Lake Texoma State Park accommodates pets at all of its camping areas near Kingston, Oklahoma. The park maintains designated pet-friendly sites at Catfish Bay, Johnson Creek, and Caney Creek campgrounds, with clean grounds and level RV pads. Most sites include water and electric hookups, covered picnic tables, and fire rings where dogs can relax alongside their owners. The bathrooms in the campgrounds are generally well maintained with private toilet, sink, and shower facilities. Guests note that bathhouses are kept exceptionally clean at Caney Creek campground, though access may be limited to only one facility during off-peak seasons.

Sand burrs are present in multiple locations throughout some campgrounds, requiring careful inspection of pet paws after walks. The peninsula areas at Preston Bend provide particularly scenic spots for pet owners with concrete pads and beautiful sunrise and sunset views over the water, though campers should be prepared to immediately treat for ants upon arrival to prevent infestations in campers and tents.

      Sugar Hill RV Resort

Great North Texas Spot to Explore

About 45minutes north of Dallas which makes easy entry and exit. Very clean amenities, spacious sites, better than average dog park, good amount of grass and walking trails around. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Even had a small fitness room that will work in a pinch.

Camp hosts on site and the staff is very welcoming. This park is extremely well cared for and relatively new...so as the trees mature so will the shade and the aesthetics. Great place for a long term stay or just a weekend getaway. The nearby town of Ardmore has all the necessities: shopping, dining, groceries, fuel and Walmart and just a short distance to Winstar Casino(one of the largest in the world) plus several museums and cultural centers. 1031 Lodge Rd, Ardmore, Oklahoma, 73401 l www.bythelakerv.com l 580-798-4721 l GPS 34.071845,-97.132978

I great place to stop for the night!

Sites are concrete and level. Bathrooms and showers were big and clean. Nice big dog park. The pool did not look to be very clean and the out door showers by the pool were not working. Wish we could have seen the game room, but they lock it up after they close.

      Waggin Tail Ranch RV Park

      Nice big fenced RV spots

We stayed here 5 months on a work trip. Nice sites most are fenced in with big yards. A few pull thru sites unfenced. The long term sites are well maintained, the staff do a great job of keeping the place nice. Nice big dog park with a pond, also a grooming and dog wash area. Has a pool with hot tub, and a small playground for the kids. We enjoyed our time here, so unique to have a fenced yard. Only down side is the Texas heat and none of the sites have any shade trees.

      Sanger - Denton North KOA

      Easy in, easy out

Nice large concrete spaces with plenty of room for a 44’ 5th wheel, tow vehicle and extra vehicle. Office staff was really friendly and helpful. Nice playground for kids and dog park. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is the feeling that we were parked in an RV storage lot rather than a campground. It feels commercialized and may be a fine stop if passing through, but not a place I would go to actually camp.

      Lake Point RV Resort

      Great RV Site

We arrived late but were met by the owners with smiles on their faces. They were very helpful and got us checked in quickly. The roads are wide (gravel) and plenty of space between sites. Ours was pull through. The community center is cute! The bathrooms/showers are very clean. The dog park was perfect for my dog on a hot day! I wish there were more mature trees for shade but that’s the only thing I can think of that I would change! Also note there is no wifi in RV area. You have to go to the community center to use it. There is cable internet hookups but you have to have a router.

Amazing amenities minutes from the lake

This RV park is one of our favorites. The amenities are amazing, concrete pads, full hook ups, a fishing pond, great pool, volleyball, basketball, and dog park made our 10 day stay incredible. I didn’t use them, but my husband said the bathrooms/showers were the cleanest he’s ever seen. Aside from how great the actual park is, the staff is amazing, best customer service ever and they do all they can to make you feel welcome.

The park is minutes from the marina, a fishing pier, and great hiking. We just left and are already booking another trip this summer.

      Shangri-La RV Resort

      Peaceful and quiet!

