Best RV Parks & Resorts near Granby, CO

Several RV parks accommodate various camping needs around Granby. Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain provides full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections alongside amenities including a pool, hot tubs, and a restaurant. Grand Lake/Rocky Mountain National Park KOA Journey operates seasonally from May 15 to October 5 with big-rig friendly spaces and 50-amp electrical service. Red Mountain RV Park in nearby Kremmling offers multiple hookup options with boat-in access available for those traveling with watercraft. Stillwater Campground provides water and electric hookups for RVs in a lakeside setting with less privacy between sites. "Very nice RV spots are awesome. But also very crowded."

Navigation to some mountain RV parks requires careful planning due to elevation changes and winding roads. Most facilities offer sanitary dump stations, though seasonal closures affect availability during colder months when freezing temperatures can impact water systems. Cell service varies throughout the region with stronger connections typically available at larger resorts. Reservation requirements increase substantially during summer months and fall color season, with many parks booking completely on weekends. While pets are generally permitted at most locations, specific restrictions may apply at certain sites. Visitor reviews indicate that larger motorhomes should check road conditions carefully when traveling to higher elevation campgrounds near Granby, as some access roads feature steep grades and tight turns.

    Riverview RV Park & Campground

    Quick Stop close to Loveland

Campground is situated along the Big Thompson River. Big cottonwood trees. Easy accessibility for big rigs. Some items … water valves leak in lakes around entire park and many are leaking. No dog runs for pups, lots of places to walk though. There are long term “campers” at this park. Bathrooms were clean but dated.

    Denver West-Central City KOA

    Mountain High

Yes Mountain High!! 8100’ high. 7 miles off I-70 at Idaho Springs. 25 miles into outskirts of Denver. Don’t worry they have oxygen! Not kidding!!

Nice campground, friend staff, laundry, fun little gift shop with some food stuffs, beer and liquor. Pizza cooked there but we didn’t try it.

Our space was a big rig space on concrete pad with ample seating, a table, a fire pit, and a propane grill stove… use you own propane! Full hook ups. It was still reaching freezing at night and so we didn’t hook up our water.

    Beautiful KOA

Campground is located above Central City with great views. Amenities include full hookup sites both pull through and back-in. Store with everything a camper would need. Clean restrooms and showers. Playground and dog friendly. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Glacier Basin Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park

    Wonderful Stay

I have a 22’ travel trailer I pull behind an F150. Since this campground is inside Rocky Mountain National Park, the roads are all paved.

The campground sites are situated around one-way driving loops, which are quite narrow. Best to pay attention to which side of the loop your site is on so your trailer door doesn’t open up onto the road. I think they error on the side of caution when it comes to the size of trailer fitting into each spot. At least for mine. They said max 26’ (trailer + tow vehicle), but I’m closer to 32’ and I fit fine. That may not be true of all campsites though. There is parking very close by if your tow vehicle can’t squeeze into the site.

My site didn’t have a whole lot of trees, but they planted a bunch of small ones to try and fix this years from now. Sites were level and had lots of space. Each had a fire pit and picnic table.

There were no hookups and no cell service (Verizon). They did have trash drop offs, water for cleaning pans and dishes, and bathrooms. It was very quiet at night. Generators are allowed but only for a couple times a day during short windows.

Glacier Basin campground is just a few miles from the Bear Lake trailhead. It was very nice to stay inside the park. Vehicle passes to get into National Parks were still required when I stayed and the lines to get in were very long and slow.

    Flatiron Reservoir Campground

    Disappointed

We stayed at site F03 from June 8–14 (we left a day early) and were very disappointed in the condition of this campground.

We live full-time in our motorhome and have traveled extensively across the country. Sadly, this was one of the worst campsites we’ve stayed at. The grass was extremely overgrown, the bushes and trees were encroaching on the site, and the water spigot in our area was non-functional. The site itself was so steep that we had to pull in forward just to attempt leveling our Class A RV—completely unsuitable for big rigs.

Adding to that, this is not a full hookup site. You're paying over $50 per night (after the additional $10 vehicle charge) for electricity only, with the nearest dump station 7 miles away. That price is far too high for what’s offered, especially given the lack of maintenance.

To their credit, the park office was understanding and did refund two nights of our stay, which we appreciated. However, we left a day early and will not be returning.

Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort

    Beautiful View / Accessible Location

Good Sam discount CO RV Parks are all more on the expensive side, but Elk Meadow is on the lower end of those around them. Great access to the RMNP(5 mins max!), as well as to downtown. Beautiful views of Longs Peak! Nearest grocery is close(5 miles away). Elk occasionally pass thru the front area which was really cool! There is also a little area next to the RV park where I think they park stored vehicles and it's a great place to walk. It's dirt, but about the size of a track.

GUEST SERVICES= great customer service! Friendly staff anytime I went into the office; they shuffled around to accommodate out extended stay on the spot so we wouldn't have to relocate and could stay at our site the whole time we were in town. We appreciated that!

WIFI/ CELL SERVICE= provided, but not reliable. We used our AT&T hotspot the entire time bc we work remote. Cell service was 4 bars and worked fine in the entire campground.

LAUNDRY: Not the cleanest laundry room we've been too, but it worked. There was a soap and water station in the laundry I used to wipe down the inside of the washer(by the chlorox holder) before using. The trashcan always seemed to be overflowing with lent and trash, but again, clean enough.

