Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Herald, CA

Perfect for what it is which is a basic parking lot RV park. The amenities are pretty great, lovely pool, petting zoo and my favorite the fenced dog park. Oh and they have a dog wash with leash clip!!! So many parks miss the opportunity for dog friendly features. They have the cleanest bathrooms i have ever experienced at an RV park.

My only disappointment was the wifi connection specifically in communal spaces close to the office where it makes sense to have strong connection. Their rec room would be a perfect place to hey some work done if only the wifi was powerful enough. Since i was working on the road I was specifically in need of this amenity. I heard certain RV spots had great reception but unfortunately not ours.

I love this place because it is about 45 minutes from the house.  There's plenty to do with lots of great sites.  The first time we went, they didn't have any annual passes because they lady was out that day. But the other day, we were able to finally get a season pass.  You can fish, hike, or swim here. The campsites are spacious and you don't feel over crowded if there is a family next to you. It's pet friendly. The store was recently redone and they offer a wide variety of items, from keep sakes to any necessity you may have forgotten ( lighter, logs, clothes shoes, etc... )  There also boat rental that are a fair price, plus you get them for an hour or so. ( You will have to check the prices and availability. ) There's a dog park for the dogs to roam free off the leash, which also has access to water/ beach area for the dogs only.

We love how clean it is, and the staff is friendly. The surrounding areas are woodsy and our dogs love the dog park!

We stayed here on our first foray into van camping. We were so surprised how clean the restrooms were. So far its been the best we’ve seen. My dog loved the off leash dog park. I waited until there was no one around because she’s a little skittish. Would recommend!

We have everything we need here; FHU, laundry, clean showers and bathrooms, great dog park, friendly staff. They pick up trash. Sites are pull- through, gravel and fairly level. Sites are close, but it wasn’t too crowded while we were here.

This was truly a gem to find after leaving Lake Tahoe early to avoid the incoming storm. We’d planned to only stopover one night but extended our stay. It was clean, had friendly staff, and a wonderful dog park. We will be back.

Took a last minute reservation. Call even if online says booked. Hot showers, great laundry facility, fenced dog park. I needed to recharge my camper van and relax from a couple weeks of city vanlife. Felt tucked away but close to every store you could want.

The host was very nice. When we got there we could not find the black water hookup. He came out and helped us get all connected. Most lots are used by permanent residents. I did not see any children. Very clean and was very pet friendly. All of the folks were very friendly and most had their own dogs. I am not sure I would come back, I am new to RVing and I think I need muck more to experience before I would go back to the same place twice. I am looking for parks closer to wineries as well.

Stayed on large grass site next to the water. Very nice. Few amenities and staff was scarce but more than adequate. Lots of room to roam for people & pets.

Very nice large sites with large grass areas pet friendly, amazing helpful and friendly staff. My only complaint is no Wi-Fi. Other than that I would recommend this park. The road in is very bumpy, so take your time.

There’s really no where else to camp in this area that is convenient to the freeway. We walked in with no reservation and got a pull through spot with a bit of grass. Full hookups, no fire pits, but picnic tables at each spot. Pool, pet park, bathrooms, and free showers. Quiet park but nobody was outside cause it was 102!! We relaxed in the trailer with a/c until it cooled off to the low 90’s which was at about 8pm. Good for one night as you’re traveling through though.

The staff was most accommodating for my family. My family and I were headed to Sacramento but our plans fell through and we needed a place to stay. The ladies here were so helpful and kind. They were able to accommodate us last minute and we stayed for a week. It is a beautiful campground. We enjoyed walking around with our pets and getting ice cream. The only annoyance was loud music past curfew, but it was only on the weekend. I think you’ll get inconsiderate campers like that anywhere. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and plan to visit again.

