Best RV Parks & Resorts near Lake Delton, WI

Lake Delton offers several RV campgrounds with varied amenities throughout the Wisconsin Dells area. Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park features big-rig friendly sites with fifty-amp electric, sewer and water hookups, and operates from April to October. Fox Hill RV Park provides full hookup sites with gravel pads and fifty-amp service, while Ho-Chunk RV Resort operates year-round for continuous access. Edge-O-Dells Camping & RV Resort maintains an adults-only policy (21+) and offers sewer connections from May through September. Sites at most parks accommodate larger vehicles, though electrical placement can be challenging. "Make sure you bring 50 ft of electrical cord and water hose. They do offer to barrow their extension cords."

Many campgrounds in the area provide amenities beyond basic hookups. Most feature shower facilities, trash service, and on-site dump stations, while some include camp stores selling firewood and essential supplies. The terrain at several parks consists of gravel pads requiring some leveling, particularly after rain. One camper noted that "Full hookups and friendly staff" compensate for the occasional site challenges. Seasonal availability varies significantly, with most parks operating from mid-April through mid-October, though winter camping options are limited. Pet policies generally allow dogs at most locations, though some parks may have breed restrictions or designated pet areas. Proximity to Wisconsin Dells attractions makes advance reservations essential during summer months, especially for premium pull-through spots.

    Lantern DeForest

    Cute campground - near Madison

We were in Site# B1. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-thru. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site. My jeep though did not fit. The site was easy to level.

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a larger sized lot with our neighbors not too close (but we did choose a premium site with a patio and paid extra to be on the end).

This specific lot comes with a concrete patio The lot comes with a picnic table and fire hole in the ground.

They have a community Outdoor kitchen-y area with picnic tables.
They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool.
There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes and a volleyball court.

They have a great general store.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes but there are great places to ride bikes outside of campground, especially around Middleton and Madison.

They have cabins for rent and tent areas.

They have one shower house. The shower house has the typical stalls. These are kept mostly clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine.

They have a fenced in dog park and many grassy areas to walk dogs.

There were no trails to hike in the campground.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are the Saturday Farmer’s Market in Madison and multitude of bike trails.

    Christmas Mountain Village Campground

Christmas in Summer but I think I will skip the WInter.

This is a member resort but they do allow the public in.  We went in as Coast to Coast members.  This is an all season resort it does have a ski hill and accommodations for winter.  You can buy a condo resort, Lease a Time Share, buy a camping site ( with a Park Model on it,  Camp in a Motor Home, Trailer or Tent.  You can camp with full hook ups or as they call it the Wilderness Camping, they have some with 110 hook ups.

Facilities are very nice and clean, Swimming Pool, Club House with a lot of things to do. The sites are nice and big most are either pull through or large back in sites.  They also have an 18 holes golf course, since we don't golf really don't know how it is.

They have some WIFi but it is best at the club house the hotspots worked better.

If you would like to  visit Wisconsin Dells this is a great place as it is not very far from downtown and all the activities.  We spent 2 days exploring the Dells even in rain.  Had a great time.

If you are in the area I would check it out.

    Fireside Campground

    Quiet and friendly RV camping

This is a RV campground, with both seasonal and weekend sites. Coin laundry and shower room with 4 showers. They have nice level site in a grassy and sandy area, with enough tree coverage for shade but not so much you’re freaking out parking your camper. Big rig friendly. Decent wi-fi and plenty of space on your site. Dog friendly. They have a big playground for kids, and activities. For us, this was a great place for us to easily set up our camper and use it as a base camp for hiking at Governor Dodge, visiting House in the Rock, and tubing on the Pine River. The staff here was super helpful and friendly, and the seasonal campers were all nice and chatty. We have camped at another RV campground in Spring Green that has a party vibe, and this was a more relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely come here again!!

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

Good mix of rv and nature

We visited for opening weekend during COVID-19, so the park was quiet but open. The staff and owners here were very friendly and extremely helpful when we ran into some snags with setting up camp. We were able to check in online and drive right to our campsite, to get our enjoyment started right away. Our spot, F-2, was right across from the playground and great for my kiddo. Only neighbors to the sides and woods behind. This park has some nature trails, disc golf, and a good size dog run. It’s well kept and maintained. All site are pretty level with gravel pad and logically positioned utilities. The tent loop is more remote, but not a far walk from the park and pool. Pool wasn’t open yet this early in season. We enjoyed our peaceful stay and even booked for Memorial Day weekend as other campgrounds are closed and cancelling reservations. We are happy to have our social distanced camping experience and we’re very happy with Fox Hill. Can’t wait to come back when summer is in full swing! Compared to other campgrounds in the Dells, the price is reasonable for full hookups. It’s also really close to Devils Lake and Mirror State Park, so a perfect spot to have excellent hiking opportunities nearby and be able to quickly access all the yahoo craziness of the Dells area if you need an Olde Time Photo or a water skiing show. If you golf, there’s a 9 hole course next door that is easy to walk to.

