      Heyburn Park

      Peaceful uncrowded.

It's a nice quite campground ran by the Corps of Engineers. It has nice campsites that are well kept. It has restrooms with flushing toilets, showers, boat launch, a swim beach and a playground for the kids. The lake is small but great for hiking, nature watching, fishing, boating and swimming. Very peaceful and not crowded and has a lot of shaded campsites and group shelters. It is near a little town of Kellyvielle and about 10 miles from Bristow, which has a nice Walmarts for getting things you might need. It cost $25 dollars a night.

      Checotah-Lake Eufaula KOA

      Checotah, OK….Really nice campground .

If I was in area would stay again. Easy to get to and they take you to your site. Our 42’ 5th wheel snuggled in nicely. Sites have a large patio with chairs, table, gas grill and one for a wood fire. Each site is nicely landscaped. It’s quiet except for a bit of road noise but certainly nothing to complain about. You can still hear the sounds of nature. It’s very clean, lovely staff and gentleman that takes you to your site was very friendly and welcoming. They do have a laundry but didn’t use it. Our 2 dogs had a great time in the dog park which was really close. Highly recommend!!

      Love this campground

This campground is so beautiful. I have to be honest, we’re traveling the country and I didn’t have high hopes for liking Oklahoma. This campground has changed my mind. We haven’t even left and I’m already writing it down for us to visit again. It is beautiful here.

      Sheppard Point

      Nice for a quick trip

This campground was mostly clean and pleasant for a short weekend trip. We did find a lot of cigarette butts all over our site but other than that it was pretty clean. We camped next to some friends which worked out well because our picnic table was very close to the other people camping next to us. The lake has a little swim beach and the water is a bit dirty like most lakes in Oklahoma. There were bathrooms and showers nearby and they were some of the nicer bathrooms that we have come across. There isn’t a lot of shade so be aware of that. We didn’t get a chance to kayak while we were there because it was extremely hot and then we had a storm roll in but the lake seemed pretty nice for kayaking and other small boats.

While facilities vary in age, most campgrounds maintain reasonable cleanliness standards throughout the camping season.

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Water access may be limited during off-season months. At Sheppard Point, "This place was further off the beaten path than expected and was a beautiful location. I camped in late November so water was shut off but electric worked well," reports Michael A. Most campgrounds operate with reduced services from October through March.

Campsite levelness: Multiple reviewers mention challenges with unlevel sites throughout the area. "The area is really pretty and the spots by the water have an amazing view. Though several spots around the park are not very level and the hook ups are on the wrong side," notes Brittany M. Bringing leveling blocks is recommended, especially for RVs and trailers.
