Best RV Parks & Resorts near Beulah, CO

Several RV parks near Beulah, Colorado accommodate various camping needs. Haggards RV Campground in Pueblo West provides year-round access with electric, sewer, and water hookups suitable for larger vehicles. The Colorado Springs KOA offers full-service RV sites with 50-amp electrical connections and pull-through access for easier parking. "The sites were large and plenty of room for my slideout and not too close to next site," noted one visitor about Haggards. Royal Gorge RV Resort & Cabins features 125 sites with full hookups, accommodating big rigs with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service options. Most parks maintain gravel or concrete pads that support larger motorhomes and fifth wheels.

RV travelers should prepare for variable amenities across campgrounds. Between May and October, Mountain View RV Resort provides 41 sites with water, sewer, and electric hookups, though reviews mention that some locations have rustic facilities. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with reviewers noting that Verizon typically offers the most reliable coverage. Dump stations are available at most locations, but a few parks charge additional fees for this service. Many RV parks accommodate pets with designated dog areas—Haggards features what one visitor described as a "HUGE fenced dog park." Elevation changes on access roads may challenge larger vehicles, particularly when approaching campgrounds in mountainous terrain west of Pueblo.

Cripple Creek Hospitality House & RV Park

Best rv park in Tellar County

Have spent summer 2021 here.  A few blocks from all the casinos (they all run shuttles).

Great staff, owners on site daily.  There is a food truck (Doc's) with GREAT food, permanently on site. Laundry on site, Shower & bathrooms.
The Cripple Creek Burros (free range about town) are here often. NOTE: the burros like our hummingbird feeders!
Open year round (limited rv sites open through winter)
Hotel on property was once the Cripple Creek Hospital and is "period restored."

I've spent seven summers in Colorado in my rv, Hospitality House and RV Park has been one of the best summers we've had.

32' 5th wheel, 50 amp. Reasonable long term rate.

Piñon Campground — Lathrop State Park

Lathrop State Park has a little of everything

We have visited this park several times, in the summer, spring and fall. The campground provides a nice visitors center, two small lakes (one non-wake), a sand beach, paved and unpaved bike trails, fishing, a kids fishing pond, trails, and electric or no-hook-up camping. The campground is divided into three loops with each loop containing flush toilets and shower facilities. A tent-only campground is situated closer to the highway, while the three loops are far from the road and provide ample star-gazing experiences. Favorite spots include 102 (has a great view of the Spanish Peaks), and site 84 (private pull-through with junipers and other short trees to block the road/other campers). I have attended several ranger programs here and hiked on all trails. Playing on the beach and picnicking is enhanced by the water stations to wash off the sand, benches, picnic tables, and shade trees. Kayaking on the no-wake lake is peaceful and fishing is abundant. Bike riding is simple and mostly flat. A fully paved trail circles the lake and is accessible by the campgrounds. A public, 9-hole golf course sits directly next to the park. The course is inexpensive and fun for an afternoon or morning. If you've exhausted all your options at the park itself, head one hour away to the Great Sand Dunes National Park to "surf" on the dunes and learn about this beautiful area. This park truly has a little of everything and while it is one of the oldest state parks in Colorado, it is well-maintained and enjoyable year-round.

    Aspen Acres Campground

    Well maintained & staffed

This was a delightful experience for us. There are sites for every type of camper: tent, trailer, RV, glamping and cabins. This is a somewhat small but well maintained private campground with lots of simple amenities. All is the wooded back-in sites have full hook-ups (30A) and there are pull-thru sites (Ithink they are still 30A). The center wooded area is perfect for tents. A small dog park gave our girls the chance to run free for a little. There is a shower house with bathrooms that are well maintained. Trash is kept tidy and didn’t smell even on the 97 degree day. Very easy to access but no road noise (at least not at our site).

We have a 26’ trailer and stayed in site 18. It was near the end of the row and relatively quiet. We only wish we had a longer power cable. (Our next purchase!) Our port is at the back and the outlet was way up front. To reach, we had to set up near the front of the site which limited our parking. Just pointing that out for others who might be ill prepared too.

We were too far away to take advantage of WiFi which is fine, we just wandered up near the office to check our texts once daily. It might be more accessible if you are located closer to the office. No cell service for Verizon. Personally, I was happy to be unplugged for a couple of days!

Although we had a fire ban in effect, we were able to rent a propane fire pit from the office. Be super cautious and check fire restrictions for Custer County. (http://oem.custercountygov.com/firecon.htm)

Aspen Acres has a lot more staff than I expected and they patrolled frequently. Very helpful and friendly.

5 minutes from Bishops Castle and 10 minutes from Lake Isabel ($7 day use fee). Easy drive up from I-25 but fairly steep in spots if that is problematic.

    We will stay again!

