HTR Niagara Campground accommodates pets in various lodging options including tent sites, RV spaces, cabins, glamping units, and yurts. Located about 30 minutes from West Seneca, this campground provides essential amenities for campers traveling with dogs, including dedicated waste stations and designated dog walking areas. Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground permits pets throughout their facility with marked pet exercise zones. The campground can get quite busy during summer weekends with many seasonal campers and golf carts moving throughout the grounds. Clean bathrooms near the campground store and pet-friendly policies make this location suitable for families camping with dogs.
Dog-friendly hiking trails surround Darien Lakes State Park Campground, where leashed pets are welcome at most campsites. The park features miles of pet-accessible paths with mature trees and grassy areas that provide comfortable spaces for dogs to exercise. Campers should note that some locations like Six Flags Darien Lake Campground have specific pet zones while restricting animals from certain common areas. Most campgrounds require pets to be leashed when outside the RV or tent, with typical restrictions limiting leash length to six feet. During summer months, shaded camping spots are recommended as temperatures can affect pets. Wildlife encounters are possible in these areas, so securing pets properly at night is advised for safety.

Letchworth State Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East and is located in Mt. Morris New York. My husband and I visited regularly when we lived near Rochester, NY. The park is stunning and is fit for camping whether you’re in a tent, RV or choosing to rent a gorgeous cabin. There are many walking and hiking trails for adventurers of all types. Make sure you bring your camera as the views are all photo worthy. The camping price is right due to the fact that the park is run by the state. A great place to stay especially in the Summer!!
We have camped at Letchworth State Park for nearly 30 years. Recent updates to playground equipment and restroom/shower facilities have brought the amenities into the 21st century. The price is reasonable, and the park is a gem. A couple cons to consider: pets only allowed in three loops. Quite often, pet loop reservations are maxed quickly. There is a two dog limit, which excludes many campers. If you are used to private campgrounds, realize that services are limited here. Mediocre camp store and laundry; both get the job done, but leave a lot to be desired.
Jake from the Dyrt here! Quiet Valley is a glamping campground with canvas tents in a slowed down country setting in New York. Check them out and leave a review about your stay on the Dyrt!
Called up on Friday afternoon of Labor Day weekend and they accommodated us for two nights. John and his staff were friendly and welcoming. Very clean campground with mostly seasonal sites. Several overnight sites with electric and water. These sites were mostly gravel and cut into a bank so that there is some separation. Surrounded by trees but grounds are well kept. Fully fenced dog park that was great for our pup. A couple of ponds for kids to fish and what looks like a nice pool. Quiet hours observed. On Saturday night there was a band in an outdoor stage that was great.
Close enough to Ellicottville to enjoy the shops, brewery and restaurants there.
Only thing I would mention is the dump station is simply just a pipe off one of the driveways with a water hose. Not a problem and it works, just not typical of dump stations.
Not technically in the Finger Lakes but still one of the most beautiful parts of Western New York State. Splurge and eat at the Glen Iris Inn! Great for cycling and hiking but no swimming. I love taking visitors here in all seasons but in autumn it is exceptional. I’ve stayed in a few tent sites and all are wooded and pretty private with your standard basic amenities. This is a popular park so make reservations.
I went to college right near Letchworth State Park so I spent many wonderful weekends there! There is a reason why they call it the Grand Canyon of the East. Not only can you check out the beautiful waterfalls, but there are also many awesome trails, rivers, and caves to check out. When I would camp, we would rent a camp site with our tent but, you could camp with your RV or even rent a cabin. Ive gone every month of the year, but these pictures were from my birthday in January. Letchworth is one of the best parks in New York state and a definite must see!
My son and I have a new favorite campground. We absolutely fell in love with this park. I find it odd that even though I grew up only an hour away, we never camped there. Big mistake! There are many trails to hike on and beautiful views of the gorge and river. You have to drive to many of the places but it's worth it. There are many souvenir and snack stands as well as a pool (again, you have to drive to them). The camp store is small but well stocked with a laundry attached. Some loops allow pets and others don't. If you want to bring your pet, please check to make sure you reserve a pet-friendly loop. Unfortunately for us, it rained the entire time we were there so we never got to walk the trails or use the pool. Keep an eye out for other activities. There are balloon rides, craft shows, etc. that happen throughout the summer. With so much to do in the park, you don't really need to leave but nearby is the Arcade and Attica Railroad. It's a nice little ride through the countryside. There is also a small dam that you can visit (we missed out this last time). I highly recommend visiting.
ntmnet. Overall, this is a nice place to go camping. We camp in a tent and our site was wonderful (PT1). We were pretty much alone. The facility was nice and kept up. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. My only complaint would be that the pet rules are not enforced. I would see five dogs from my site and only one was on a leash all the time. My dog. One dog was free to roam wherever it wanted. Owners would walk with him and let him go. He came to our site several times. We did our best to keep our dog quiet but it was difficult. The dog ended up taking "a dump" on our site. The owners had not intention of cleaning it up till I talked to them when they walked by. They sent a child who didn't clean it toroughly so I had to. Called the office but no answer. Never saw an employee making rounds checking things out. Not going back.