    Blue Mound State Park Campground

Great state park with a pool!

We love this state park for family camping. The sites for RVs have electrical, but no water. The bathrooms are OK, its what you expect from a state park. But the hiking around the park is amazing. There are tons of trails, and 2 wooden observation towers to climb so you can see all the way to Madison on a clear day! If it's a hot summer day, enjoy the swimming pool or head over to Cave of the Mounds where it's always cool. There's also a biking camp ground right off the Ice Age Trail, which makes it a great stop for an overnight or just a break. You're also close enough to drive to Mt. Horeb if you need more action or beer.

We've always enjoyed this campground because the overnight camping are has fewer sites, and therefore less crowded. It's a nice shaded area with some tight spots. If you are in a tent, some even have gravel pads for a level area that drains well. For RVs, be sure to select a bigger site than you think you need. Sometime's it's tricky to maneuver your camper so big rigs may want to stay elsewhere. Our 30 ft. travel trailer fit fine, with some skilled driving. Lots of trees for shade or hammocks, and bigger fields and picnic areas if you need some space to play frisbee.

    Wisconsin Dells KOA

Close to the Dells action but jam packed in summer

Camping the in Wisconsin Dells area is always a challenge because there are such big crowds in the summer heading to the waterparks. If you are looking to stay in your camper while enjoying the Wisconsin Dells tourism, this KOA is fine. The lots are very small, but overall paved and level so you will have a quick set up. You are on top of your neighbor and your fire pit is close (too close) to all your stuff. There is a pool, but is was crazy crowded with obnoxious campers. If you have a camper (travel trailer, motorhome, pop-up) you should have everything you need for an in-town stay at the Dells. If you're in a tent, I wouldn't chose this campground and would stay further away from the main strip.

Ice Age Campground — Devils Lake State Park

    Winter Beauty Beyond

We’ve been here multiple times but winter is truly our favorite, ice fishing, snowshoeing etc. The state park is busy in summer but not much in winter.. tons of opportunities in warmer weather which equates to the popularity. The views are fantastic and it’s family friendly. Camping was quiet and you can camp by the lake or further from the lake in the woods. Worthy of multiple returns.

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

    New sites vs old sites

This is our second stay here as RV campers. We stayed for 3 nights over the Memorial Day weekend, and it was packed with campers. There are 2 main sections of the campground: the new part that is all full hook-up RV sites and the older part which is a mix of W/E and S/W/E. The new section will be a lot better next year, but *just* finished construction and it is still a wide open area. It was dusty and hot because the grass isn't gown in yet, there's still a ton of sand, and no trees. So the new sites currently have little to no shade (see pictures). If you have a big rig and need pull through with full hook up, it may be worth it. We chose to get a smaller campsite with just W/E because there are trees and shade, and it just feels a little more like camping. Also have spots for hanging hammocks, and some sites are positioned well for groups.

Despite the very crowded campground, the bathrooms were immaculate. Even the Men's room was super clean. They have 3 indoor showers in each gender bathroom, and a couple of outdoor shower stalls. The pool was also open, and warm enough to swim in. They also had some fun activities for the kids, but it was a challenge to maintain safe distancing with all of the interested people.

I think this is a great campground for families that want some of the nicer amenities (pool, rental bikes, games, etc) that the nearby state parks are lacking. It's our preferred campground to use as base camp for hiking and exploring nearby. You're only a 10 min drive from the Dells, but you have the fee of an up north campground. The owners are super helpful and nice. Once the  new area fills in with grass and some shade trees, this place will be 5 stars in my book. Did I mention there are 2 dog play areas? Really well kept and a wonderful touch.

Guide to Lake Delton

Several campgrounds surround Lake Delton within the Wisconsin Dells area, many situated between elevations of 850-900 feet above sea level. The region experiences four distinct seasons with hot summers reaching 80-90°F and winter temperatures frequently dropping below freezing. Most campgrounds in this area close for winter between mid-October and mid-April, though Ho-Chunk RV Resort operates year-round.

