Best RV Parks & Resorts near Bryn Mawr, PA

Several RV campgrounds operate within 30 miles of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, with varying levels of amenities and space. Spring Gulch Resort Campground in New Holland offers full hookups including 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections from March 21 through December 1. At Village Scene Park in Hatfield, RV sites remain available year-round with full hookups, though fires are not permitted on the property. Sun Valley Campground in Narvon accommodates RVs from April through November with electric, water and sewer hookups on mostly gravel sites. The sites at Philadelphia/West Chester KOA are particularly tight for large motorhomes, with one reviewer noting "I did have major trouble backing in because the road is too narrow for a 45' motorhome to back in on a nearly 90-degree angle."

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for weekend stays, especially during fall foliage season when campgrounds fill quickly. Most RV parks near Bryn Mawr require reservations for weekend stays, with many offering online booking systems. Access roads to some campgrounds present challenges for larger motorhomes, particularly those exceeding 40 feet. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, travelers should verify dump station availability, as not all parks offer this service on-site. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with Verizon typically providing the most reliable coverage throughout the region. Big rig owners should specifically request information about site dimensions and turning radius requirements when booking, as several reviewers mentioned tight quarters for larger RVs, especially in older established campgrounds.

    Adventure Bound Camping (Tall Pines)

    Deceiving Website

We stayed at Adventure Bound Tall Pines in Elmer, New Jersey, for Memorial Day weekend for a quick getaway. Despite reserving and paying for a“Premium” site, it fell far short. But there were still a few things we liked…

    THINGS I LIKED:

    1. Super-friendly staff, especially Allie, who was courteous and seemed to try to make things right

    2. Lots of mature shade trees

    3. DJ at the pool Saturday and Sunday and live band Saturday evening

    4. Close proximity to Delsea Drive-in Theatre and Cohenzick Zoo

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

    1. I reserved and paid-in-full for a premium site which listed 50-amp service and a concrete pad. Nope. Only 30-amp service and no concrete pad. When I called the office, assuming there must’ve been a mistake, I was told by two different staff members that their website is“wonky.” I wouldn’t mind as much, but this weekend was 90-degrees each day and humid, so it would’ve been good to have air conditioning.

    2. The entire park was dirty sand with weeds growing everywhere

    3. This place is not big-rig friendly, difficult to navigate some of the turns in our 45’ motorhome and taking scratches from tree branches that should be trimmed

    4. I paid$432 for 3-nights and feel like I was taken

    WOULD WE COME BACK?

Nope. I’m sticking with campgrounds that give you what you paid for.

Atsion Family Camp — Wharton State Forest

    4x4ing in the Pine Barrens

    Atsion Family Campground

Off US 206 and about 1/2 a mile up Atsion Road in New Jersey’s Wharton State Forest, you’ll find the Atsion Family Campground. The facility is run by the Dept of Environmental Protection and offers Tent, Trailer and Group Sites. There are also Cabins for rent as well, but only available during the summer months, After Memorial Day until October. AFC is one of several campgrounds in WSF and is the largest with 50 camping sites. Amenities include a handicapped accessible restroom/shower building, several drinking water spigots, and a waste dump for trailers. There are no electric hook ups and cell service is low, but manageable. Plenty of sun (shady too) so bring your solar powered generators and cell signal boosters if you need to stay connected. AFC is also pet friendly, so bring your 4 legged furry family members, after registering them with the camp site.

The individual sites are spacious with a pic-nick table and fire ring grill. Some sites have lake-side water access, so bring your canoes and kayaks and reserve these sites (4, 8, 10, 12, 20 and 22) early as they are popular. The ground is sandy and relatively level for easy camp set up. Some sites are close to a roadway, so you do get some car noise, and like all unmonitored camp sites, loud, unruly campers can be lurking among the pines. Be sure to get your fire wood from the guy that lives across the street from the campground entrance. 5 bucks, on the honor system, a good amount of wood, open 24/7.

