Best Campgrounds near Meadview, AZ

Meadview, Arizona serves as a gateway to diverse camping opportunities along the Arizona side of Lake Mead and near Grand Canyon West. The area features established campgrounds like Happy Trails Campground and Meadview RV Park that accommodate tents, RVs, and cabins with full hookups. Dispersed camping options exist on public lands, including Pierce Ferry Road dispersed sites within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. These areas provide varying levels of amenities and isolation, from primitive sites with no facilities to developed campgrounds with showers, electric hookups, and water access.

Road conditions and seasonal considerations affect camping experiences throughout the region. Many access routes require driving on unpaved roads that can become difficult during wet weather. "This site has a great view with at least a few established camping spots with fire pits already built. The road up to it is short, but it is very rocky," noted one visitor about Pierce Ferry Road camping. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F, making spring and fall the most comfortable seasons for camping. The extreme heat and remote location necessitate careful preparation—the nearest major supplies and amenities are approximately one hour away in Kingman, requiring campers to arrive well-stocked with water, fuel, and provisions.

Proximity to natural attractions represents a significant draw for campers in the Meadview area. The Grand Wash Cliffs provide dramatic sunset views from many campsites, while Lake Mead access points allow for water recreation despite historically low water levels. According to feedback on The Dyrt, "Beautiful views and very peaceful. Excellent for star gazing!" Several visitors emphasized the night sky visibility as a highlight, with minimal light pollution creating exceptional stargazing conditions. The nearby Grand Canyon West on Hualapai tribal land (approximately 35-45 minutes away) features the famous Skywalk glass bridge and provides a less crowded alternative to the South Rim. Wildlife viewing opportunities include wild burros and desert fauna, while the surrounding Joshua tree forests create a distinctive desert landscape that attracts photographers and nature enthusiasts.

Arch Rock Campground — Valley of Fire State Park

    Another world..

My daughter and I are from Eastern Washington/North Idaho area (The Inland Northwest) so we had never really experienced a “real desert climate” before our trip. This was our first stop, and not knowing this area or what to expect, I booked a spot at Arches Campground. This place was really beautiful, and so different than anything I’ve ever seen. The campground is located in the Park, around the “main event” so our campsite was back up to the amazing red rocks that people come here to experience. There was also a covered picnic table and one of those iron BBQ’s that you find in public parks, and there was a water Spicket at the site.

There were also a couple of outhouses a short walk from the campsite. We loved exploring the park, and looking in the “caves”. The stars were so bright at night and we enjoyed taking photos of them the best we could. The park ranger was also very nice. I would recommend camping here because it is beautiful, quiet, and so unique and if someone needs a place that you know will have a space ready for your large vehicle/ camper and primitive amenities.

Stewart’s Point Dispersed Camping — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

    Amazing views

We pulled in at night- which was a mistake on our end. It’s hard to navigate in the dark. But it was worth it because we woke up to the most amazing view of lake mead. I took a morning hike down to the water and found veins of selenite and quartz! Family friendly spot with plenty of space for each rig to spread out

    Windy Point Campground

    Beautiful campground BEWARE of road

One of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed. We came in on the 9 mile route and came down on the 11 mile road. Both roads required AWD/high clearance. I’m When we came down (Oct 2025) the 11 mile route also required off road tires and lots of skill. A storm blew through a couple of weeks prior and did some damage. Pretty sure BLM would have had the gate closed if the govt wasn’t shut down.

Cottonwood Cove Campground — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Great for access to lake Mohave

Beware you also need to pay entry to Lake Meade recreational area. View from campsite itself isn’t great, mostly gravel hills, but the campground is a short walk from the lovely lake Mohave. Campground has clean, flush toilets. Some issues with rusty/dirty drinking water taps and animal faeces in some of the pitches. Overall fairly basic for the cost

    Chloride Western R.V. Park

    5+ stars

This place is great! It is super clean and the spots are big and level. Mike and Lori the owners are very friendly and really love having guest. They have some full time RVers but everyone here is polite and the park is very quiet. The laundry and bathroom facilities are clean and available 24 hours. The town of Chloride is rich with mining history and the locals are very friendly. We did a lot of ATV riding while here. Lots of rain recently made a couple roads a little scary but we went far enough to see some old mines. This is definitely a great spot to stop for a night or more, and at only $45 for full hook ups and WiFi worth the stop! We didn’t have any cell service but it wasn’t a problem since we didn’t have the WiFi

    W Big Wash Road Dispersed

    Not for a big rig

With all the resent rain the 2nd spot to camp the road has washed out a bit….very uneven ground. We decided to head back toward the highway to see if the spot closer to the road would be better

Kingman Wash — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

    Good views

Rough road getting in, but I managed it in my 2020 ford transit extended length. Keep it under 10mph and was able to get in. There are a few sections with heavy bumps ripples and potholes on hills that take care navigating. Not likely to come back now that Ive been once. Worth the trip, not the repeat
