Best RV Parks & Resorts near Sherwood, WI

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

RV parks near Sherwood accommodate various sized motorhomes with multiple hookup options. Hickory Oaks Campground offers level RV sites with 30 and 50 amp electrical connections, operating from May through November. Plymouth Rock Camping Resort provides full hookup sites including water, sewer, and electric, though "the sites are ok but literally over a mile of tight, windy road to get to them," according to one visitor. Osh Vegas Palms RV Resort features 51 sites with 30 and 50 amp service and remains open year-round. The Westward Ho RV Resort includes pull-through sites with sewer and water hookups, suited for larger recreational vehicles.

Most RV campgrounds in the area have gravel pads rather than concrete, with varying degrees of shade and privacy between sites. Dump stations are available at most locations, though not all parks offer sewer hookups directly at sites. Omro RV Park provides affordable electric-only sites at $15-25 per night with a central dump station and fresh water access. Several parks allow pets but have restrictions on generators and campfires. Seasonal operations vary significantly, with many parks closing from late October through mid-April. Water hookups are typically winterized during colder months, even at year-round facilities, requiring self-contained systems for winter camping.

Kettle Moraine State Forest Long Lake Campground

    this is a BIG campground

We had been to this area three years earlier, and stayed at Mauthe lake. That suited us better because it is motorboat free, and we have a canoe. Long lake is more suited for powerboats. the sites are also large and would handle big rigs. There are six different campground loops, none near the lake (though the 700 loop has a trail to the boat launch). We stayed in the lower 900 loop, the smallest. Our site, 906, was about 30 feet from site 730. all the sites in this loop are large and deep with the exceptions of 908,910, 912 which are right up against the road and have no privacy. sites 713 & 705 run into each other and are the best for a large group and a pull-through if you get them together.
Pit toilets only. Fire rings are decent. Wood is available 24/7 through a huge "vending machine" that costs $6 (a five and a one, no change) Wood from the shed costs a dollar less, but only when the ranger is at the front gate.
There's a beach with a concession stand and a separate boat ramp with parking.
We went canoeing at the very small nearby Silver lake and had it all to ourselves.
Sad news is that the Parkside general store, with it's ice cream and home-made maple candies is out of business. Zahn's trading post is temporarily closed, and the Woodland Creek Supper club (both in New Prospect) was undergoing renovation when we were there, a shame as we loved it last time.

    Brown County Reforestation Campground

    Big rig friendly

Great place to stay! Big rig friendly! Gravel pads and each site comes with a picnic table and fire pit. Bathrooms in the campground were clean and I believe there were showers.

    Kohler-Andrae State Park

    Kohler-Andre

Living rather close to this park, this is our "go-to" place to camp. It has a great variety of activities available. There is a beach AND a dog beach so it's pet-friendly. Dogs are not allowed on all of the trails, but there are many you can take them on. Being on the water, you can swim, kayak, fish, or just soak up some rays! There are also non-reservable sites available. There are many electric sites, clean bath houses, friendly campground hosts, some rather private sites as well. It's a short walk from the campsites to the lake. Our favorite site is next to the woods where we have seen ample deer, turkey, foxes, and birds. Close to town if you need supplies, firewood and ice is available in the park.

    Mapleview Campground

Joyce and Stan make this place an Oasis

What a great little spot to visit. They have many sites in the field or in the woods. Most with electric 30/50 amp and a beautiful lake with many family friendly things to do. The people are friendly and they have clean showers and bathrooms along with laundry.

    High Cliff State Park Campground

    Escarpment

Grew up near here and used to backpack across Lake Winnebago to winter camp and hike in January when the park was empty and no mosquitos to chew on my butt.

Indian Burial Mounds, old kilns, trails, hills, observation deck, sledding in winter, and lots of other things to do all year round.

This Park is actually on an escarpment that winds around Lake Michigan all the way to Niagara Falls. Limestone cliffs for climbing on, scenic.

in the summer the lake gets green with algae and there is a summer stretch wherever the lake flies hatch and get thick.

Good park for families. Close to small towns for resupply. Appleton & Green Bay are within striking distance as is Lake Michigan.

Bring arctic survival gear in January...subzero temps with wind chills in the negative teens is normal. Fantastic cross country skiing/snowshoeing.

    Waupun Park Campground

Waupun County Park WI - Campground

Family friendly campground, playgrounds, pickle ball court, showers, clean bathrooms, fire rings, shared water spigots & power at camp site. There is an outdoor pavilion for groups, firewood for sale at host. Lamp posts light camp road but not overwhelming. Nice shaded sites with mature white oak trees. Enjoyed and recommend if looking for full service campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Farms

    Convenient to the highway

General: There is both a north and a south part to this campground with a total of 178 sites. The sites in the south part are all on a grassy field and there is a small man-made lake with an inflatable play area. The sites in the north part are a mix of full hook-up and tent sites. There are also small cabins (only one of which has a bathroom) and three “condos”. These all had air-conditioners, but I did not see the inside of them. The north unit features a pond, which I was disappointed to discover was algae-filled and completely green.

Site Quality: Some are pull-through and some back-in. Some sites have electric and water hookups, some have picnic tables, and some have fire rings (but not all sites have all of these amenities). Only a handful have concrete pads; the rest are all on grass.

Our impression of Sleepy Hollow was influenced in part by the fact that it poured rain for much of our overnight stay. The roads were all dirt and with the rain, became very muddy along with the campsites as well. When leaving the next day, we had some challenges backing out of our site with the amount of mud. There is no clear delineation between the sites other than where the electric and water hookups are placed.

Bathhouse: Was very clean (in both the north and south units of the campground). Showers are available for a fee (five minutes for$1.00) but we did not use them so cannot comment on how well they worked.

