Camped three nights in the south campground in a tent. Coin operated showers and indoor plumbing in the bathrooms was nice. Had the feel of camping in a national park (near coffee but still in nature, near world class vistas). 4 stars because a nearby hiking trail was closed, there was very little sun to get through canopy so kinda chilly during the day, and I had to book it six months out.
Not much privacy for tent camping. Fog horn goes continuously. Good hwy 1 access. Affordable. Walking distance to awesome beach.
This is a regional Park, so one has less competition when booking a site compared to state and national parks in California--a huge perk. It's on a beautiful part of water, but is a bit muddy during spring. Indoor plumbing bathroom. Windy bc it's on a point. Affordable. Dogs allowed.
Many sites, good water access, but not a lot of shade or flat ground for tents. Affordable. Not the prettiest scenery in California, but a cheap and reliable way to get some quick nature. Allows dogs.