What to do

Hike nearby nature trails: Arrowhead RV Campground offers wooded areas with walking paths. "This is a very nice campground. Most of the RV sites are well shaded. It is a short drive to the attractions of Wisconsin Dells and several state parks. Rustic feeling to the campground. There is a nature trail within the campground," reports Jerry S.

Visit state parks: Multiple state parks are within driving distance of Lake Delton. "We went to Devils lake for a day & hiked around the grotto it was beautiful. There is a spot Big Blue herons nest in the tall pines they make a lot of noise. They had babies in their nests," shares B M. from Fox Hill RV Park.

Enjoy water activities: Swimming options range from pools to natural bodies of water. "The kids loved the blow ops in the pond. The pool was nice, but a bit colder than the pond. It's heated with a solar cover," notes Joan from Fox Hill RV Park. Many campgrounds offer dedicated swimming areas during summer months.

What campers like

Activities for all ages: Yukon Trails Camping Resort provides numerous recreational options. "Great campground for the family. Hosts provide plenty of activities like a DJ, breakfast, and lunch and donuts! Rentals for golf carts are available and a store on site. Arcade for the kids," writes Dawn A.

Clean facilities: Bathrooms and shower buildings are well-maintained at most campgrounds. "Overall the facilities were clean and in good shape. They will deliver wood to your campsite when needed," reports Erin A. about Fox Hill RV Park.

Outdoor recreation amenities: Ho-Chunk RV Resort & Campground offers extensive outdoor spaces. "We stayed here for 1 week and enjoyed the fall colors. The showers were clean and nice. Laundry was less expensive than most laundromats we've used this year. Everything worked great. We also enjoyed the trails around, but had to pick a ton of ticks off our dogs!" notes Whistle P.

What you should know

Site conditions vary significantly: Terrain and site quality differ between campgrounds and within the same facility. "Quiet, all drive-thrus, reasonable rates, very close to the dells, clean bathhouse," reports Lon L. about Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park, while another camper at the same park notes, "Campsites are small. If you are looking for FHU sites are level enough. But, if you are needing just water and electric you should look elsewhere. Sites are very unlevel."

Weather considerations: Wisconsin's climate affects camping conditions. After rain, some sites require additional preparation. "The public showers were also free if needed. They could have used a little TLC on the roads into the sites as the rain created large holes and puddles which were a bit hard to navigate a trailer or motorhome but when we were in our site all was well!" notes Dawn A. about Yukon Trails.

Water quality concerns: Some rv campgrounds in Lake Delton, Wisconsin have mineral-heavy water. "Make sure to use a water filter outside your camper. The water left an orange residue in our dog bowls, sinks and pipes," advises Whistle P. about Ho-Chunk RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Look for family-focused amenities: Lake of the Woods Campground specializes in family camping. "Nice shady sites, very family oriented a lot of stuff for kids to do, planned events every weekend. Bar has great food. Pool and kiddie pool were clean and the beach/pond was so nice," shares Emily C.

Consider site location: Request sites near playgrounds for convenience with children. "We visited for opening weekend during COVID-19, so the park was quiet but open. Our spot, F-2, was right across from the playground and great for my kiddo. Only neighbors to the sides and woods behind," notes Kim L. about Fox Hill RV Park.

Plan for adult-only campgrounds: Not all rv campgrounds near Lake Delton welcome children. "We stayed for two nights and had a great time in the Dells. This is a 21+ campground, so there were no kids. The bar has live music and it is right next to the pool area. Had a blast playing water volleyball and sitting in the hot tub in the evening," reports Kameron A. about Edge-O-Dells Camping & RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Extension cords needed: Many campgrounds have oddly placed utility hookups. "Our site was very unlevel side to side. It took two 2x6 and a 1x6 under the camp side to be level. That made the first step into the coach, and last step out of the coach extremely high off the ground. Water pressure was good, no power issues and the sewer connection was clean and accessible," reports Jeff G. about Fox Hill RV Park.

Site selection matters: Choose sites based on specific needs for shade, access, and hookup locations. "The new section will be a lot better next year, but just finished construction and it is still a wide open area. It was dusty and hot because the grass isn't gown in yet, there's still a ton of sand, and no trees. So the new sites currently have little to no shade," explains Kim L. about Fox Hill RV Park.

Check seasonal operating dates: Most rv campgrounds in the Wisconsin Dells area operate between April and October, with limited winter options. Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park is open from April 15 to October 7, while Arrowhead RV Campground operates from mid-April to mid-October.