Activities/Amenities: In the south unit, there is a small manmade lake with an inflatable play structure and plenty of life jackets. The color is a beautiful Caribbean blue, but it did not look natural, and I was not sure of the source of the color. We were there on a weekday in September, and no one was using the lake. There is a small bar and grill (in the north section) and a concession (south unit) on-site, but both were closed when we were there. Firewood was available (15 pieces for $10); we asked and were granted permission to use the golf cart to bring the wood to our site. Other than the lake, there really is nothing offered for recreation.

We chose this campground for its location; it is very close to Highway 41 in Oshkosh (you will hear road noise) and we were meeting family there. We checked in online the day before and arrived at 3:30 pm. No one was in the office when we arrived but the family members we were meeting had arranged for us to camp in the site next to them (not the original one we had selected). This campground is VERY close to EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), and I imagine it would be completely full during the annual EAA convention. For us, it was a convenient location but aside from spending time with our family, the reason we chose this campground.

Long Lake Campground — Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit-Iansr

    Site 907

Our site was a bit less secluded than I’d prefer but still very nice. The loop we were on the lower 900 loop, had quite a few sites that could be combined to be group sites. Two sites completely adjoining or with very little separating them. This loop would be good for an option if the group sites are unavailable. Especially the inner loop sites that back up to each other. We walked some of the other loops and the did not all seem this way, stuff especially in the 700’s loop being a bit more wooded with some nice sites being my favorites, and also some nice sites in the upper 900’s loop that were spaced out nicely. Great hiking nearby, flush toilets, showers, nice little beach, plenty of downed wood around and also available to purchase 5$ a stack, pet friendly except no dogs allowed on the beach. There is a dog friendly picnic area near the water though. Nice get away pretty close to Milwaukee, Chicago, etc...

Guide to Sherwood

Camping options near Sherwood, Wisconsin offer diverse experiences within 30 miles of town. Nestled in the Fox Valley region at approximately 800 feet elevation, the area features a mix of woodland and lakefront settings. Winter temperatures regularly drop below freezing from November through March, with summer highs averaging in the 70s-80s°F, affecting seasonal campground operations.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Pearl Lake RV Campground features a well-stocked fishing pond where families can catch bluegill easily. "This campground is nestled in a stand of tall red pine trees so shade is found everywhere," notes camper Jeremy B., making it comfortable for anglers even on warm days.

Mini golf access: Village Inn on the Lake offers on-site mini golf for campers. "Cute Mini Golf Onsite! Location is great! About 2 Miles from Neshotah Beach!" writes Megan B., highlighting the convenience of having recreation right at your campsite.

Wildlife viewing: Campgrounds in the region provide opportunities to observe local fauna. "We saw so much wildlife! Chipmunks, ducks, a great horned owl, and countless birds to name a few," reports Hannah H. about her stay at Hickory Oaks Campground, where natural habitats attract diverse species.

What campers like

Affordable rates: Omro RV Park offers budget-friendly camping near Sherwood with basic amenities. "It is $15 per night. Dump station and water available, but not at your site. Quiet, clean, well kept," explains Doug S., noting the value for travelers.

Indoor pool access: Some rv parks in Sherwood, Wisconsin vicinity provide swimming options regardless of weather. "The indoor pool is so nice! It's a saltwater pool and they have a separate hot tub," shares Amber C. about Village Inn on the Lake, adding that "it was not crowded the time we went."

Halloween celebrations: Seasonal events enhance camping experiences at certain parks. "We stayed for their Halloween celebration and the place was decked out! They had trick or treating and a golf cart parade," describes camper Whistle P. about Pearl Lake RV Campground's festive atmosphere.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most rv campgrounds near Sherwood close during winter months. Hickory Oaks Campground operates from "May 1 to Nov 1" according to their listing, with similar timeframes at other parks. "We have camped here for 9 years for Country USA," mentions Jennifer G., indicating consistent seasonal availability.

Highway noise considerations: Traffic sounds affect some campgrounds. Scott D. notes about Apple Creek Campground: "What wasn't so great was the proximity to the interstate, unfortunately, there is no changing that."

Campsite spacing: Parks vary significantly in how close sites are positioned. "If you have a neighbor with a slide out then you lose half of your green space. That's a big drawback," explains Amber C. about Village Inn on the Lake, while at Fremont RV Campground, Lisa S. mentions "sites are close together with nothing in between. No privacy."

Tips for camping with families

Water features for kids: Apple Creek Campground provides swimming options for children. "Nice pool, well stocked fishing pond for catch and release," notes Lynn N., though adding "there is nothing to do at this campground, and you have to drive 30 minutes to the city."

Activity calendars: Some campgrounds offer organized events. "Great customer service and the other campers were the best. There were plenty of activities for the kids and adults," Matthew J. shares about Pearl Lake RV Campground, where they found a "man made swimming pond, filtered and aerated" plus an arcade.

Noise levels: Consider the environment when choosing family camping spots. "Campground is FULL of kids which means full of noise and activity. It's a good place to take the kids but I wouldn't recommend staying here if you really want to camp or need peace and quiet," advises Lisa S. about Fremont RV Campground.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Osh Vegas Palms provides level sites for larger rigs. "Level and Large sites! Marty cares about his guests," reports Karole J., while Dave H. confirms "long sites. Big rig friendly."

Access road considerations: Road quality affects the camping experience, particularly for larger RVs. Angie G. observed at Plymouth Rock Camping Resort that "the short term sites are literally over a mile of tight, windy road to get to them."

Hookup limitations: Not all rv parks near Sherwood, Wisconsin offer full hookups year-round. Ross C. notes about Apple Creek Campground: "We wanted septic and they didn't tell us that the septic is a guy in a truck who comes by one or two times a week. There is a dump station however."
