Pleasant setting with some noise from the shooting range

I liked the trees, picnic tables, and fire rings at the sites. The sites were spaced nicely to allow for privacy. Frog Flat seemed a bit more secluded than the main camp. There was no water running at the site when I stayed there, but vault toilets were available. There is a nearby shooting range…

It's so quiet

We stayed at one of the hike into camp sites. The hike in isn't very far at all but it's separated with from the other campers that it creates a peaceful and private environment. There is a specific campsite that you can really hike into, that one is a 3 mile hike and you have to call ahead to…

Friday night in August

We arrived at around 7pm. The park is very well maintained. Super clean. Nice bathrooms.

Peaceful with nice shade. Bring insect countermeasures.

Lived in this area almost my whole life and never knew about this campground. Did a little recon prior to booking our trip and decided on site #39, as we were only staying for 3 nights and did not need any sun for solar for that short of a stay. Tons of shade with the sites along the south side of…

Craggy Meadow Urban Hideout

Let's just call a spade a spade here, alright? This campground isn't going to be one that you look back and fondly recollect a surreal experience in the middle of nature with all of the rustic touches one might come to expect when camping in NorCal. And while the Redwoods and Sequoias will steal…

Fantastic

Got here on a Sunday night, and even though online they were full, they only had a dozen campers. At least 70 spots here, nice tent areas. Dispersed and lots of views. Bathrooms were ok, showers hot, but they were spread out. No generators allowed. Actually allowed pit fires, which surprised us…

Nice

Basically an upper parking lot for rv’s that are really close together and on pavement. Showers were good and hot but not really clean. Very quiet place midweek. Gate closes at 8pm though, so get here earlier.

Campground Cul-de-Sac

This site is a nice hidden gem that many won't know even has a campground. While tiny and available only for a small number of campers, if you can get a spot booked well in advance, you'll have the place nearly all to yourself. Located just off of 680, you'll take Bollinger Canyon Road where you'll…

  • From the parking lot, it's a short 1 minute walk to this gate, past which, you'll hike to the campground (5-7 minutes)
  • Glorious skies here in this most remote part of Eastbay
  • A return view back to the shaded parking lot (note: you won't be able to drive your vehicle to the campsite!)

The Devil's Playground

Throughout the Eastbay, you won't find a more instantly recognizable location from such incredible distances as Mount Diablo. While the shoulders of this giant mountain are broad and sloping, don't be fooled, the plethora of hiking trails can be quite difficult and steep in some places. Mount…

  • Me little lasses playing around Rock City, just a short hike from the campsite
  • Look out for tarantulas in the dark holes!

Clean, but close camping.

We got a same day reservation, thankfully, because it was impossible to reserve anywhere in the area. We just wanted to car camp overnight to test drive our gear before a longer road trip. We got placed into site 6, which happened to be a handicapped accessible spot. It was level (perfect for our…

Great place for boaters

Sugar barge is right on the delta. They have a boat trailer parking lot and a boat ramp. The rv spots are very close together. The bathrooms have been recently remodeled and are very nice. They rent kyacks and have a restaurant that looks right over the water.