Stinking flea infested cats roams the property, while infecting your rig with fleas from cats making make shifts homes under your rig. The property is dirty, bug infested, unsecured, fake man made mud hole of a so-called lake. The gall of them to call this place a"Resort" is definitely appalling. The staff tends to lean more on the racist side by having different sets of rules for the African American patrons. I definitely feel sorry for the African American lady that works in the front office having to endure the racial elements from management( the 2 greasy fried chicken eating cows) as well as her co-workers. The front office staff are convinced that piece of dirty crap of a mud hole are some type of relaxing place for families, NOT. That place needs to be torn down. Lake Minden is a dirty drug infested, bug infested, stinking cat infected, trailer trash, of a melting pot for dirty drug addicts, STAFF INCLUDED. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CRAP HOLE TO ANYONE.(DON'T EAT THE🐠)

We stayed here in January 2024 and got a Passport America discount. Traveling south on US-101, then US-12 east, our RV GPS took us right to this campground(CG). Check-in was quick and easy, and we proceeded unescorted to pull through site 32 with FHUs. The cement pad was plenty long enough for our 40’ fifth wheel and unhooked F450. The utilities are on the back quarter of the pad. We needed 15’ of sewer hose. The water pressure was okay at about 40 psi. We got 4 bars on Verizon. They have Wifi and you can upgrade for a price to streaming quality. The CG has a small convenience store that sells ice and propane plus wine. This CG is mainly a short-term stay place but there are what seem to be permanent parties plus transient workers with site areas clean and organized. There are a lot of feral cats in this CG. They have a huge fenced dog area in the drainage bowl behind the office that also has solar panels on the outskirts. We did not use the area due to the recent rain. We wished we’d spent a few more days to explore the area, especially the wineries.

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 61, a“Premium” Pull-through site, for 3 days in early October, while visiting family in the area. This is probably the most critical review of a CG that we have posted in the 2 years we’ve be full-timing and for$76/night(with discount), I would expect much, much more from a CG. The staff at checkin were very friendly, but we didn’t see anyone patrolling the CG while we were there. It was fairly quiet when we arrived during the week, but got a little raucous on the weekend and I-505 road noise is fairly noticeable at night. The CG is“clean” and otherwise quiet, but showing its age a bit. The two pools looked pretty decent, but we didn’t use them. All of the sites are fairly short and very close. Bigger rig tow vehicles either extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, although the roads are fairly wide throughout. The CG consists mostly permanent/semi-permanent residences. Most of those sites are are all gravel. There appeared to only be a few transient spaces, maybe 12-15, which were also short, but with grass, tables and foliage between sites. There are no green spaces to walk your dog. Everything that isn’t paved or graveled is basically bare dirt or tall, dead weeds, except the playground and one other area, and neither of those areas allow dogs. You are pretty much relegated to walking the CG roads or using the“off-leash” area, which is a fenced in treed area but is also just bare dirt and clearly not everyone cleans up after their dogs. They have signs for a Pet Walk, but this is just a very short walk on more dirt. The ponds on the map are fenced off and are either muddy brown or algae green pits with fountains- not very aesthetically appealing. AT&T coverage was just ok, with 2 bars of LTE and speeds up to 0.8 MB/s. The CG WiFi through TengoInternet.com is bit wanky, only allowing 3 connected devices and requiring a Browser to connect, so devices without one(Apple TV, WiFi router, etc.) are out of luck. Their website had a link to a page that was supposed to tell you how to connect them, but resulted in a 404 page not found error. We saw speeds up to 1 MB/s., but much less when everyone is online. Disconnecting WiFi and reconnecting seemed to help some. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 35 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna. We would not stay here again.

Many sites, good water access, but not a lot of shade or flat ground for tents. Affordable. Not the prettiest scenery in California, but a cheap and reliable way to get some quick nature. Allows dogs.

Snug harbour sits on Steamboat Slough of the California delta. It is a small island that has pretty calm water around it. It is under new management (2022). They were gracious and helpful. Bathroom were clean. (I am a bathroom snob). Extremely dog friendly. Tent camping is allowed. Back in RV SITES back right up to the river, with their own dock. There are also cabins and two manufactured homes. A cute beach sits at the end of the island. There was plenty to do if you enjoy boating or fishing. Looking forward to going back.