We stayed here for 2 weeks over Labor Day 2020. It is a secluded, large property far away from any road noise so it is very quiet. All sites have FHU 30/50 amp. Sites are either grass or some gravel. Our site, 25, was shady, grassy and level with room for us to park our car next to our MH. The owners are pleasant and helpful. When we arrived they were on vacation but they had a woman watching the park. She told us to pick any site. Our Verizon was 2 bars of 4G and I was told that AT&T is sketchy here. There is plenty of shopping in nearby Ardmore. There is 1 set of showers, a laundry room and 3 community fire pits. There are no dog runs but it seems nobody pays attention to the“Pets must be leashed and under control” rule. In my opinion this is one of those places where“Resort” is a misnomer. No picnic tables, cable, WiFi. Pool or other amenities associated with other RV Resorts. If you are in the area, especially for Lake Murray, you don’t need those other conveniences and enjoy peace and quiet this is a good place for you. Website is www.shangri-larvresort.com

    Guide to Kingston

Lake Texoma offers multiple pet-friendly campgrounds near Kingston, Oklahoma. The reservoir spans 89,000 surface acres with sandy beaches along parts of its 580-mile shoreline. Water levels typically fluctuate seasonally, with higher levels in spring and early summer. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F, making waterfront sites popular among campers.

    What to do

Hiking trails: Burns Run West offers equestrian and hiking paths connecting to nearby areas. "There is a long equestrian trail that goes over to Lakeside Park across the lake that can also be hiked pretty easily that has a couple secluded spots to swim along the way. The trail is well marked and easy to follow," notes one visitor at Platter Flats Campground.

Fishing opportunities: Many campgrounds provide direct lake access for fishing. At Burns Run East Campground, visitors can fish from the rocky shoreline. "Great area for fishing, water sports and camping. We had fun on Lake Texoma and will be returning. This is a small, well kept campground," reports a regular visitor.

Swimming access: Several campgrounds offer beach areas with sand for swimming. A reviewer at Paradise on Lake Texoma notes: "Texas and Oklahoma's border share the 89,000 surface area of Lake Texoma which just happens to be the 12th largest Corps of Engineers lake in the U.S.... Believe it or not, Lake Texoma has sandy beaches!"

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain well-kept restrooms and shower areas. At Eisenhower State Park Campground, visitors appreciate the upkeep: "Bathrooms are always clean. Fellow campers are very friendly. We love Eisenhower state park."

Spacious campsites: Several campgrounds provide ample space between sites. "The sites are a good size and had lots of shade. We had an amazing view of the lake! We stayed at site 13 on loop B and we were located close to the bath house, which was very convenient," reports a camper about Burns Run West.

Lake views: Many sites offer direct views of Lake Texoma. A visitor at Lakeside notes: "Most sites are water and electric, no sewer sites. There are 2 dump sites on the way out... Sites are asphault and generally spaced apart so you are not right on top of each other."

    What you should know

Seasonal variations: Some facilities reduce operations during off-peak times. A camper at COE Lake Texoma Burns Run West reports: "We visit all the time every summer. They keep it very nice. Lots of shade trees."

Bugs and wildlife: Prepare for common pests when camping. "Sand burrs are noted in multiple locations throughout the park. I had 5G 4 bars with T Mobile," mentions a visitor at Lakeside Campground.

Weather impacts: Summer heat affects comfort at exposed sites. "Not a lot of shade here, so summer would be sweltering. We stayed early October and it was great weather. Good shore fishing but not a lot of hiking and such close by," notes a visitor at Lake Texoma State Park.

    Tips for camping with families

Beach activities: Several dog-friendly campgrounds near Kingston offer sandy shorelines. At Lake Texoma State Park, "Our site was right on the lake. Luckily no one was in the site next to us, so we enjoyed a gentle slope down to the water... The water was fantastic for swimming right off our site!"

Playground access: Some campgrounds provide play areas for children. A visitor to Burns Run East mentioned: "Picnic table, fire ring, grill, dump station, flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, trash, 2 boat ramps, a dock, playground and beach."

Nature exploration: Local wildlife viewing opportunities abound for kids. "If you don't have a boat you'll regret it, but there are some hikes nearby too," notes a visitor at Eisenhower State Park.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup options: Most campgrounds offer electric and water connections, but not all have sewer at each site. A camper at Lakeside notes: "Section B is 50 amp. Sites are water and electric, no sewer sites. There are 2 dump sites on the way out."

Site selection: Consider location within the campground based on shade and proximity to amenities. "We were in the wooded campground across the street from the lake with concrete pads, shaded sites, nice spacing between sites, and full hookups. Whoever designed this campground did a great job. Campsites along the lake had great views, but were much closer together," reports a visitor at Burns Run West.

Road conditions: Interior roads vary in quality across campgrounds. "The road into and around the park was okay, there was room to drive around the entire park while looking for a spot," reports a visitor at Thousand Trails Lake Texoma.
