenced Dog Park on the riverfront," describing the pet-friendly facilities at Manatee Hammock.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Bring leveling blocks as many sites have uneven surfaces. "Gravel under the RV so not quite level," noted one RVer staying at Space Coast RV Resort.

Hookup configurations: Check specific electrical service available at each site. "The sites are nice by the ponds. Good spacing between them and clean looking," one camper wrote about Wickham Park, where both 30-amp and 50-amp services are available depending on the site.

Size limitations: Larger rigs may face challenges at some facilities. "Call the office, they'll let you know the better lots for the big rigs," advises a reviewer staying at Manatee Cove, where some sites can accommodate larger vehicles while others cannot.