SITE: Wide roads and turns; easy to navigate throughout the campground; quiet; picnic table; spacious, no shade, needed levels on one side of our RV; dirt roads throughout so, unless it rained, it was very dusty and so we didn't open our windows as much as we wanted with the fresh mountain air. When it rained and calmed down the dust, then it was perfect to open the windows.

East Portal Campground at Estes Park

    Clean, quiet and beautiful.

Family friendly campground at the end of a quiet road near RMNP. Quiet, no generators heard as big rigs won’t fit! Tents, vans, car camping and camper trailers fit well. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, friendly hosts, ice and fire wood for sale. Big playground and not crazy expensive.

    Gore Creek Campground

So good, I don’t want to tell you about it.

Gore Creek Campground is a true gem of the National Forest Service. If you are looking for a great boondocking location that is close to great trails and breathtaking views, this just might be the place for you. The entrance to the campground is ~2 miles off of I-70 Exit 180 on Bighorn Road. Only 10 minutes from Vail Village and 25 minutes from Frisco.

We stayed in Site #8, which provided plenty of room for our 22’ travel trailer and pickup. The sites each have a large picnic table and fire ring.

Pit toilets are spread through the campground and were very clean and well maintained. The campground hosts do a great job of keeping everything tidy and looking great. They also have bundles of firewood for sale for $7 at their site just inside the entrance to the campground.

I can’t say enough about this place. It’s probably my favorite spot to camp in Colorado. I almost didn’t post this review for fear of the secret getting out.

    Moraine Loop Campground

    Water front campsites are gorgeous

About 45 minutes from Grand Lake entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. 9 mile dirt road to get to the campground. Nice level sites each with picnic/tent area. Vault toilets were clean. No water fill, dump stations, showers or flush toilets. Hosts said the camp was packed from 4th July until Aug 20th

Guide to Granby

The Granby area offers camping locations between 7,900-8,400 feet elevation, situated near the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. RV accommodations are available year-round at some locations, though many close from October through May due to mountain weather conditions. Seasonal water restrictions apply when overnight temperatures drop below freezing.

What to do

**Fishing access: **Locations near Lake Granby provide opportunities for anglers. At Red Mountain RV Park in Kremmling, campers appreciate the "access to fishing on the Colorado River" and proximity to "Lake Granby and Willow Creek for some great fishing and also a pond on site for fishing as well."

Water recreation: Several campgrounds feature paddling opportunities. Visitors at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain enjoy the "lake for paddle boarding" and note the resort has "kayak rentals" available on-site.

Hiking trails: Many campgrounds connect to local trail systems. Campers at Clear Creek RV Park mention "lots of paths and locals parks to adventure around" and appreciate that the "bike bath and creek are nice."

What campers like

Entertainment amenities: Some larger RV parks offer extensive on-site activities. At Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain, campers report it "has everything! Bowling, an amazing pool and hot tubs, super clean facilities" and mention "arcade, restaurant, mini bowling alley (free), playground, dog parks, pool, hiking trails both paved and unpaved."

Wildlife viewing: Many campgrounds offer opportunities to see local animals. At Grand Lake / Rocky Mountain National Park KOA Journey, visitors report "we had moose everywhere here" while others mention that "mule deer met us when we arrived."

River proximity: Riverside sites are highly valued for their ambiance. At Paradise on the River, campers note that "each site has a deck over the river" and appreciate that the park "sits directly beside the Big Thompson River."

What you should know

Site spacing: The proximity between camping spots varies significantly between parks. At Spruce Lake RV Park, campers note that "spaces are VERY close to each other" and "sites are on top of each with no privacy."

Reservation requirements: Advance booking is essential during peak seasons. One campground reports they're "staying open during the 2021 winter season for the first time," indicating changing availability patterns across the region.

Limited laundry facilities: Some campgrounds have minimal washing machine access. Campers report that at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain, "there's only 2 washer/dryer laundromats, with a total of 10 washers. For a campground of this size, there needs to be more. We had to wait 30 minutes the two times we did laundry."

Tips for camping with families

Activity variety: Parks with multiple recreation options reduce the need to leave the campground. One family at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain shares "the kids will be entertained here, and it's a short drive to Rocky Mountain National park" while another mentions "the kids enjoyed activities - popsicle eating contest, t-shirt tie dye, and donut decorating."

Budget considerations: Larger resort-style rv parks near Granby, Colorado typically charge premium rates. A visitor notes "if you like a budget campground, this isn't the place. You are paying for all the amenities and the price tag reflects it."

Pool options: Swimming facilities vary between parks. Idaho Springs RV Resort & Campground visitors appreciate that "facilities are clean and the showers are nice and large with plenty of room to shower and get dressed," while other campgrounds feature more extensive aquatic options.

Tips from RVers

Site levelness: Parking surfaces vary in quality between campgrounds. At Manor RV Park, campers report "spaces are a bit tight—with sewer running into your neighbors sites. Sewer is placed poorly (uphill and far away from sewer tanks)" and "site not level."

Hookup placement: Utility connections aren't standardized across parks. One RVer noted "water, electricity and sewer is at each site" but "the water pressure could be a lot better."

Cell connectivity: Internet access varies by location and provider. A camper reports "WiFi is pretty darn good" while another notes "ATT & Verizon phone service" are available at their campground, allowing for reliable connections.