Piñon Campground — Lathrop State Park

    Views for Miles

We stayed here the first week o f November 2020. Not all sites were open and the park was not crowded at all. The bathrooms were open and the weather was beautiful. The sites are all pull through and private. We had lots of space behind us to stretch out in. A picnic table was also placed in a space where shade would be provided on a concrete slab. Electric and water at the site and a dump station at the exit.

    Mosca Campground

    Nicely planned campground

Mosca was located inside the San Juan Wildlife Refuge, close to Sand Dunes National Park. Loop A has power, loop B was closed for the season, all covered picnic tables to protect from prevailing wind and sunlight in the summer, fire rings, basketball court and toilets with handicap accessibility available. Loop C was open. Dumpsters and dump station available. 2 bars of T-Mobile with LTE

Guide to Beulah

Camping sites near Beulah, Colorado sit at elevations ranging from 5,000 to 7,500 feet, creating distinct temperature patterns with warm days and cool nights even in summer months. The Arkansas River corridor provides water access at several RV campgrounds in the region, while the surrounding mountains offer additional recreational opportunities. Cell reception varies dramatically between valleys and higher elevation sites.

What to do

Fishing access points: Bighorn Park offers riverside camping with direct Arkansas River access. "Spot by the river for fishing and or sitting. A bench to have a cup of coffee and watch the river," notes one visitor to Bighorn Park.

Wildlife viewing: The region hosts diverse wildlife including bighorn sheep. "We spotted big horn sheep on the cliff behind us!" reports a camper at Bighorn Park. At Mountaindale Cabin & RV Resort, "Each afternoon the park was visited by multiple deer and turkey."

Star viewing opportunities: Limited light pollution creates exceptional stargazing conditions. "No city lights meant for a lovely starry evening," writes one camper at Aspen Acres Campground. The campground's higher elevation in San Isabel National Forest enhances night sky clarity.

What campers like

Private bathroom facilities: Several campgrounds feature individual bathroom units rather than communal facilities. "The bathhouse is extremely clean, with several private bathroom/shower rooms," notes a visitor at Mountaindale Cabin & RV Resort.

Pet amenities: Designated dog areas enhance stays for pet owners. "There's a seasonal pool, walking trails and a HUGE fenced dog park," mentions a camper at Haggards RV Campground. At Circle the Wagons RV Park, pets are welcome but visitors note local dogs sometimes "cross the creek and come into the RV Park."

Quiet settings: Mountaindale offers noise separation from major highways. "This is a lovely park about 30 minutes south of Colorado Springs. We camped here for 5 nights in a back in spot with full hookups, site 51. The site was extremely spacious with room to park our truck to the side and still have a big yard."

What you should know

Water quality concerns: Some campgrounds have water system limitations. At Haggards RV Campground, one camper advises: "Water system needs work; well water has rust and sediment, be prepared!" Another campground with reported water issues is Aspen Acres, where a visitor stated: "All fine for a night except we filled our tank with the most disgusting undrinkable water imaginable."

Road conditions: Access roads to campgrounds may present challenges. At Circle the Wagons RV Park, GPS navigation issues exist: "GPS won't get you here because 2nd Street is bisected by a creek with no bridge. I had to back my trailer a couple of blocks."

Reservation considerations: Last-minute changes may encounter strict policies. A potential visitor to Mountaindale noted: "My breakdown happened on a Tuesday and my reservation was for the following Sunday. I emailed Mountaindale the rv shop name and phone number where the rv was for verification."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Several RV parks near Beulah offer dedicated children's areas. "They have a water slide and other fun activities," reports a visitor to Colorado Springs KOA. The facility includes a bounce pad and seasonal pool.

Cabin options: For families without tents or RVs, cabin rentals provide alternative accommodations. "Me along with four other friends spent several days tent camping around the Colorado Springs area. On our last night of travel, our camping plans fell through and we needed to find a convenient place late at night to rest. We ended up at the KOA and took advantage of one of their adorable little cabins."

Game facilities: Some campgrounds feature recreation rooms for indoor entertainment. The Royal Gorge RV Resort & Cabins offers common areas with activities, while Circle the Wagons RV Park has "a game room and a fun book exchange for guests."

Tips from RVers

Connectivity considerations: Cell service and WiFi access vary significantly between campgrounds. "Data: T-mobile 5G: lacking, ATT: not so hot, Verizon: great, Visible: pretty good, Cricket: ok for voice," reports a visitor to Haggards RV Campground.

Site selection strategy: Location within a campground impacts experience. At Bighorn Park, a visitor recommends: "We have an Outlaw toy hauler so we're so lucky to get a back-in spot overlooking the river. Slept with the back open and fell asleep to the river sounds." While at Mountaindale, a visitor warns about road noise: "It is very important to get a spot away from the road. As I've read in other reviews, there is a rock quarry just down the road."

Electrical access: RVers should verify power capabilities match their needs. "Royal Gorge RV Resort & Cabins features 125 sites with full hookups, accommodating big rigs with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service options," while Circle the Wagons RV Park reports having electrical hookups but doesn't specify amperage capacity.
