Best Campgrounds near Mount Solon, VA

Awesome, plenty of bathrooms; quarter showers, camp store, campground is very large! If you go during popular times of year it will be crowded at the campground so if you’re looking for a more isolated experience this might not be the best spot!

We spent two nights camping here and it was awesome. Nice size clearing, plenty of flat space, big stone fire ring (we used our little solo stove) and a great stream that runs right by the site. Plus you’re only a quarter mile from the pond which was really nice. There are pit toilets down the road that weren’t terrible. The only downside was that someone painted bright orange smiley faces on several of the trees. Not cool. But overall it was a clean, peaceful place to camp for a few nights!

I tent camped for one night at the start of Easter weekend. Lots and lots of folks about, but still enough space to NOT feel encroached upon. Level grass spot for a tent, fairly level paved parking area if car camping, picnic table, fire ring with grill grate. I was on the no generator loop, but in a non electric site (vs tent walk in type). Warm bathrooms, utility sinks in several, pay hot showers, lots of greenery. I will visit again! NO Verizon cell service at all!

First time camping in any part of Virginia, very nice and clean campground, not too much outside noise besides the random car driving on the one road near by. The Brewery itself is far enough away you don’t hear anything going on there unless there’s live music, they make some very good beer though. All around great views from our specific site of the mountains. Will be going back.

Getting a premium tent spot allowed us to arrive late and already be checked in. We had an amazing view. Bathrooms very clean. Short walk the brewery. The only negative was you’re not allowed to bring your own wood and it’s cash only, no atm’s on site, it would have been nice to scan a barcode to pay for the wood if there wasn’t someone there to take card payments. Will definitely return.

Super amazing person at check in! Easy reservations. Nice, inexpensive spot for a last-minute decision to get out of the house.

Really enjoyed this place. Maybe 5-10 min off of highway 220. There are maybe 5 ish spots to camp next to a river in this mountain valley. I took the one and only site just before the proper camp site (it was the best one IMO). Need to be self sufficient though, only convenience is a toilet house. No cell coverage. Highly recommend for primitive camping.

Booking was easy. Arrived after hours, staying one night. Our tag was waiting for us with a map to our RV spot with E/W by the creek and pond. It was off season, so plenty of spots and privacy. Looks like a fun place with lots of activities to come back to over the summer.

The bathhouse was close and clean with laundry and dump site next to it. They pick up trash each morning and have propane refill, if needed.

The site was a large group site in the trees. Private. Fire ring and picnic table. Everything you could need. Walking distance to the bath house, which was nicer than expected. Lovely trails. Ice and firewood available. Excellent checkin experience. Walk to Devils Backbone Brewery - so fun; even had a patio for our dog. Cell service was PRIMO! Loved it - biking hiking close by. We'll be back soon. Highly recommend.
