"It's Colorado. High and cold come with the territory. There is a fire pit at each site, and a covered picnic table."

"Great camping spot just south of Colorado Springs."
Great little campground in Great Sand Dunes NP. Very nice and clean flushing toilets. Campsites are a little small but the views and incredible. No showers.
Approx 15 or so dispersed camp sites along the forest road up to the parking lot for Willow Lake trail. Easy access to sites, easy access to trail head. Restrooms also available at trailhead.
We camped here a few times. The spot closest to the mining town has been my favorite so far! It is in a canyon so you won't have any cell phone signal, though I had my Starlink set up and it worked flawlessly.
We will go back, and I hope to get that spot before any other!
It is a bumpy road, but we had an F150 and a Santa Fe, that both made it in fine, though some spots are walking only.
The history is awesome, the drive is beautiful, and there is a creek that runs along close by at every site.
The gate is not locked, just open it and you've got some great campsites in BLM land!
Convenient location about 25 minutes from Great Sand Dunes NP. Several large sites at lower elevation, flat and large enough for an RV or two. Road is graded through the lower portion. As you get higher, the road gets rockier and narrower with some washouts. If you don’t have high clearance scout it out before attempting. Lower sites are very open but decent space between locations. The higher you go the better the sites with some piñon and good spacing. Would definitely return.
The views, the cleanliness, the people, OHV's, and the calm all 5 stars 🌟 The lack of overnight is what made this 4stars
Pulled in late to this quiet tidy little campground. It was very quiet and well kept. A very easy place to make a reservation and stay last minute!
We were lucky enough to arrive here during moth season and I'm talking hundreds of thousands of moths (I think they were Millers moths). No matter what we did, we had moths all over the place.
Anyway, the park was really nice, the people friendly, the walks were cool.
I wish I took some pictures.
There are FF and reservation sites available. If you plan to pay on site be sure to have a tap to pay Credit card, there is no drop box only a CC machine. Plenty of reservation sites for rigs and maybe 4 FF sites that can fit a trailer. No water or trash though, little pricey for 20$