Nearby is the Atsion Recreation Area, which offers fishing, walking, biking and horseback trails, a life guard monitored beach by the lake with restrooms and snacks (Summer Months). Only 15 minutes away, a quick drive, is Batso Village, an old iron and glass community from the late 1700s to early 1900s. NJ State Park Rangers are working hard keeping the area clean, rehabilitated, and educational center allowing you to walk through the old buildings and time as you image what life was like back then. Wharton SF is huge, over 122,000 acres of sandy terrain, towering pine trees, lakes/rivers and off roading trails!! Y’all should come and play in the Pine Barrens

    The Loose Caboose Campground

    Quiet w/ spacious sites

No frills or extras at the campground, but great place to set up camp! This campground has spacious level sites with gravel pads, full hookups, and fire rings. A great location to stay in proximity to lots of Lancaster attractions/activities. Owners were both very helpful and friendly. The campground is currently offering a Coronavirus Camper Stimulus package (see their website for promotions) based on the PA re-opening phases when we went. This made an already affordable campground even more affordable while allowing people the opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy nature.

Some great hiking and biking trails nearby not to mention a nice area to walk in the woods at the top of the campgrounds mountain. We specifically went to two different sections of the Enola Low Grade Trail about 20 & 30 minutes away. Our favorite was along the Susquehanna River in Manor Township.

This isn't a resort, but if you need a place to wind down, have a fire w/ some peace and quiet, and camp this place is nice. Some rundown trailers and an old falling apart house in the campground that take away from it's beauty is the only reason I gave it a 4.

We have a 31' travel trailer and we had Site 62 at top of mountain which we fit into fine. The sites are mostly back-in sites. All the sites at the top were just as awesome!

    Adventure Bound Camping (Tall Pines)

    Colonial Woods Family Resort

    Not big rig friendly.

Ok so let me start off by saying. If we still had our smaller travel trailer this review would’ve been at least 4 stars. However this place is not the place for you if you have a fifth wheel. The roads are very narrow, pretty sizable boulders on both sides, trees are very low and need to be trimmed (almost took my ac out with a huge limb). Now if you’re not big rig camping like we do, this place is great for you. Close to the ringing rocks and three other towns. We were able to do so much even though it rained the entire weekend we were there.

    Spacious Skies Country Oaks

    Great Value Getaway!

We stayed at Country Oaks Campground in Dorothy, NJ, for a 4-day weekend. We’re so glad we did!

Our site(#15) was a pull-thru with 50-amp electric, water, sewer, and cable. The hook-ups were all well-maintained and worked fine. The site included a concrete patio, picnic table, and fire ring.

The campground was clean and well-maintained. The swimming pool was large and the water crystal clear. The game room included air hockey, pinball, video games, and a few arcade games. The store was stocked with typical essentials like propane, fire wood, and snacks. Daily trash collection was a nice convenience.

The staff and camp hosts were all friendly and eager to help. We especially love that.

The majority of sites are seasonal which all seemed well kept.

The only negative was bad wifi service. Our Verizon cell signal was strong which kept us connected.

This is a great campground. Many thanks to the staff for a great stay and lots of value at Country Oaks for$65 per night. We’ll certainly go back!

    Country Acres Campground

    Clean, quiet, and really nice

Our first trip of 2023 was to Country Acres Campground in Gordonville, PA. And what a great campground to start our season! This is a great spot for visiting Pennsylvania Amish of Lancaster County and about a one-hour drive to Hersheypark.

Our site(# 837) was a good size for our motor home+ toad. It was level and covered in gravel, like all sites and roadways within the campground. Our site had full hookups, decent wi-fi, cable TV, a picnic table, fire ring, and nicely kept grassy area between sites.

Becci was super nice at check-in and check-out. They offer a 2:00 pm check-out which we enjoyed. And there are free tickets available for the Amish Farmland Bus Tour. There’s a small, basic tree at the front office. The pool wasn’t yet opened for our stay. They offered a 10% Good Sam discount(which is nice).

Bottom line: We had a great time at Country Acres Campground and can’t wait to go back!

    THINGS I LIKED:

    • Clean and well-maintained property

    • Quiet campground with friendly neighbors

    • All of the RVs appeared well-maintained with no seasonal sites

    • Easy access from Route 30

Guide to Bryn Mawr

RV campsites near Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania typically sit at elevations between 200-500 feet with predominantly clay soils that can become muddy during the region's average 47 inches of annual rainfall. Most campgrounds in the area remain open from April through October, though several offer extended seasons through November. The majority of sites feature gravel pads with varying levelness across the region's rolling terrain.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lake-In-Wood Campground offers a stocked pond for catch-and-release fishing. According to visitor Edward M., the campground provides "nice fishing in the lake" amid a "very nice and clean campground" setting with additional amenities like a store, pool and cafe.