Campgrounds near West Seneca provide diverse accommodation options within the Buffalo metropolitan region, where summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F with occasional thunderstorms. Most camping areas sit below 700 feet elevation in this glacially-formed landscape. Winter camping options remain limited, with most campgrounds operating from May through October during the region's 155-day growing season.
Hiking around Darien Lake: Explore miles of walking paths with mature trees and small creek access at Darien Lakes State Park Campground. "There are miles of hiking trails, nice 'lakes' to fish and swim in. There is a fairly new Frisbee golf course as well," notes Jeremy H., who recommends the park as "a nicely kept, clean and quiet gem."
Fishing options: Try the ponds at Sprague Brook Park, which offers year-round access including winter activities. "There is a play area for kids every time you turn around and a nice little pond for fishing," according to Sarah K., who adds that "for many families with small kids, it would be a wonderful place that isn't too far off the beaten track."
Niagara Falls access: Camp near the falls without paying premium prices at smaller campgrounds like Cinderella Motel & Campsite. "About 6 miles to Niagara State Park and easy access. Staff was friendly," reports Dennis I., who notes the campground is basic but functional for falls visitors.
Clean swimming facilities: At HTR Niagara Campground, guests appreciate the three pools and beach area. "This was the most perfect family campground we've been to... Our favorites were the 3 pools and brand new playground," writes L W., noting that "the grounds are pristine... everything was new and updated."
Well-maintained grounds: Campers consistently mention grounds upkeep at places like Four Mile Creek State Park Campground. "We camped under some mature trees that provided plenty of shade," notes Nathan E. The lakeside setting creates memorable evenings as "the sunset views over the lake each evening were spectacular," according to Jen V.
Convenient reservations: Many campgrounds offer hassle-free check-ins, especially valuable for late arrivals. "We arrived late and our site info was in the night drop so all good," reports Thomas S. about his stay at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday, adding "we timed our visit well - the park was pretty empty in mid-October but the weather was still nice."
Seasonal variations: Most campgrounds operate May through October, with limited services during shoulder seasons. "We were there on a weekday, told weekends are busy. Not buggy," observes Carol B. about Darien Lakes State Park, indicating midweek visits might offer more peaceful experiences.
Site variations: Many campgrounds feature a mix of wooded and open sites with varied privacy levels. At Cherry Hill Campground, "Many sites are separated by hedges, are drive-in sites yet still close to water, restrooms, and shower even a microwave," explains Dan H., adding their favorable impression of the "awesome, approachable, and helpful" owners.
Weather considerations: Summer storms can create muddy conditions at some campgrounds. "Lots of very wet, muddy sites where even mulch would have helped," mentions Marilyn C. about Sprague Brook Park, despite giving the park a positive overall review for its cleanliness and maintenance.
Entertainment options: Family-focused campgrounds often include structured activities. "Located a short drive to the Falls, on the 'less busy side,' to boot! Sites for all types of camping available as well as nice new cabins and yurts for rent," reports Erin H., noting HTR Niagara's "weekly free activities ranging from root beer float night to a traveling Birds of Prey show!"
Playground access: When traveling with children, campgrounds with multiple play areas provide essential activity spaces. "The back sites were perfect and decent sized... Our favorites were the 3 pools and brand new playground. We have little kids and they were just as entertained as all the big kids," shares L W. about HTR Niagara Campground.
Swimming alternatives: During summer heat, campgrounds with water features become especially valuable. "The pool is awesome. Staff super nice," notes Melissa N. about Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday, while mentioning the convenient location despite limited campsite privacy.
Site access: RVers should check specific site dimensions when booking. "Sites are easy access, rock bed for the sites, you are escorted to site," explains Kirk S. about Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday, adding "Internet is really good and has been upgraded recently with 2 G and 5G access."
Big rig considerations: Larger RVs require careful campground selection. "Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare," reports Jeff C. about Cinderella Motel & Campsite, though cautioning "don't expect to open your awnings in most sites" due to the close spacing of campsites.
Campsite surfaces: Different campgrounds offer varied parking surfaces. Four Mile Creek has "a nice row of small shade trees and bushes that separated our row of sites from each other," according to Jen V., who appreciated that "our site actually had a gravel driveway and pad, as did several others, but I noticed that the majority of sites were grass only."
