Best RV Parks & Resorts near Moscow, PA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks in northeastern Pennsylvania provide full-hookup sites for motorhome travelers. Clayton Park RV Escape in Lake Ariel features level sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, operating from May through mid-October. Thousand Trails Scotrun in Scotrun remains open year-round with accommodations for larger vehicles. "Even though I had a boo boo, they were very forgiving. It was a nice welcoming place," noted one Clayton Park visitor regarding staff response to an RV maintenance issue. Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North and South in East Stroudsburg offer seasonal camping from May through October, with Timothy Lake North providing big rig friendly sites with 50-amp service and pull-through options.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer months and fall foliage season. Many campgrounds in the Moscow area close between late October and May, though Scotrun and Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort remain open year-round. Sites with 50-amp service are available at several parks including Tri-State RV Park in Matamoras and Stonybrook RV Resort in Lehighton. Most parks provide sanitary dump stations and trash disposal services. Some campgrounds have limited cell service due to the mountainous terrain, particularly in more remote locations. Reviews indicate that accessibility varies between parks, with some offering spacious sites while others position RVs closer together. Pets are permitted at all reviewed campgrounds, though specific restrictions may apply.

    Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Stonybrook RV Resort

    This is a great place!

We spent four nights at Stonybrook RV Resort in Lehighton, PA, for a quiet wedding anniversary getaway— and so glad we did. We paid$150 per night total for a FHU 50 Amp Premium Back-in site (#F20). This campground makes a great home-base while hanging out in the Pocono Mountains.

    THINGS I LIKED:

    • This place is in super condition— everything works as it’s supposed to and is clean and maintained
    • The concrete pad/patio with Breeo smokeless fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and metal patio table and chairs made a great setup
    • Our site(F20) is level and beautiful— spacious and beautifully landscaped
    • We interacted with 5 members of their staff and all were welcoming and friendly to talk with
    • There’s a heated pool behind the office/store so it’s not noisy for campers at their sites

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

    • Just one thing— the entrance made for a challenging entry up a steep grade, narrow roadway, and sharp turn in. I made it without problems, but it wasn’t easy in a 45’ motorhome towing a Jeep. This may be nitpicky— and I’m not complaining about it— just letting you know to expect it on arrival.

    WOULD WE COME BACK?

    • Absolutely, this is a great campground(I’ve already recommended it to my Newmar Kountry Klub chapter president as a possible site for a future rally).

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Panther Lake Camping Resort

    Stayed all summer

We stayed at Panther Lake as full timers all season. Great during the week but very busy on weekends. Could be noisy with children not very well supervised.
Friendly, helpful staff. Cable TV poor when it rains. Cell service spotty all carriers. No internet at sites. Lake beautiful and pool nice.

    Montrose Campground

Family and pet friendly year-around campground

We tried this campground a few times for short stays and ended up going seasonal last year and will do the same this year. It is a little off the beaten path but is great for families (plenty of activities for kids) and pets (our dog LOVES it there). They have a pool, fishing pond, hiking trails, mini golf, playground, large grassy areas for kids to play, and horseshoe pits. There is a store (stocked with grocery staples/snacks but also TONS of RV specific supplies/parts), laundry and showers (a new and improved bath house is currently being built). There are planned activities almost every weekend during the 'season' but they are open all year with some winter sites available. They have all sites available from tent right up to 50 amp full hook-ups. I can't wait for the new season to begin in April!

Guide to Moscow

RV camping near Moscow, Pennsylvania offers access to the Pocono Mountains region with elevations ranging from 1,300 to 1,900 feet. The area experiences distinct seasons with winter temperatures often dropping below freezing from November through March while summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region due to the mountainous terrain.

What to do

Lake activities at Keen Lake: Keen Lake Resort Campground provides extensive water recreation with canoe and paddle boat rentals. "We had SUPs and kayaks to take on the lake and our sites were right next to the boat launch. Each day we would paddle over to the swimming area on the lake," reports one visitor who stayed at a lakeside site.

Hiking access: Soaring Eagle Campground offers sites near the Delaware River with connections to local trails. A camper notes, "Great for fisherman, hikers also great for tubing down the Delaware or canoeing. Pretty quiet but we went there in June before school was out so there wasn't many kids."

Mountain biking and adventure sports: Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort serves as a base for mountain adventures. A visitor explains, "If you choose adventure this is the place for you, ride the ski lifts up to the top of the mountain then you get to bike down it, they have rental bikes available or bring your own. You can also Zip line or swing through the trees if you would rather."

What campers like

Spacious natural sites: Many campers appreciate larger sites at campgrounds in the area. At Soaring Eagle Campground, a visitor commented, "Sites are huge, plenty of room for 2+ family campers." The natural setting stands out compared to more developed parks.

Clean facilities: Stonybrook RV Resort receives consistent praise for maintenance. "The laundry area and shower rooms are beautiful and clean," mentions one reviewer. Another adds, "Shower/bathrooms are the best I've ever seen."

Fall foliage viewing: Thousand Trails Scotrun provides a prime location for autumn colors. "We came in at end of season, so pretty much everything seems closed. But, it's a beautiful campground and the part of PA is great too," notes one visitor who rated their fall experience highly.

What you should know

Site selection matters: At Stonybrook RV Resort, choose carefully based on your needs. "If you're booking, it may be best to book on the upper levels because the lower area where we were did flood pretty bad a couple times when there was a lot of rain," advises one camper.

Seasonal operations: Many campgrounds close during winter months. Keen Lake Resort operates from April 26 to October 14, while Timothy Lake campgrounds typically run May 1 through October 31.

Connectivity challenges: Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South has connectivity limitations. "Cell service is awful for AT&T and our T-Mobile gateway. Had to move to a new site to get away from the trees to get starlink connectivity," reports one camper who stayed recently.

Tips for camping with families

Activities scheduling: Keen Lake Resort Campground offers structured programming for children. "They have activity coordinators that make sure there is something to do for all ages every hour of the day!" explains a seasonal camper who has been returning for years.

Off-peak visits for quieter experience: Timing affects crowd levels significantly. "We visited during the week instead of the weekend where it seems they have a lot of events. Mostly seasonal campers, we were one of the few transient campers for our visit," notes a visitor to Stonybrook RV Resort.

Pool alternatives: When swimming pools become crowded during peak times, Mountain Top RV Park offers additional recreation options. "There's also a nice lounge room with games, a pool table, a tv and puzzles/board games," mentions a recent visitor, providing indoor alternatives during inclement weather.

Tips from RVers

Highway noise considerations: When choosing an overnight stop, Tri-State RV Park offers convenience but with tradeoffs. "Located just off the highway so lots of vehicle noise 24/7. Sites are on a gravel lot. Restrooms are clean. Not much else to say about this CG, is just a parking lot with hookups," explains a recent RV visitor.

Power availability: For larger rigs, verify amperage before booking. "The camp is nice, sites are long but narrow. Best water pressure I have seen on the east coast, unregulated it's over 80 psi," reports a camper at Timothy Lake South, highlighting the need for water pressure regulators.

Winter access options: While many Moscow-area campgrounds close during winter, Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort and Thousand Trails Scotrun remain open year-round, providing options for cold-weather RV camping near Moscow, Pennsylvania.