Farm visits: The Amish Country location of Spring Gulch Resort Campground makes it ideal for cultural exploration. Paulina B. calls it a "Hidden Amish Country Gem" noting that "this resort is a lot bigger than you would anticipate from the road/entryway" with "tons of amenities for families."

Mini golf: Several campgrounds feature mini golf courses for family entertainment. At Lake-In-Wood Campground, Jen R. notes that while the "miniature gold" course is available, some visitors observed it "could use some upkeep" but remains a popular activity for campers of all ages.

Nature trails: Deep Creek Campground at Green Lane Park provides access to multiple hiking paths. Joe B. describes it as a "beautiful campground" with "clean restrooms, lots of open space" and "lots of hiking trails" for day adventures from your campsite.

What campers like

Entertainment options: Spring Gulch Resort Campground offers regular scheduled activities. Dawn T. mentions "They had a live band one evening. Activities though the day were fun" and found the "staff was friendly," making for an enjoyable overall experience.

Pool amenities: Sun Valley Campground receives praise for its well-maintained swimming facilities. Jim C. noted the "great swimming pool, immaculately clean bathrooms and showers" and described it as a "B+ little gem of a campground" worth extending their stay.

Community atmosphere: Many campers appreciate the friendly environment at established campgrounds. At Sun Valley, Becca U. found it was "By far, the friendliest campground we have visited!" adding that "We immediately had multiple people offer insight as to how best approach the site."

Cabin options: For those without RVs, Robin Hill Campground offers cabin rentals with good reviews. Kathy H. reports "We choose Robinhill for our very first camping experience with our TT, we were not disappointed. Staff very friendly, it was nice and quiet and the bathroom was nice and clean."

What you should know

Site conditions: Many campgrounds feature varying terrain that affects RV parking. At Sun Valley Campground, Lori described staying "in loop 700 - very nice, new and well-maintained area with mature trees and lovely fall colors" but noted the area had "outer ring of area had unoccupied trailers."

Seasonal operations: Most RV parks near Bryn Mawr operate on limited schedules. Sun Valley Campground runs from April 1 to November 1, with Scott J. calling it "My Happy Place" where "The office greets you with a smile" and the "Saturday night bands are concert worthy."

Facilities maintenance: Campground upkeep varies significantly between properties. At Deep Creek Campground, Tiffany B. found it to be a "Basic Campground" where "Sites are close to each other with absolutely no privacy. Bathrooms however are nice and clean with plenty of them around the park."

Privacy considerations: Site spacing affects camping experience throughout the region. Tara T. observed at Deep Creek that "The spaces are right on top of each other with no tree cover between spots, so you'll definitely be right up on your neighbors" despite the "lovely park, lovely rangers."

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Family-friendly activities are abundant at certain campgrounds. At Lake-In-Wood, Olivia M. says despite rain during her visit, "the campground is walkable, I was able to go running, there are things for kids to do, some animals to go visit on our walks."

Pool options: Lake Kandle offers excellent water recreation for children. Mya M. describes it as "Great for kids" with a "Lake with swing and fishing and two pools" though notes limitations like "No pets no alcohol no store but they have a snack stand."

Site selection: Choose sites strategically for the best family experience. Mya M. advises to "Make sure to get an end campsite or your table will be by the sanitary dump" but confirms "Large sights kids had fun."

Recreation variety: Multiple options keep children entertained. Paulina B. notes Spring Gulch provides "Tons of amenities for families including mini golf, an arcade, pools, fishing ponds, etc. Not to mention live music on the weekends!"

Tips from RVers

Site approaches: Access to some sites requires careful navigation. At Village Scene Park, Stuart K. notes that "VSP's location is great for those wanting to access some of the bigger, better things in Philly proper, without having to actually stay in the city" but advises calling ahead to check availability.

RV size considerations: Larger motorhomes face challenges at certain campgrounds. Mary C. found Lake-In-Wood had "roads were very tight and you really had to watch how you drove through because of the trees" and "Our site was a drive-through but slanted."

Extended stay planning: For longer visits, consider seasonal options. Linda F. from Village Scene Park reported "We've stayed here a couple times in past. Have family in the area. Grew up in this area so very comfortable and easy access to lots of places! This visit we stayed six months may to October."

Weather precautions: Site drainage matters for RV camping comfort. At Robin Hill Campground, Linda F. warned "Sites are swampy if they've had rain! Took us over two hours to disconnect because of mushy, muddy site!" despite "Personnel were very nice and considerate."
